I really appreciate this video, because I just bought a curl sponge at the barbershop and I asked the Barbara about the two different sides and they just looked at me like I asked a stupid question....lol. Thank goodness for Us and UA-cam.
lollll you’re welcome
Flat side better for shorter hair. Spike side longer. Mine is about 3-4 inches I like spike side for mine
I did the same and no one explained the difference to me!
I just brought one a the beauty supplies store .....but one one could tell me diffènce so thanks 4 that❤❤❤...I'll b checking in because wre both have the same texture hair..$♡♡❤
Thanks for the tip about not pressing on the head with force. That was really helpful.
Where can I get the sponge and what is it called?
Beauty supply store. It should just be called a curl sponge or twist sponge
Yes, because that is exactly what I was gonna do.
After I use the flat side, I use a pick to softly lift my hair, don't pull the comb all the way through. The lift results in soft looking twists & a bit of fullness & eliminating scalp showing. I do it almost daily. This is the step she may've overlooked. Damp hair works better. Thanx.
RobinZipporah what products do you use to curl your hair please
Same
Exactly. I do the same. I use miele organics curl sculpting and moisturizer
Appreciate it, my shit be looking toooo flat
Yeah same! I hate when the scalp is showing haha
The flat side is used for short hair while the rough textile is used for long hair.
Michael Shegzy really?
Yes really.
My hair is 4-6 inches is it considered short
Yth Niggaki so is mine and I used the textured side
@@aricleveland503 thank you so much 🙏🏾
I hope the lady that came up with the sponge concept patented it. I remember when she was on Facebook showing us how it worked well with her natural hair. She had actually made the holes herself into a regular sponge. I just hope she was abled to capitalize on her idea. White Folk’s probably decided to put them in stores.
really??? wow I hope so too.
well fuck patents.google.com/patent/USD766590S1/en
Y you should do your research first b4 u act.
Yolanda Greene If not the white folks capitalizing on our culture, then it's the Asians, the Koreans. They own all the weave stores.
She probably chose fast UA-cam pennies over long term £££££££££££! I
She’s so pretty
Shurrup
Mark Obinna you shurrup
What's the name of the jell
IKR (I’m not a simp)
No she not
Thanks for showing the difference with using the two different sides of the sponge.
Literally 🔥
Very helpful especially when she mentions how to use the sponge. When she says lightly use the sponge as opposed to pushing down hard on the hair. That really worked for me.
I actually like the ridged side better because it doesnt leave bare scalp spots on my head and my hair length is about the same as yours, this is only my second day using it, been using my hands for the past about 2 months, great video...thanks👍👍👍
Yeah the ridge side is better for us men
Same. I did this today with ridged side and was wondering why it wasn't as defined. Well, I don't like the knotty, scalpy look so I guess I'll stick with less definition, although it reminds me of when someone doesn't comb out their hair lol
@@kelliew.4285 Please don't say that 🤣 I just cut my hair off due to damage and I'm trying to get used to my hair this way. I got my edge control ready. If you groom yourself it shows.
Thanks young lady for the wonderful tutorial, the hair looked nice and you set it all off with your natural beauty!
I have this exact curling sponge, but every time I use it, it makes my hair turn into short dreadlocks. I have medium to long hair. I might just call it a day and pay to get coil twists.
Try the ridged side again. Remember you cannot switch directions which is easy to forget when you switch hands. When you do you’re actually un-doing the twists. It’s reversing the curl pattern. You’ll get better results.
I used only the ridged side so far n my curls came out like the flat side demo...i came on this video cus i was wondering what the flat is about
Do you go Clockwise or counter clockwise?
Where can I see it to buy.
@@bettyokoh28 I got mine off amazon, i can never find em in stores
After using the exact same sponge you are using for years, my hair has started to thin at the top, where I use it the most., I was just told by a beautician, NOT to use that sponge, she says it takes your hair out. I just threw the exact same sponge you are showing in the trash.
Thank you! My son and I never knew which side of his to use and like you said, in most videos people were using the flat side. This video helped tremendously!
Can you please do a video on your skin routine because your skin is flawless!💯like I drink carrot juice every day and my skin don’t look as clean.youre on point 😁💯
Is it just me or she looks a bit like Beyoncé 😍
I feel as though using that brush dries out your hair and gives it more of a frizzy look instead of moist/ with soft curls.
I like both sides. It just depends on the look I wanna feel like rocking that day, and my outfit. Yes sometimes my hair has to match my outfit 🤷🏽♀️😂 I rock a short tapered haircut
Know this isn’t video related but you are very beautiful and have gorgeous features
Great talent, however, next time use the "Original NuDred" sponge. With NuDred you don't have to apply nearly as much pressure, healthier for your hair, better results and NuDred will last longer. Black Owned, Manufactured and made in the US.
Nudred //thx! I'm always looking for great advice...
Where can i find this brush you talking about?
www.nudred.com, amazon.com, Sally's and some Targets. Thank you!
Nudred A
Nudred Thanks For The Tip!! Maybe You Can Do A Video On The Curl Sponge You Just Gave Her Advice about!! Would Love To See Your Review!! 🙏🏽✌🏼
I always use the textured side because I prefer curls to twists. As she showed in the video the textured side curls but the flat side twists your hair rather than curl it.
To get the best results, use a coconut oil based curling cream, I use the Cantu brand (I'm not advertising, it's just the only brand I've tried and it works so I stuck to it)
Thanks! That's exactly the info I've been looking for. I mean seriously... Every article/video I've seen has talked about the "curling sponge", yet they all twist their hair. But, I wanted the curly style.
Does it makes your hair grows
OMG!!!! I thought this was a makeup brush holder.... I've been using it to hold all of my brushes. Ouch!
Now you know you have something extra
Lamo....u are killing me with laughy
I knew this was a real video when, you couldn't find your "Regular" comb. Lol
I hit "#Subscribed" for that reason alone.
The side with ridges works better with hair that is a tad bit longer...but I absolutely love the effect achieved from the flat size!! Thanks for the demo!!
You resemble Solange Knowles Beyonce's sister
I love your hair.
Was just thinking the same. Very pretty
Victoria Burns she looks like left eye
Love ur hair ur the one that made go to the barber shop with me right? I showed it to my husband & he said u were beautiful i didnt get jealous because i compliment women & im not bisexual i just compliment where its do thats all looks great!
Thanks for this vid, it was helpful. I actually prefer how the ridged side came out.
I like the look of the textured side better. The flat side was too defined for my taste.
I like the rigged side
you is a girl
@@jamisonlife7954 no shit
Your hair is so cute and I'm putting a curling system in my hair.
When I first saw you, the very first thought was, "Wow, you're beautiful!"
Thank you for the video. I'm thinking of using the sponge. I'd like to see eyebrow, lash and skincare vids from you also because you look amazing and so natural.
I just use the flat side then pick my hair out after to give it volume and look full without the scalp showing
Oh snap, all I can say is God bless you for this video, I also like the left side better. It's 2am and I can't wait to get to the beauty supply shop in the morning. You are beautiful and thank you thank you thank you.💃💃💃OH and finally someone with my length and grade of hair.
Great job giving description of how long you do it and how far you have to be in your hair! THANKS for explaining both sides and what that means, hard to find videos explaining that
Hello! I'm letting my hair grow up after years of getting it very short. I think that my hair tipe is between 4b and 4c, how long must be my hair to get those coils? Thanks!
Well done. I like the way you approached and presented the information. Informative and straight forward.
Thank you sweetie for this we couldnt figure it out and you saved me time a d headache lol keep up the good work you got new fans
I think it's a matter of long hair vs. short hair. Depth of holes, ridges, etc. If your hair were longer, you may get similar results by using the rigid side. Just my opinion. Your video is great and detailed. Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering why the sponge was not working for me. I stumbled across this video. I have been pressing too hard and I was using the raised side. My hair is thick so I felt that I needed to used the raised side. I am very new to this process and was very intimidated by it. Thank you Thank you Thank you
I love the spiked side effect. I usually use the other side. Will try the spiked style from today. Thanks. Great vid! :)
She is so fine...smh
she is ugly
Bernice Woods nah cuh she fine ash she’d look so good with a long curly fro tho 😍😍
cool kids you’re ugly bitch
@@hamzfake2575 lol,she liked it .She cute. That kids deranged.
I hate when they take so long to get to the point
Ikr
I totally agree! Soo annoying, that I never continue the video, next!
For dreadlocks the wavy side gives more uneven sized dreadlocks. My hairs a bit longer then hers and that’s what happened to me. It has more of a free form look but the other side made it look more uniform.
Damn your gorgeous, I watched this video 2 times in a row just to see you.
yes she is!!!...with or without curls!!
thirsty af
@@christaylor7916 ong 😭
I use both. I’ll define my coils, but go over them with the spiked side so it doesn’t look so brand new.
Hello. Does using the spike side afterwards, make the scalp less pronounced? I don't want my scalp showing too much. I want a more natural looking loose, and defined curl.
Teresa h hi. I sponge almost everyday.... I think the trick is to stop just when your coils are getting too tight then switch to the spiked side, but if they get too tight I spritz with water.
Thanks Charmy, I'll try that!
I bet the 626 people who unliked this video were bald 😂😂💔🙄
very helpful- thank you for using both sides!
Lifesaver as bored of the basic mini fro after my big chop
You are beautifully natural!! Love it!
The spiked side is used for thicker hair
This was a very helpful video! Thank you:)
Extremely helpful video!! I’ve only been using the flat side. The ridged side might work better for me. Awesome video!! Thanks!!
Thank god for a video like this 🙏
Just found your channel. Thank you for being so detailed.my hair is your length in the video,so your really helpful to me!
I have your same hair texture so imma go clockwise feel like that's what you were doing thank you Queen ❤️
I like the rigged side better. Not a fan of all them knots in my hair. Also, you kept changing directions on the right side , but it still turned out nice.
Lol , I can’t believe I watching this
She just seems cool and positive she has a good vibe about her
I actually like using the “spiked” side on my hair. My hair isn’t too much longer than yours and I like it just fine
I use the spike side to and my hair is long
I live a twist sponge. My friend recently cut her hair and she used the large side. It looks beautiful.
YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️
thank you ❤️❤️
both are cute. funny, she said, "this one is more...like this." hee hee!
wtf? r u drunk...what are you sayin, and whats funny about that
SOUR LEMONS 😂😂
Spongy stylist create a good idea for us with short hairs ,I doesn't require much time even, love it.
Use rough first on entire hair before using the flat on the entire hair
You’re beautiful baby! Love ya! 😘🤗😍🤩🔥
Great video...I see what you mean by the knots verses with the hole side and I'm not really a fan of that side either because it shows so much of the scalp tho it's more defined..the wavy side to me is more my kind of look because it doesn't do so much of separation on the hair instead the look of the exact amount of a pattern but allows very little if any at all separation...my son hair is very high and extra thick he prefers the hole side of the sponge and his scalp is a very dark brown so even when he does his hair after a fresh wash it does separate and it looks nice ...the color of the scalp to me determines the side i use...(my scalp and yours are the same)...maybe if I let my hair grow longer 💇it may not make a difference
Hello. That's the question I was going to ask. I want a curly definition, but don't want my scalp too pronounced. So just to confirm, do you think the raised side is best for the look I'm going for?
I think you should use the flat side for what you’re going for!
Thank you.
Beautiful Queen I'm loving your natural glow😍🌷🌷
Thank you, sis. Love & appreciate this vid. I haven't been to the shop since this quarantine mess & I usually keep a fade. Been almost 2 decades since I've had my hair this long LOL. Wanted to find a way to keep it halfway together so I copped the sponge but didn't kno what to do. Keep doing your thing! 👍🏿
Curls for longer hair
Best products to use . My hair is about 6-8 inches long. Always very dry and tangles easily
I’m subbed I’d been waitin for someone to explain this !!!!! Your an angel thanks have a good day beautiful!!!
girl, you really have very healthy and nice hair keep growing it out and taking care of it, is my advice
Thank u so much 🥺❤️❤️😩 now i have something to do on my hair lmao 😭❤️😅😅
So do we have to use some curling cream or an we just do it without it?
either or
I recently bought one for my 6yr old grandson and I used the textured side and the curls just enhanced very nice!😍
Today, I was looking at flat side and was thinking 🤔 hmmm…can I use this side as well? So, this is why I’m on your UA-cam channel😁
Thank you for being so, informative as to “how to” use this sponge brush!
Yours truly,

Thank you so much. I just gave in and went short....4c hair. about your length. This video was very helpful.
Much respect to a black queen keepin it natural💯💜
Your tutorial is very informative. I’ve always had long hair. I’ve had quite a few moments where I’ve cut my hair completely off to a short Salt n Peppa 80’s hairstyle. I cut my hair off once again because I’m tired of the chemical maintenance. Thank you for the advice!
I don't like using the styling gel so that product that u use n your hair I need to find that one.
This did not work for me. Just bout one and my hair is a little longer than yours I just ended up with a nappy afro. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Thank you! Very helpful! And everyone seems to use eco styler gel with this sponge but good to know I don't have to use that or gel if I don't want to. Definitely will try it with leave in and grease or mousse next time.
Whats the name of it and what was the name of the stuff you put in your hair i like my hair curly but just back curling it its not like back in the days the hawaiian silky had my hair too straight the pro line worked for a couple days
One chick told me do the liltle dreads but i like the curls do you recomend a kit for my hair or just what you used for curls
Thanks for clearing that up for me! You’re a wonderful instructor! Keep up the excellent work.
Thank you! Very useful information. I recently cut all my over processed hair off. This is not my first short haircut, but the sponge brush is a new experience for me and after watching your video, I have more clarity on how to use the brush.
🤴🏾I have been using the spike side for a very long time for really short hair. When the pandemic hit I was not going to get my cut. I continue to use the spike side. The result was my hair looked like someone was curling it. Started the flat side for longer hair but my hair does not look as curly. 😢 I believe it depends on your hair texture to get the result that you want. When I get my hair cut a little lower I will return to the spike side. 😊 Thank you for the demo. 👍🏽🌹
Good video! Definitely answered my questions :)
Good a.m... thanks for sharing. Really nice... You wear it well. . the hair style is beautiful on you. Next time can you include the part of laying your edges? Thanks.. or if you have any video out already demonstrating edge control.. I would appreciate if you could forward it to me. Thanks blessings.
Thank you, because I never new about the sponge for hair and I was wondering why I wasn't getting curls,I know now.
I just purchased my first sponge and thank you for your concise and detailed video. It was perfect and I was successful. Kudos on your presentation.

Thank you for taking time to explain and demonstrate the two. I was wondering the same thing. Why only the flat side was being shown. Two thumbs up
Natural beauty is undefeated!😆😉
She's definitely gorgeous
You have a very beautiful face and great job on the video, helped me a lot!
Ur beautiful
You're so beautiful
Your hair looks amazing. What lashes are you wearing??
they’re from Kay Sada Cosmetics
I know right! It's like the whole video those lashes stood out! They are beautiful..
thank you! ❤️
Did your head hurt after this? Bc I did mine last night & my head hurts like hell 😭. Maybe I’m doing too hard?
I'm also not a fan of the flat side. I don't like the appearance of knots and too much scalp.
I don’t like the flat side look… maybe with the curved side you don’t use it with as much flick of the wrist like the flat but honestly slow and steady could work with both side… practice flicking the wrist!!💚
I like the spikey side on your hair. I don’t like showing my scalp. Lol. A guy would prob be ok w it but I like the spikey side fr. Thx for the video!
