Glad to see bells from older videos like the WRRS and the WCH from the restoration videos still ring strong! Also cool to see some new bells! Also that hybrid looks like a Westinghouse hybrid.
Excellent video Twigy! Do you have any tips and advice on restoring a railroad crossing bell? I've been thinking about restoring my hybrid bell as it currently rings flat.
Thanks! What I've done is use a wire wheel brush, sandpaper, or if I had access to a sand blaster those are what I use. For paint I use something called rust reformer and then I paint the color on top of that. For your bell making a flat noise, it's the rust buildup on the inside of the gong. Removing that will fix the issue.
Just acquired a WRRSC Model #222 crossing bell. Looking for tips on restoring. replacement parts vendors if there are any. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Great bells!

Oh, I usually give them an advance warning before I do stuff like this. They do get a kick out of it
