Listen, I'm as cynical as most around here....But I am cautiously optimistic about the Fallout show. I despised Ella Purnell in that Snyder zombie movie, but she seems to have a decent take on this show. I think the set dec and props are absolutely on point...and Walton Goggins doesn't need to make crap TV these days. I guess we'll see.
As for Rings of Power? Who gives a shit? JSG must need an upload, because he hates this show more than anyone.

A show that's 90% good and sticks in progressive politics for no reason still sucks (Midnight Mass does exactly that, with a monologue scene about hatred against Muslims out of nowhere, for a character who is tough and wise and who complains about nothing). I think the opportunity to poke at capitalism, Cold War paranoia, and gun culture is irresistible. I could be wrong though.

The 'Rings of Power' show-runners, producers, directors, consultants and actors ALL made explicit their distaste for Tolkien's work. From the outset there was little more than contempt for both Him and His imagination from every level of the production.
It shows.
The problem is that the timeframe in the Tolkien universe it's set in, is the portion of the book content Amazon doesn't have the license for.
Which begs the question, why did they even bother doing it in that time period in the first place?

They just went out of their way to drop every ball and screw up in every way imaginable until they eventually started making up new ways to screw up.

When you feel the need to give a volcano an origin story, and that story requires getting even the basic physics of volcanism wrong.... yeah, in no fictional universe are you likely to find success. The biggest problem with Rings of Power is that it's just really bad.

In order to do it properly, they'd need the licensing rights to the Silmarillion since that's where the content surrounding Sauron's creation of the Rings and all the shenanigans he was up to in Numenor comes from. They didn't have those rights the first time around (which is a major contributor to why the show is so god awful). They are almost guaranteed to not be able to get them now from the Tolkien Estate after butchering it so badly the first time around.

my favorite part in rings of power was when female gay sauron (femron) was scissoring with galadrial while Celeborn was crying in the coner wearing a leash. ambiguously ethnic sauron showed up and handed femron the one ring, and said "the one ring, it is perfect" to which femron replied "It will be, when it fits a woman!" meanwhile galadrial proclaimed "there is a storm inside of me!" while showing us her O face, then Celeborn stood up and clapped. so stunning, so brave.
The show is very bad, yes - but so is this attempt at humor.

The one good thing about “The Rings of Power” is … they didn’t buy the rights to the Silmarillion so it will remain unsullied.
4 episodes was enough for me to know I want to watch something else. Unless they did some dream sequence to wipe out the first season or hired all new amazing writers , this show will never be more than disappointment
You outlasted me. I watched the pilot and half of the second. My son woke me up when the episode was over and I never watched it again.
they only part of RoP i watched was the volcano sequence because it was the shiny keys of rube goldberg machines.

Let's not forget that including diversity was so important to them, so central to their USP for this show, that they completely forgot about the two whole races of men that aren't white and have plenty of room for unwritten stories in the Second Age that wouldn't need access to more material than is legally available.

It was totally wild realizing that Rings of Power came out in September 2022. Where does the time go? Wow
I’ve got a genuine suspicion that AI was used to write the first season, at least to a degree. Every line of dialogue spoken by the elves was the most generic and artificial feeling lines every put to a script. Almost every sentence contained some sort of over elaborate metaphor and unnecessarily complex diction. It felt as if someone prompted an AI with “high fantasy dialogue from pretentious ancient elves” and went with it.
You're giving modern writers way too much credit saying it was machines that wrote it, and not them. I mean you're sort of correct that it was machines and not humans, but these are the college-educated type of machines.
If Amazon wants to save money, they could fire some executives (preferably the ones that signed off on Rings of Power) and hand the rest (including Jeff) a hefty pay cut. When will the little guys stop paying for the mistakes of the higher ups?

After the review I left for season 1 I'm not surprised Amazon left any hint about season 2 off my prime feed. And I'm grateful, I wish I could get the time back.

It is rumoured that Cera will play a "stoor" ( a branch of a hobbit) . Apparently, he will be in Nori's and Gandalf's arc .
It is also rumoured that Sauron will be played by both Vikers and Calam Lynch. Lynch will also play Celeborn. It is said that , there are 3 potential endings for Celeborn's reavel, and at the moment, all of them are plausible. The only thing that is apparently decided upon is that Sauron will disguise himself as Celeborn and "mess" with Galadriel's head.

UA-cam changed their algorithm in January. It's messing with a lot of channels, regardless of their size. It seems like YT is picking and choosing who to promote. I've had to manually check for videos from popular channels like Rick Beato, which never used to happen.

I'm not watching it, I fell asleep in the first episode and that was enough for me. I watched the breakdowns and wow, not worth my time. We were willing to provide them with our armorers and horsemen but they went the CGI and portly unskilled extras road.
They don't want to hire a storyboard artist because they want to save as much money as possible in case the season flops. More money means they can make another season for the sake of pushing their message.
They "demoted" they show runners from last season which mean they got fired but will receive a screen credit
