After the arrest of Jesus, his disciples look to rebuild in the song 'Could We Start Again Please' from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's musical Jesus Christ Superstar.
From Jesus Christ Superstar (2012): Director Laurence Connor presents this contemporary re-imagining of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's legendary rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar. The world renowned phenomenon portrays the story of the last seven days of Christ leading up to his crucifixion as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Filmed as an arena rock opera, the performance features a star-studded line-up which includes award-winning musical comedian, Tim Minchin as the role of Judas Iscariot; pop icon and former Spice Girl Melanie C as Mary Magdalene; radio DJ Chris Moyles in his stage debut as King Herod; and Ben Forster, to take on the title role of Jesus. This award-winning creative team is sure to captivate audiences and transform the hugely popular stage production into a unique, modern, state-of-the-art spectacular.

Mel C interpretation of Mary Magadelen was exceptional to include the subtle symbolic ways she interprets Mary's change of direction in her life. This score always bring a tear to my eye. Mel C manages to draw you in to the pain and conflict of the character in a natural and subtle way. Never it and never over playing it just SPOT ON. What a natural talent.
I could not agree more or say it better!
Yes!! It's such a crime that there's no studio recording for this tour
One of the best musical songs ever
Yes it is
This whole production has legendary songs. I loved the 70s film adaptation. This is extremely good though. The emotion in the harmonies are beautiful.
Love It.
Peter and Mary's harmony is just so beautiful
Who played Peter?
@@nagwagi2000 Michael Pickering!
@@robkelly4314 Thanks!☺️
It’s like an Aurora 🫶💋💃🤳🏃♀️
@@nagwagi2000Adam ❤
You can really hear the Emotions in Mel and Michael’s voices as they sing this song 🥺🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️
Indeed. Despair and hopelessness came to bear as Judas' betrayal of Christ culminated in his eventual arrest. It was sorrow too much to bear. Clearly, the pain was palpable in their voices.
I like that they also pan to Tim Minchin in this song just to show how guilt-ridden and sorry he is for the betrayal
It makes me cry this song ,for several reasons, and Tim Rice and Lloyd Webber are geniuses!!!!
Everytime I hear it.
I’ve heard better vocally but never heard anyone grasp the emotional lyrics half as well as Mel. She’s a wonderful talent
This is a fantastic song and a humanistic point of view. Jesus was crucified and Mary and Peter don't know what to do or say. "I think you've made your point now" ...very strong. Their asking the Saviour to call a truce and let everything just be as it was....but it cant be.
This Peter is amazing. And Mel C is great as well.
Loved Melanie as Mary!! 😍
Blessings from Taiwan 😇😘
Hope to watch it again on Easter this year! 😍
God bless ALL of us! 😇💖
Happy Easter...
I never ever thought I would like ANY of the Spice girls, but all have shown their talents. They have also become even more attractive with age. The exception is of course Victoria.
God bless you for posting clips of Arena Tour... Also Mel C is absolutely stunning in the role of Mary Magdalene, I love her and this entire production so much!
And Could We Start Again is a hella powerful song, it would’ve been even better if more productions of JCS had Judas in it (as Broadway 2012 with Paul Nolan, Josh Young and Chilina Kennedy did)
Umm… no she is not. She’s a weak singer and a worse actor.
Me too ❤
Melanie C is simply amazing...this one is definitely my fave song.
Definitely my favourite song too, Mel c shows critics so wrong that she can't sing, plus Peter actor has great voice & is handsome man!!
Awesome and... could you start again please ?🤣
This is by far, my favorite production of jcs EVER!!!
I love the arrangement - the piano chords etc at 2:36 just sound divine (pun unintended)
I literally haven't been able to stop listening to this song since may 1st 2022
This is my absolute favorite song. It's about a sincere request for repentance.
Wow... that was fantastic. I cant believe I recognized Mel B Just by her voice, I haven't seen this play since I was a kid so that was a pleasant surprise 😍❤
Lol, that’s Mel C
Well that's great. But you didnt recognise Mel B by her voice on this video.
Lol my bad, typo. Mel C. It's been like 20 years since I've heard a spice girls track🤣 dont drag me, lmao!😆❤
@@rosierain1473 In fairness to you, you were ¾ right!
I've been living to see you
Dying to see you
But it shouldn't be like this
This was unexpected
What do I do now?
Could we start again, please?
I've been very hopeful, so far
Now, for the first time
I think we're going wrong
Hurry up and tell me
This is all a dream
Or could we start again, please?
I think you've made your point now
You've even gone a bit too far to get the message home
Before it gets too frightening
We ought to call a halt
So, could we start again, please?

Amazing production and singers. Mary and Peter are stunning. I really appreciate you uploaded this song. I have the dvd.
Best production of JCS since the original album with Ian Gillan and Yvonne Ellerman. Mel C was an absolute revelation as Mary Magdalene. Stunningly good.
Yvonne would star in the film version of JSC.
Fun fact, this track actually wasn't in the original concept album for the show. Instead, it was added for the 73 film and then I think they just kind of kept it!
Actually, it was first added in the original Broadway production in 1971 and included in the film version afterwards
@@masarusenpai1952 ah ok, not totally caught up on the history of JCS, I just know that this song wasn't in the original concept album
JCS is my second favourite Andrew Lloyd Webber musical and this is my favourite production
What’s your favorite?
@@EatTheRich848 My favourite ALW musical is The Phantom of the Opera
@@williamfairchild7439 Phantom is one of my favorite musicals! Which production/cast do you like best? My fav is the 25th anniversary because Ramin Sierra and Hadley are amazing
@@EatTheRich848 My fave production of Phantom is the 25th Anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011 and it is amazing and I am glad that Phantom is one of your favourite musicals as well
@@williamfairchild7439 I have watched it SO many times the entire cast is just perfect ( especially Ramin 😂)
I love this! And Mel is a beautiful Mary and all the cast is beautiful! Thank you!
The movie soundtrack is still the GOAT for me.
Could y’all post the whole show again? I actually LOVED this one! (Of course none will replace the original) but I LOVED this one.
At last Mel seems to be getting the credit she deserved for her performance.
This song just hits a little differently. ❤️
I love this so much! I first saw this when I was five and it's been my favourite song ever since
i got all three versions of this song 76 but this is great .... can we start all over now
I love this song!
I am a HUGE fan of this musical, and Rene Castle's version of Mary M was incredible. But I am beginning to think Sporty has done the best overall portrayal of this character. Maybe not in voice, but in gravitas. So good.
WOW... Mel C, She's like fine wine!..
I absolutely love this production and this song!!
A rare thing for me to say... I'm not a fan of pop singers in musical roles. I prefer actor-singers. Here the blend of pop voice and musical voice is brilliant. What helps is Mel C's is very distinctive.
Melanie C has an amazing voice, she's such a great singer.
I love this production 😍
one of my favorite songs on the soundtrack
Please show the whole production again this year again!
Fantastic play !
this is heavenly
Jesus Christ superstar is the best for me ✨👍
Webber's Magnum Opus
What beautiful peace of music
no other version can do this better
YESSS
YESSS MORE JCS 😍
Ahhhhh yesssss
Love it 😍😍
Always gives me chills
This and the 50th anniversary tour are the best casts I've of JCS, the 50th anniversary tour
Ohh yeah Amennn ✝️
"Epic" Performance by "Ted Neeley" Best musical ever!!!
A very emotional performance.
I love this so much. So many emotions are brought out of me by this production
Love cast members very talented 😇✨🙏
Have you mainstream this musical already? Oh God. I wanna see.
It was shown last year. It is available to rent or buy, see programme information.
Nice!
Are the songs from this version on Spotify? It's my favorite version of JCSS.
The songs for this version were never released in an album format. It shouldn’t be hard to find a bootleg however.
Mel C recorded "I Don't Know How To Love Him" for one of her albums and so did Tim with "Heaven On Their Minds" too, both are available on Spotify. Sadly those are the only ones available on Spotify from this version.
@@erorikoka1 Thanks! I ended up getting Broadway HD as a streaming service because they have this version on there :)
Love this Peter, but he seems to have a serious accent and it's so funny hearing it slip in sometimes
love this show, thanks for sharing another great song from it. Really enjoyed this production of it so much. Great film, apart from the autotune. Are you planning anything for the 10th anniversary next year?
Isn't this just the best Peter ever?
Agreed!
Definitely! Who is he??
@@chasetheskies I wasn't sure but I believe its Michael Pickering!
@@jenniferbloomfield3656 You're right :) Looked it up earlier today cause someone else asked about it too :)
@@erorikoka1 I looked it up also!
Too often the role of Peter is just overlooked or cast horribly... this is the best I've seen yet. The 2000 movie was pretty atrocious in every way EXCEPT for this song, because they also used a baritone for Peter.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that movie was really quite crap.
what about the 1973 version? that one is my fav version.
Nah, the 2000 movie was really good. It's in no way bad. Doesn't deserve the hate.
@@troyandrew9702 it's the best overall, but this song ("Could we start again, please?") is completely unmemorable from the 1973 movie. I didn't like the Peter in that version at all.
To each his own. Every Easter I watch all the versions of this song on YT and, while I have my favorite (the 2000 version), I've never seen/heard a bad production of it. There's no such thing as an "atrocious" version of JCSS.
I do like Peter in this one
My boyfriend can’t we just start again please if we could start again❤
Most under rated song in the opera. Probably because it was not on the original Album.
If this wasn't pitch corrected she has great pitch.
❤️
I really enjoy this song. I could be wrong, but wasn't this written specifically for the movie? Has it been inserted in other stage productions since the movie version of JCS?
Could you please upload Jesus must die from this production?
I love how this production was done. Is the whole performance available in one piece?
Is this the spice g? Wow. Very impressive.
Sporty spice, mel c
Mel c 's voice is as perfect as yvonne elimans....
When are we going to get another streaming of this production?😁 It's been almost a year since the last time!
I think the streamings are over because things are going back to normal
Sorry not a patch on the film...Or London production with Joanna Ampil.
Mel came out with spoilers tattooed on her arm.
Off course, monday all day long eberything is forgiven 😅😅
It needs penny ling from littlest pet shop and Barney the dinosaur
let's petition for michael pickering to play peter in every production of jcs for the rest of eternity because the casting of peter is always ~~yikes~~~
Who plays Peter
Michael Pickering, you can find the entire cast and crew by searching for Jesus Christ Superstar on IMDB
@@erorikoka1 Thanks
Found him, it's Michael Pickering, awesome dude, hot!! 🔥🔥
2 questions 1: was Mary auto tuned and 2: why is Judas there
All the casts are autotuned
OK we get it, it’s fantastic. Now when can we book tickets ?
Is it just me or does this song sounds like one that Meatloaf would have made? In fact it sounds a little like Bat out of Hell’s interpretation of What Part of My Body Hurts The Most
Do journey to the heavy side layer from cats or Pilate and Christ /the 29 lashes
Does anyone else think u can interpret this different ways,? 1 it's out of Jesus's control or 2, that he engineered it to show humanity? Just a thought
I was curious how this wonderful song would sound with a Mary Magdalene who isn't tone deaf. Now I wonder how the lady in the movie ever got the idea to pursue a career in singing, or why anyone would consider hiring her.
I don't think you know what tone deaf means. She's got a unique vocal tone but it's definitely on key.
@@itstyler6567 "I've got a unique vocal tone" is definitely something you'd hear in a "Worst Idol Auditions" -compilation :D
I agree she isn't actually tone deaf, but her untrained voice wouldn't even get her to the karaoke finals, so I'm curious if she was the only female voice applying.
You should check Agnetha's (from ABBA) take on Mary Magdalene. Definitely not tone deaf.
whats with the concentration camp image? This was over 2000 years ago FGS!
It's just a generic prison, every production of this has their own way of styling the show, some have been more sci-fi, some are modernized, but the same message comes through.
@@itstyler6567 Try keep it real at least!
Jesus lost his first choice
Oh Look! It's the current evolutionary state of the Trump cult!
I hated this version of Superstar because Tim Minchins autotuned voice was terrible...and totally unnecessary as the man can sing but Judas is a powerful part and he just doesn't fit it.
Loved the original and the one with Steve Balsaro playing Jesus.
I have to agree that is auto tune is awful and he isn’t my favourite (that goes to Peter Johansson) but his acting is fantastic and does Judas breakdown the best (Jerome Pardon did also act it well but I can’t stand his singing). I think he fits the role well and the rest of the cast is spectacular. I understand if one role does ruin the whole thing for you, that happened to me with Jerome Pardon in the 2000 version.
Steve Balsamo's was the tops for me too - my best friend absentmindedly mentioned she saw it during her GCSEs and I was like - you're so lucky!!
I feel Tim Michin is fantastic in his role as Judas so dont see what your talking about.
@@davidevans668 I hate autotune. Tim's Voice does not sound like that normally. That's why I hate it.
Mmmkay?
@@crooked_mermaid Check out Jerome Pardon in Martin Guerre.
The autotune in this sounds dreadful. It's honestly disrespectful to all the actors involved. Worse stage show of JC I've ever seen.
Zzzzzz...
Yeah Cell was the best DBZ villan anyway. Bye.
not the right voice
Wat opnieuw proberen? Met wie? Wat? Waar? Hoe? Weer een jaar corona shit? No thanks
What language, please? I like that this is in something not English until the curse and insult...
Personally I find Melanie dreadfully over rated.
Mel C! 😍❤
Best version of a great song tears goosebumps!
I used to wonder why they repeated the same lyrics over and over. Now I think the idea of this song was to represent a desperate prayer which the characters repeat over and over to deal with the reality they're facing.
Tim Rice did add a couple more verses for the twentieth anniversary tour in about 1990, but these two extra verses have hardly been heard since, which is a shame. If I were directing a production, I would certainly use them if I could. For the record these two extra verses are:-
Wish I could reassure you,
Wish I could talk to you and tell you how I feel,
This was unexpected, what do I do now?
Could we start again please.
You surely know I love you,
But something in me stands aside and lets you slip away,
Perhaps that's what you wanted, perhaps I want that too,
Oh could we start again please.
