This is mainly an excuse to show off some easter eggs in the DLC that I liked. FromSoft aren't known for their easter eggs, but I managed to find a handful from their past games that I also wanted to show you all. Enjoy!

something I've noticed about the way Igon talks, his singular hatred for Bayle, literally willing to throw away his life just to hunt him, having Harpoons...... Igon strikes me as a reference to Captain Ahab from Moby Dick, his obsession with the white whale taking his whole life (his glorious monologue cursing said beast "from hells heart I stab at thee!") also Igons name reminded me of Ishmael too when I first thought of this
I think Igon is a reference to two things. His relationship with Bayle is a reference to Moby Dick's Captain Ahab, and his name is a reference to Aegon. Aegon was the man who rode Balerion the Dread in Game of Thrones.

Not gonna lie, Fromsoft game are rarely associated with easter eggs for me, besides Beserk references. So seeing these things here is actually pretty cool. Turns out there do like more things than just Beserk.
Making this video was a bit tricky because there was so little to work with, but it made me appreciate the few things they did give us a lot more! For example, I really didn't expect to see that book joke in Bloodborne...
Here's a couple that weren't mentioned 1. The lore of souls coming from flame in Dark Souls is probably taken from The Silmarillion, where the souls of the Maia and Vala (and mortals) are taken from the Flame Imperishable. 2. "Anor Londo" and "Irithyll" borrow from Tolkien's Sindarin elvish. "Anor" means the sun, "Ithyll" is the moon, which matches the look of both locations. 3. Besides Bayle's name referencing Balerion, Igon's name probably references Aegon I who was Balerion's rider. 4. The cats with huge teeth in DS1 are almost definitely a reference to Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. 5. The names of the Bloodhound and Crucible Knights in Elden Ring reference Geological periods and epochs. Bloodhound Knight Darriwil references the Darriwilian epoch of the upper Devonian. "Ordovis", "Siluria", and "Devonia" are named for the Ordovician, Silurian, and Devonian periods in Earth's history. Trees did not properly evolve yet during these periods which hints that the Crucible knights are older than the Erdtree. 6. Surprised you didn't mention the parallels between Miquella and Griffith. Story spoilers, probably. 7. The great katana in the DLC seems to use the moveset of the longsword from Monster Hunter. I've heard people say this is actually just the basic way you use a nodachi IRL, but I cannot find a source or video verifying this. I could easily be wrong. 8. The Demi-human swordmaster seems to be a nod to Yoda with his acrobatic swordsmanship, a glowing sword, and he can use "the force" too. 9. Jolan's helmet, the Helm of Night, looks uncannily like Sauron's helmet in Peter Jackson's depiction of him.
Some of these, like the Yoda one, I actually recorded but didn't use them in the final video. Most of them I'd never heard before, so thanks for telling me! I'd love to make a much longer video with all these little references, but most of my audience aren't as into FromSoft games as me. I wanted to just showcase a handful of the secrets I think are most notable.

You could also argue that blackgaol knight's sword is a reference to bleach, because it shoots out energy wave and is named "moon *something" which is how Ichigo calls out his energy wave - "Moon fangs".
8:51 This song in particular is from the game ICO, Hidetaka Miyazaki's favorite game. He even said in an interview that the game restored his faith in gaming. He praised Fumito Ueda for his contribution to video games and even said that Dark Souls wouldn't exist if it were not for ICO.

I don't personally believe Chester was intentionally referencing Bloodborne. I just think it conveniently worked out that way. Bloodborne was in development during the making of the DLC for DS1 and From was likely testing things like cloth physics and combat using Chester's model. Since every game uses the exact same engine, it was easy for them to just plop him down into the game for testing and they ended up keeping him in. He also has a kick that was somewhat present in earlier builds of Bloodborne before getting cut.

DS2 has the best looking version of Gut’s sword. If you kill The Rotten on NG+ and get the old dead ones soul you can transpose that into the Crypt Blacksword. Its almost an exact replica of the Dragon Slayer from Berserk

I'm surprised you didn't mention that the Blackgaol Knight's armor set bears a strong resemblance to Guts' Berserker Armor that he obtains later in the series, although the helmet bears no similarities to the aforementioned armor's helmet.
I found and Easter egg that could be a reference to chainsaw man, it involves a weapon called the blood fiends fork from the dlc and it could be a reference to Power from chainsaw man because she is the blood fiend and the spear has horns that kinda resemble her horns. It could be a stretch but I could be right (Also if it's already been mentioned I've not seen it yet because I'm not that far into the video)
I love how connected Fromsoftwares games feel, with the sole exception maybe being Dark Souls II. At least I didn't feel the magic when I played that game.
It's the one FromSoft game I hadn't even attempted to play. This video was the first time playing it. I thought some of the world design was pretty cool, but I could tell from the very beginning it wasn't as engaging for me. Maybe I should give it a proper attempt though.

Dark souls 2 has the best lore in the trilogy, the fact that is so disconnected made it feel like time actually passed, to the point of ppl actually forgetting who started the fire cycle, and lucatiel quest is the perfect example of what the curse does
You forgot to mention the giant furnace golems in the Elden Ring DLC, which are not only a reference to Celtic culture, but also Berserk again. It appears to draw reference from the Wickerman, a giant wicker golem that is lit on fire while filled with people.
My excuse for including it: Whenever the Knight is talked about online, someone always mentions him being a Guts reference. He's the only Berserk reference most people seem to agree was actually a Berserk reference. My real reason: I needed a funny way to start that section and that was all I could find. I'm still leaning towards it being a reference though.
I actually did stream like 8 years ago. I think I streamed Resident Evil 5 for some reason. It went so badly that I never attempted it again. Hopefully one day I'll find the motivation to do it again!
I didn't include that because I'm not sure if it's an easter egg, or just a reused asset from Dark Souls. The chest is identical to the one in Dark Souls 3. When the 'easter egg' was first found, the one chest people kept posting online was later changed. You can still find the Dark Souls chest, but it's in lesser talked about places. I think it's just in their asset library, and they forgot to remove it.
2 other things I remembered is Yamamura's outfit looking almost exactly like Sekiro's too, and Igon being a reference to Captain Ahab from Moby Dick, with his internal name in the files also being Ahab
That's how you so easter eggs/references! FS Games are intensely self referencial. It makes them highly rewarding to go from their rpgs (Souls, King's Field) to action games (Armored Core) to other stuff (Echo Night). And done without ruining the atmosphere.
Didn't even mention the coolest part of the first Easter egg. He says "grabbed by a shadowy hand" which is something that happens a lot in Bloodborne (Amygdalas grab you) and it can transport you to different dimensions (like the Hunter's nightmare, or in this case, lordran)
It’s awesome to see berserk live on in a way through the works of FromSoftware. Dark Souls and Elden Ring are full of references to it and although I’ve never read the manga I know it’s had a profound effect on so many people. It’s really cool to see people cosplaying as Guts in all these games given that your character goes through so much in a similar way that Guts does.
I would love to see all the Berserk references in all fromsoft games. The tree with the hanging corpses in the DLC is one i immedietly recognized for example.
I have played ds2 like 10 times over and still have no idea what that pig digging up a pickaxe is a refernce to. I think it might be a minecraft easter egg maybe?

I speculate that Iosefka from Bloodborne might be a reference to a Character named "Josef K." from the old german novel "Der Prozess" by Franz Kafka

I'm surprised you didn't mention that the Blackgaol Knight's armor set bears a strong resemblance to Guts' Berserker Armor that he obtains later in the series, although the helmet bears no similarities to the aforementioned armor's helmet.

I found and Easter egg that could be a reference to chainsaw man, it involves a weapon called the blood fiends fork from the dlc and it could be a reference to Power from chainsaw man because she is the blood fiend and the spear has horns that kinda resemble her horns. It could be a stretch but I could be right

I love how connected Fromsoftwares games feel, with the sole exception maybe being Dark Souls II. At least I didn't feel the magic when I played that game.
It's the one FromSoft game I hadn't even attempted to play. This video was the first time playing it. I thought some of the world design was pretty cool, but I could tell from the very beginning it wasn't as engaging for me. Maybe I should give it a proper attempt though.
@@FunWithGuru i had a rough time with it at first but then it kind a grew on me. It felt like a first souls-type game you play, u need to get use to its design and get a grip on things, and appriciate the jank.. If you know what I mean 😅

Dark souls 2 has the best lore in the trilogy, the fact that is so disconnected made it feel like time actually passed, to the point of ppl actually forgetting who started the fire cycle, and lucatiel quest is the perfect example of what the curse does
Dark Souls 2 is more connected to From's earlier works like the King's Field games rather than just DS
Igon/Bayle are also a reference to Cpt. Ahab/Moby Dick!
Yeah! I also didn't mention that Igon sounds like Aegon. Aegon was the man who rode the dragon Balerion the Dread in Game of Thrones!

You forgot to mention the giant furnace golems in the Elden Ring DLC, which are not only a reference to Celtic culture, but also Berserk again. It appears to draw reference from the Wickerman, a giant wicker golem that is lit on fire while filled with people.

My excuse for including it: Whenever the Knight is talked about online, someone always mentions him being a Guts reference. He's the only Berserk reference most people seem to agree was actually a Berserk reference.
My real reason: I needed a funny way to start that section and that was all I could find. I'm still leaning towards it being a reference though.

I actually did stream like 8 years ago. I think I streamed Resident Evil 5 for some reason. It went so badly that I never attempted it again. Hopefully one day I'll find the motivation to do it again!
You left out the one chest in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree that has the exact chest model as dark souls
I didn't include that because I'm not sure if it's an easter egg, or just a reused asset from Dark Souls. The chest is identical to the one in Dark Souls 3.
When the 'easter egg' was first found, the one chest people kept posting online was later changed. You can still find the Dark Souls chest, but it's in lesser talked about places. I think it's just in their asset library, and they forgot to remove it.

FS Games are intensely self referencial. It makes them highly rewarding to go from their rpgs (Souls, King's Field) to action games (Armored Core) to other stuff (Echo Night).
And done without ruining the atmosphere.
Didn't even mention the coolest part of the first Easter egg. He says "grabbed by a shadowy hand" which is something that happens a lot in Bloodborne (Amygdalas grab you) and it can transport you to different dimensions (like the Hunter's nightmare, or in this case, lordran)
I think people vastly overestimate the Berserk influence.

It’s awesome to see berserk live on in a way through the works of FromSoftware. Dark Souls and Elden Ring are full of references to it and although I’ve never read the manga I know it’s had a profound effect on so many people. It’s really cool to see people cosplaying as Guts in all these games given that your character goes through so much in a similar way that Guts does.

in fact Elden Ring’s Greatsword is not Guts’ Dragonslayer, but his first sword, the one he used during the golden Age 🤓☝🏻
