Ugh! This was the drop spindle video I was looking for!!! Some lady dominated the search results for this and she just never got to the point soon enough. This video was perfect. Clear, concise, and *to the point.* If you wanna learn all about the history and misogyny that other lady's got you covered. If you just wanna know how it works and how to do it *this is it.*

I love my Turkish spindle for plying on the fly. I have two cops on the spindle, the single on the post and the plied on the arms, and just chain ply onto the arms when the single gets long enough

I chain ply a meter at a time as I spin if I want to ply it. Your idea is interesting too.

You can also make a centre-pull ball on a top-whorl spindle, if you're careful how you wind the wool (and don't do it too tightly).

That was fun, spinning along on my popsicle stick Turkish spindle. Try making the knot with the thum of your left hand. Loop the thumb, tip the thumbtip over the stick end, slide onto stick. So fast you will feel silly you didn't know sooner. Happy spinning! (Yep, I subbed)
Thanks for the tip. I make it several ways, depending on how my fingers are feeling that day, and how I’m holding the fibers.
I have a top drop spindle, i like to twine with it or spin a smaller amount of yarn. I am still a beginner spinner, 2 and a half months and i just need to go go go with that so i can better my tecnique. The spindle for now is not much in use.
I actualy hardly twine because i use my harn only for tapestry weaving and i like the single yarn the best. My yarn is still often uneven but that gives it the structure i want to see and feel in my (abstract) tapestry.
Am also learning a lot in weaving, my tecnique is not yet to my satisfaction but i am getting there.
Anyhow i love to make my own yarn , the complete proces from raw to handspun dyed yarn is so fecitile my (add) brain keeps occupied enough to stay focussed😁.

I know I ordered the two bigger ones from The Woolery. The tiny one, I think I picked up at the Taos Wool Festival in 2017. Don’t remember the maker.

Not one specifically that I’m aware of. Several books touch on them. They operate under the same principles as other spindles.
