I first heard her music when visiting my Grandparents who had one of her records. I must have been 13 or so.. but her music, her voice, instantly enchanted me. I was hooked. I brought all her music thru all my teens and 20's. Then way gets onto way, and I forgot about her. Only to be enchanted all over again here in my 50's. Like I'm hearing it all new again. She is as always, enchanting!

She deserved a standing ovation for that performance. She's one of the greatest story tellers of our time and when she delivers a song so honestly and beautiful it's magical.

In her autobiography "Singing lessons" she describes it as 'a song I wrote after a dream about Stephen Stills.' Even though the usual story told is that she did the dumping, the relationship evidently haunted her as much as it did him ('Our stormy affair lasted about a year but produced heat and fire in me, at least, for many years after that.') Their heartbreak has left us with a gorgeous legacy: this song and the CSN hit "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes".

I was in the audience the night of this performance. It was magical.. It was also one of the last times I had the pleasure of listening to the magic of Arthur Fiedler. As for Judy, she is a treasure. Her music always makes me smile.. What more could you ask?

This song breaks through material reality into the transcendental.

Definitely one of my faves by her. I've seen her live something like 8 times, but she only played this at one of those concerts, the first one I think in '77. This song also shows what an EXCELLENT songwriter she is.

Her poetry or her voice, I can’t decide which is more mesmerizing. Saw her in Gettysburg on stage a few years back and she sang to us, ever so sweetly and intimately. I’m ever grateful for her music.

I saw this as an adolescent in 1976 and fell in love: that voice, that face, and ,as a young male, that body! I was entranced and transfixed.
I am equally so at this moment.
I love her spiritual intensity, as well as her slight shyness around Mr.Fiedler.
    Thanks For Posting.

Recall this was the B-side of the "Send in The Clowns" (UK) single, and feeling I'd found a flip side as great as the flipped over one. Stunningly beautiful song.

Ah, the B- side sometimes surpasses... "Houses" is my favorite Judy song. Two of my siblings and I enjoyed hearing Judy sing it a few years ago at The Chautauqua Institute
My classroom's front wall on either side of the clock facing my students was graced by the front and back photos of Ms. Collins' 1975 "Judith" album. Without fail over the years, a cadre of high school juniors would recognize the opening melody of CSN's "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" and were happy to learn that photos of Still's inspiration were (no doubt at times) capturing them, too.

In the intro to Mary Martin's PP, the narrator says that some people believe we become different people at different stages of our life, but she doesn't believe this.
We simply move from one room to the next. But always in the same 🏠😄.

Written for Stephen Stills. The other side of Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.
