    “Remember when we used to make minimalism videos” lol! Yup… but a whole other human means different needs and you are taking good care of him so it’s ok if to not try for hold to what worked before baby. You’ll eventually wind back to a a combination of old self and new self as he grows. That’s said, I was very happy to pass along baby gear when we were done and have few large baby items under foot.

      Yeah seeing how freely we have received stuff from other parents it seems to be the way it goes! Haha it should basically be a giant exchange program

    Loved this! It took me waaaay back to when our daughter was three months old and we made our first trip to “camp” (aka cottage/cabin, what have you) with her in March. We live in northwestern Ontario, and we headed almost three hours north. When we had our daughter, I assured my partner that babies are portable. What I failed to tell him is that there would be about 100 lbs of baby gear and supplies to accompany her. 😊 Fun times, indeed.

    This brings back so many memories: The car packed to the brim, the uneasiness of bringing a newborn to a restaurant/public place, getting back a different version of our former travellers life. A child should be an occasion to venture into the world not an excuse not to. Hope the trailer renovation gets easier and lead to many more adventures for you three!
    P.s. Being a parent and a minimalist is indeed quite the struggle!

      You mean with baby wearing in some way? That is bound to keep your baby much more calm than being in a car seat alone for some babies.
      I say this just because my girl when she was a newborn was very fussy on even the shortest car ride, I couldn’t have imagined traveling with her as a newborn. Of course everyone’s baby is different. I hope our second baby coming in May will be more chill in the car.

    Love your Christmas tree🎄!
    Since moving to Colorado, I go into the mountains and cut down a tree which needs to be removed for forest management. There is a spiritual nonprofit that invites people to their land to cut Christmas trees for donations… creative fire management & fundraiser combo.
    Did anyone else catch the ape/gorilla 🦍 sticker on the RV?!
    Also, how will you approach raising Frankie in terms of religion/spiritual journey? I’m curious what you think about that aspect of life.
    Love how your families support you both & Frankie and all of your plans/adventures. You are really lucky.
    Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁 Thanks for your online presence. It is a gift!

  • @BumbleSmeeBee
    @BumbleSmeeBee 6 місяців тому +1

    Halfway through the video I wanted to ask how you balance being wary of taking Frankie out and about (because of germs and respiratory virus season etc) vs not staying too isolated, and then you kind of answered it at the end! I gave birth to my kiddo at the start of the pandemic so that first year was mostly in lockdowns, and so my brain kind of breaks when I see parents with newborns eating at restaurants, etc! Both because I’m like, “oh no, what if you all catch something?” And also because it’s like something I lost/didn’t get to experience with a little baby, and it makes me feel a little sad. I hope you all feel better soon!
    (For context, I’m swimming in preschool germs right now and if I make it to January without getting sick I’ll be pleased, lol.)
    I’ll also say, a compromise between parenting more independently and inter-generational living is always choosing to live close-by the grandparents. Mine were minutes away and it afforded us privacy and autonomy but also lots of help when needed.

    • @LeahandLevi
      @LeahandLevi  6 місяців тому +1

    • @sailorbrite
      @sailorbrite 6 місяців тому +1

      If you mean being in the car, yes they absolutely have to stop. Baby needs to be in a car seat the entire time you’re in a moving vehicle. If you get in an accident, and you’re holding something, the weight of that object is multiplied exponentially by the speed of the car. You can’t hold on to it. And since she’s breastfeeding and not bottle feeding, she needs to take him out of the car seat. If you say “well we all did it 50 years ago and we’re fine,” that’s survivorship bias. You don’t hear from the people who did not survive because they’re no longer here to tell their stories.

  • @AndreUtrecht
    @AndreUtrecht 5 місяців тому

    I don't want to be a negative party pooper... but having all these loose items in the car is quite dangerous.... for you but also for the baby..... when you have to brake all of a sudden or when something else happens these items fly through the cabin of your car... hitting the people inside the car with all consequences.... but it can also get underneath the brake pedal ...
