    The biggest problem with an old trailer is also the mold that you can't see..
    Be very careful staying in there especially with Leah pregnant, perhaps have someone come in and check that it is mold free.
    Not worth the risk of not doing that..

      Seeing those cushions…My guess is there is mold behind the woodwork too. I think you need to gut it down to the metal. Then let it weather a major rain storm and look for leaks. Then rebuild from the metal frame up.

      There is good mold and bad mould, that you want nothing to do with, and if you can’t see it now you don’t have a problem are you have looked in all the access areas.
      Vinegar and a drop of dish soap, gets rid of all you need.

    If you have the propane connected you need a detector to make sure the lines don’t leak and since the trailer has been neglected so long is my guess you could have leaks. Remember you can’t sm😂ll it before it can kill you. Please be careful. If it was my trailer I would take it to an RV service center to find out what is good and what is bad before staying in it.

  • @sdn40
    @sdn40 10 місяців тому +1

    It's a learning curve. You paid for the bones and reputation of that trailer. The cosmetic issues were inevitable with something that old. Getting the mechanical, electrical and water systems operational is priority one, and would go much faster if you brought in someone knowledgeable. That person would know what to check and how to check it. Very possible you could have all systems up and running in a day. Trial and error isn't the way you wanna go. It will eat up loads of time and sap your energy. Keeping morale up is essential and that's hard to do when you are pushing buttons and flipping switches hoping for the best. Stick with it.

  • @theresa337

    If you get the covers clean the easiest way to install new foam wrap in a plastic bag, pull it tight over the nozzle of the vacuum and suck the air out and put it in the cover. Taking the plastic out can be tricky.

    • @wobblysauce
      @wobblysauce 10 місяців тому +1

      Depends on the plastic used most you can leave in, and you won’t notice it, few slots on the zip, bottom side and you are not sitting on a balloon.
      But taking measurements of the old stuff would have been better as you know they fitted well in the first place.

    Random idea that worked when we cleared up my dad’s garage…. Invest a little $ and paint those wooden shelves …. I noticed that AFTER painting his shelves and adding some professional tweaks , once the shelves stopped looking like it was made of scrap wood he REALLY got into restocking the shelves in a more professional and organized way, instead of trying to cram everything into it…
    AND….
    We got him a couple of storage totes that combined were the 12 cubic feet max of junk we can take to the city self help center without being charged…. And then promising to take the junk to the self help any time the totes filled up. THIS simple gesture reduced his job to just filling the totes which while making the job take alot longer, didn’t make the job so overwhelming for him…. It became so much easier to get him to go outside when he knew that and 12 ft3 his job was done, and he couldnt be expect to do anything more until one of us did a dump run and emptied his totes

    Paul and Paige are literal saints for letting you blow up their garage like that. It's pretty heavy psychological stuff. Paige making sure to say that the whole family dumps their stuff there is huge. The fact that you all have THEIR house to land in is huge privilege. Be careful with their feelings. but also when you let people stay at your place you have to make place for them and their things. i dont own as much but i am also only 26 but if someone would stay here with me long term I would make space for them even in the basement so they also have space to put their things. my basement does not fit a trailer though 😂
      plus its good to declutter together so you know whats actually important to your family members. when we had to empty my grandmothers apartment there was so much stuff just stored no one knew what to do with or if it had any ímportance or connection to her. i love going through stuff with my other grandparents hear their stories etc its not all bad making space for new things and more importantly room to breathe

    Did you take measurements of the old cushions before tossing them so if you want to make new ones and replicate the original fit you aren't starting from scratch?

    My parents have an organ, maybe the exact same one in their basement that used to belong to my grandparents! I'm not sure why they have it. Nobody in the family besides my grandma ever knew how to play it.

    Sorry about those cushions/ covers -- I'm not surprised, but I do understand the disappointment. However you can look forward to something newer and brighter that could perhaps still pay homage to the original vibe -- I know you guys can be very creative. On the "burn it down" thing, I had just been thinking, since you DO have gas, at least you could have an "explosion".. I agree, insure it first, lol!
    Seriously though, sounds like you could get sponsored by Helix sleep systems and get a nice matress at the same time...

    Don't get rid of those barbie and other ornaments.... I'm sure they're collectors items and worth quite a bit.... keep them in the packaging.... you'll probably thank your step-mother later in life 😀

    Levi; I can't imagine organizing another person's tools, That's nightmare fuel.
    That's sad that you can't use the original cushions. But to be honest; textiles are the most justified to be replaced.
    Battery; hook up and wire in the EC Flow, find a refrigerator that would work on that if your current one doesn't fit the space.
    Rework this camper for you! Do you really need a faucet? The spray bottles seem to work fine and save water.... I understand about having a shower though 😂

    Had to stop the video at this point -- you CAN'T get rid of "the Essential Calvin and Hobbs"!!! Also, if you should happen to find "Midnight Run"(Robert DeNiro, Charles Grodin, 1988) ON VHS TAPE -- I have it on dvd already -- Shameful Remastering work takes away SO MUCH from the original format ( 2h 20min long ) -- please let me know. I'll pay CASH for it!
