So happy someone dropped this a day early! Love it! For anyone interested, this song is about Albert Severin Roche, known for capturing over 1,180 enemy soldiers throughout WWI. He ran away from home in 1914, and despite being deemed “too puny” by his superiors, he proved himself as a member of the regiment called The Blue Devils. He saved his captain who had fallen behind enemy lines by crawling to him for six hours, and then crawling back another four with him on his back. When they both got back to their comrades, Albert dropped from exhaustion. Only his captain’s positive testimony saved Albert from execution. He was known as “The First Soldier of France” for his deeds.
