@Dan H, When changing out control arms in the future, remember to leave them hand tight at the mounting locations then proceed to torque them down with the vehicles weight sitting on the ground. That way there us no presprung movement preventing articulation in the future or premature wear on the new bushings. This is especially helpful when using poly bushings to prevent unnecessary squeaking.
Check your upper 3 point link. Where are ya in NY I’m in central NY right off 81 Tully NY Great you fixed it but still check the 3 point upper I had to replaced mine turned out to be a big job.
Increasing length of front lower control arms from stock, will increase caster reducing death wobble and adding stability on highway (think Mercedes, higher caster, more stability at highway speeds). Did that at Alignment shop I worked at, on a lifted 4x4, all of the sudden I was the guy for lifted vehicles, and all I wanted to do was work on Mercedes...LOL. Ratchet straps, gotta love'em
And the proper time to tighten all the nuts and bolts is AFTER wheels back on and set back down, give a couple real good shakes and rocks,,, then tighten everything
What's the point of doing adjustable control arms if you're just going to set them to the same length as the stock control arms? Why not just get stock control arms at that point? If it's lifted, shouldn't it be longer?
Nice looking lower control arms. Those old busings were done. Definitely better in black. I feel your pain when wrenches are turning and rust dust is falling.
I need to get me some of those! They sent me an a-arm for Ruby months ago, but I havent had time to put them on. That is turning in to one sweet WJ, Danno... Jealous!
I do know that the yellow color on those things would have bothered me that much I'd have to paint them but I guess it's all up to personal preference nice job Dan
You worked a little harder then you needed too. You can remove the old control arms without remove the tire nor lifting the Jeep up. The only time I needed to lift the Jeep up was to align the mounting holes with the new control arms. You can do this instead of trying to fight a ratchet strap.
Oh Man... They straight up lied to me.. the Selden store told me it was gonna be another year before new ones were released.. I got 90% cash back and left
@@ProjectDanH i stand corrected. I returned my old ones and they were out of stock on the replacements when i brought them back last year. I never remembered to try and replace them and figured they must be in stock by now but I just checked the website and they arent! I have the 6 ton ones from HF that werent affected by the recall and I use them all the time. There was a casting issue with the recalled ones where the teeth werent made long enough.
@@smitty4699 I heard they used inconsistent drill bit sizes to bore the hole for the lock hinge.. That would be a reason why some teeth aren't one enough... I guess that makes sense
My WJ is 2.5 lifted with boot booster, How can I know how much extend /distance I need? if they are going to be the same length of stock why buy adjustable ones?
hello mister Dan, I have a question. Not long ago you installed the side members made in China on the bottom rear of your WJ. Are you satisfied?? Greetings from Switzerland
Wow another example of Jeep quality engineering. What were they thinking with those stupid oval rubber bushings. I bought my first Jeep, a 2003 Grand Cherokee because it was already setup to tow behind the motor home. Now I know why it was so cheap. Yesterday when I pulled the wheel to do brakes I saw that the rubber bushings were loose in the front and rear suspension. At 150,000 miles the suspension is shot and all the control arm bushings are shot. Thanks for the video at least I know how easy it is to replace everything.
Rubber bushings are standard in the automotive industry, they provide a very comfortable ride and deaden vibration. unfortunately they wear out over time.
@@ProjectDanH yea, why dont companies realize that less people like bright flashy colors on their vehicles. i have a few vehicles with old man emu springs that ride great, but will never install yellow shocks on any vehicle that i own (i could paint them, but i just bought bilstein 5100 instead)
I have been using my Pittsburgh jack until my wife bought me a new Daytona 3ton high reach. I have also been using a set of 12 ton jack stands that I got on the parking lot sale for $30. What are you going to do about the rear upper control arm?
I put a 6 inch lift on my jeep and now my rear axle moved forward and now I need get the rear axle moved back to put bigger tires on. Will these help move them back more to put bigger tires on?
Of course I thought of that! But I'd have to do it right. Take it apart, send it down, tape it off and do two or three coats... That would have taken all day and it was getting late!
Yea the original control arms were totally destroyed! I was moving jack stands all over the place in this Project. I had them under the axle in a very wide stance at first but had to bring them closer to center to get the control arm bolts out.
@@ProjectDanH Also Dan, when dealing with bushings, you want the weight of the vehicle on the axles before tightening the control arm bolts. When you tighten the control arm bolts with the vehicle jacked, then when you lower the vehicle on its own weight, the bushings twist. When doing it the other way, the bushings are not under stress.

yes! your absolutely right! I knew I missed something! thanks for the comment!
nice work! I just paid for my 04 Grand Cherokee to have all this done. 282K on the body!!! it feels amazing to drive. great video.
That is awesome! Keep it going!
Your gonna want to look at that V shaped center control arm as well. Ball joint or something in the middle too
Oh yeah buddy That a arm is definitely getting changed soon!
I love all of these videos, can’t get enough!
Thanks Dom!

You're absolutely right! I figured it replace all the worn parts first, then i can dial in the arms as needed. thanks for the comment!
But it will increase pinion angle also so can't get much increased caster there or you'll kill that ujoint
Love the channel. Just got these control arms in the mail, waiting on the upper for my wj. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks! Will do brother!

Thanks for the support brother! What rust plagued part of the country are you from? lol
@@ProjectDanH Kansas. Although I don't think we get it like the North East but that orange locktite and crumbling rust chunks do happen here as well.

Watching that rust fall off while you worked reminds me of my WJ - any time I had to hit it with a hammer chunks would fall off :)

Thanks Bug! They definitely came through for me big time!!! 🍦🍦🍦
I’m gonna order mine , and I have my black rattle can ready to change that color lol
Everything that breaks is an opportunity for an upgrade!
Bingo!
Wish I got free hook ups for my wj man I might be a little jelly. Don't forget to change your rear upper control arm.
Lol.. I replace it as soon as I can find some free ones!
I know this is a old video of yours but aren't you supposed to put red lock tight on the threads so the jam nut don't back off over time.
How have these held up from MXR? Looking to buy a set but not decided on the cheaper route, my WJ has a small 2.5" lift.
Not too bad.. I'm gonna be repainting them soon

You may not to take the trip, but there are about 10 premium looking Jeep Commanders here in SA. 🍻
Hmmm. I love a good XK 😍
i love my harbor freight jack it's exactly like snap ons but that's a hell no on my part on their jack stands
yes.. can't believe their quality control was so bad they had to recall something as simple as jackstands
Hi Dan I bought same brend of arms. But I notice that bushing it's lose. I can spin bushing by hand! Is that normal?
I don't think so. I would check with customer service. bushings should be tightly pressed in

Ok thanks for answer
Good choice to paint those arms. Cheddar-yellow is not becoming on your WJ. BTW 6ton jackstands are perfect for lifted Jeeps. Good job.
Lol! Sharp cheddar! I returned the stands and got 4 6Tons from auto zone 👍
Nice. I've got all 8 control arms on order for my ZJ. They're not adjustable like those, but to each their own.
awesome! I don't care what style they are as long as they work! lol
they look flash Dan ,,, Black with a dan sticker would be my vote
great idea brother!
You only have to tighten the screws when the vehicle is completely on the ground again.
yes
Have you been happy with the control arms in longer run?
Yeah!! So far no problems.. Had to torque the nut down twice since.
@@ProjectDanH Ordered some for my ZJ now. Maybe Ill add some mild threadlock while installing..

It possible these could help you with your adjustments. 6 inches is a very large lift on an WJ
Probably need adjustable upper control arm as well
About how long did it take ya to replace the rear LCA's?
not long, maybe 2 hrs.. it was pretty easy.
@@ProjectDanH sweet, thanks brother!
Do you think the tires are causing any wobble issues too?
not too likely. usually it's a track bar thing. it's possible bad tires can set off the DW if your track bar is bad.
How have they held up?
So far so good!
You need your steering wheel aligned Dan? Lol
HAHA, yea... this thing was all jacked up
Man I guess you need to extend the control arms little bit
once everything is dialed in I will extend them. 👍👍
hey buddy i think you got some jeep on your rust
LMAO! I THINK YOURE CORRECT!!!
What's the name of the website
Looks like a pipe wrench would have worked out okay for that.
I lent my pipe wrench to my mechanic... Go figure
You could be feeling alittle shimmy due to those tires being trash. But you probably knew that :o)
