This is an orchestration by Chabrier of a bunch of the most 'pastoral' of his 10 'pièces pittoresques' to form a "suite pastorale". Chabrier had a genius for the orchestra, so these pieces find a new life under their orchestral trimming. The suite is composed a posteriori, of course, but the succession of movements is convincing.
One need only listen to this and Le Roi Malgre Lui to realize what a versitile master of orchestration Chabrier was. He was a great and perceptive devotee of the visual arts as well. One of my very favored composers!
I like this music immensely. Beautiful evocation of countryside without being mawkish.
I have just discovered Chabrier. Thank you, Gerard, for your explanation. I now understand why this work is a 'suite'.
The second movement is just too lovely!
It’s humorous and beautiful so well orchestrated Ty
Genius in all ways.
MrVektriol, you had me at Raoul Dufy watercolor! Fine taste in art.
Neat Orchestration
😢
Lovely orchestration. I usually prefer solo works, but these are complete and satisfying. Thank you.
thanks for sharing, MrVektriol; it's breathtaking.

Wow!! Now that's a comment..!!
Thanks !!!!
merci beaucoup pour la información, Monsieur Begni.
Yes, like Ravel who orchestrated most of his own piano pieces, Chabrier's orchestration is without fail delightfully idiomatic.

Magic
Hey this is quite a discovery for me ! Note to myself: Needs further exploration !
Did Mahler know this music? I feel the Danse villageoise is referenced in the third movement of the Ninth Symphony.
I can’t believe this is a Naxos recording!
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. What about Naxos?
MrVektriol Often I don’t like orchestral recordings from Naxos, they sound mechanical. This recording is a nice surprise.
@@msaeki Mechanical? How? Check out the Finzi Cello Concerto recording is out of this world. Find the time to generalize less

Horrible
Pourquoi ?
Poor Freddy, how long have you been deaf?
Freddy must be a Bruckner or Reger fan.
You one crazy bitch. 🤪
@@andrewpetersen5272 Bruckner is really great, but overrated. I hope that persons will like he one day (or not).
