    Knowledge passed down from grandma:
    Each pod has two seeds in it, it’s best to split it in half you’ll get more plants. It also speeds up the growing process.

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms  4 роки тому +29

      Yup. Except Cilantro grows awesome bunched together so with spacing NOT being an issue, you really don't need to split them up. Mine germinate in about 4-7 days normally, so speeding it up isn't a huge concern either! No wrong way though....you'll still get great plants by splitting the husks! Cheers!

    I'm not sure if someone can help, but I'm at the point where the cilantro sprouts are just starting to gain some length. I haven't seen any real cilantro leaves, and there's only one leaf node (for the ones that originally sprouted out of the dirt), and I was wondering what to do when they become too big for their little pot. Should I put them each into their own pot, what pot should I buy? I've never started my own seeds, so this is new to me. Thanks you the awesome video!

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms

      Hey Noah, if you're getting super tall Cilantro with just the seed leaves (cotyledons), likely you don't have enough light or the temperatures are off. Cilantro is grown in bunches, so no, each little plant doesn't need its own pot. Also, keep them moist, but not too wet. Best of luck!

    @the ripe tomato farms Some questions I have, an absolute begginer to gardening : 1. When do you moisten the potting soil, at the 75% mark when placing the seeds or afterwards? I always have trouble deciding this, and also when to know that Im overwatering/underwatering 2. I see youve placed your tubs above a spouting tray, is this just to keep it neat? Im guessing the main point here it that youve placed it close to a heat source ie radiator, or am I missing something else? 3. When you watered the bottom of the tray, how did this get to the coriander? Thank you, a new subs here!

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms  4 роки тому +4

      Hey Taryn, I moisten the soil prior to planting the seeds. The seeds need absolute moisture to even germinate.....the adult plant needs less moisture to thrive. I really soak the soil to germinate the seeds (plus add heat......you want 85-90F soil temps)....but then once you get actual Cilantro plants, back that heat off as well as don't water. In fact, after the initial soaking I probably don't water again for a month!
