Sax Alto : Dan Higgins
I'M aware of the bad quality of the sound of this video.
the source is much worst. i tried my best to reduce the noise issue which was there in the original video and some other issues, but couldn't do more than what is there now. so enjoy this video "as is", even if it's not perfect, it's certainly better than not having it at all !
I love the saxophone.
me to!!!
amazing peformance, incredible orchestra!!!
This piece and performance sound like it.
John Williams is the Yoda of film scoring. What a complex beautiful piece!
Dan Higgins sounded great! and thanks to John Williams for a superb score and alto solo.
John William best score and especially alto saxophone was tremendous
It really gives me 60's vibes.
The Grammys brought me here. CONGRATS!
The second and third movements are VERY difficult to play and wow what skill and dedication it takes to play them. Bravo!🔥👍
This wonderful piece of music art deserve a recognition in the People like the works in Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Indiana Jones.
Bravo!
One of the best works written for saxophone and orchestra!
1st movement - 0:00
2nd movement 3:00
3rd movement 7:53
DAN HIGGINS! Always superb
Playing this on my Senior Sax recital in 3 weeks. This piece is amazing.
So yeah, alto and vibes awesome but shout out to any leftover percussionists out there who get randomly assigned that killer bells part.
12:24 coolest part of the whole piece!!
A genius of outer space,congratulations!!!
I had no idea those sounds at 0:05 and 0:10 were vocalizations. I thought they were some kind of percussion instrument
Yep, the score has a note with a cross for a head, and the word "Shh" written above it.
I thought it was percussion until I saw this comment. That’s crazy.
Unbelievable genius
No. not compared to the greats. He is average, pushed to the top. but he is very derivative if not an outright plaigairist
@@evanlohning LOL
@@evanlohning lol ok
Beautiful!
So awesome !
❤LOVE 😍 THIS
MY FAVORITE.
Nothing beats the original really!
Yeah, Will Hudgins (vibraphone monster)
Amazing!
the tempo and metre are a complete mindfuck
C'est trop beaux!!!
sensacional!!!!!
maravilhoso!!
Violins coming in at :41 .. then at 1:31 ... brilliant
I wonder if this amazing piece has ever been attempted since. Picture college sax and vibes players sweating over this worthy goal.
Catch these notes if you can!
My college band is actually playing this piece
gamergirl 662 I hope you post it on UA-cam.
It’s played quite a lot.
I Memorized the vibe part. It only took 6 months, lol. One of the hardest 2 mallet parts in the percussion repertoire. Funny thing is, it seems simple now. I’ll perform it 4/27/21. Can’t wait, it’s such a great piece!
Does anyone think the Vibraphone player looks like David Hasselhoff?
Reed Benson ikr!
WILL HUDGINS!!!
Hi Didier! You've newly uploaded this? Did you modify the sound or anything? I know the original video source was really crap in the first place. Still, Awesome to see this footage. This 'Evening at Pops' series is so well made, and they don't seem to be doing re-runs of them. I hope the episodes haven't been lost.
+zoltan902 hi Zoltan, this video was there on my account since a long time, but as
i'm an hearing impaired person, i never listened to the sound of this
concert yet (i can't listen to music actually, but i'm not deaf), so i
uploaded it without knowing that the sound had a lot of bad issues in it
in 2010 or 2011.
someone told it to me two days ago only , as nobody complained about the
sound since the beginning lol ... so i removed the old version
yesterday and with a friend of mine we reduced the background noise as
much as we could without killing too much the music.
so it's still annoying and not good, but a bit better than the one who
was already there until yesterday.
in this same concert, unfortunatly, i can't upload indy's first
adventur, the video is completly blocked by youtube.
i have 3 other tunes, that i'll clean the sound with the same parameters
for this one and will upload them soon.
so the sound will still be crappy but less than before.
as you know, the original recording for this one has been really badly
done, with distorded sound, way over the 0 db. so i let the videos , so i
hope people will forgive me to not being able to reduce more the crappy
sound. i tried my best with my actual situation !
+martyprod2 That's awesome that you're going to all that trouble - I hope it's worth it.
I think people haven't complained a) because it isn't your fault and b) there's probably not much to be done about it - it sounds like the issue was picked up during the VHS recording.
I've been looking all over the internet for any chance that someone might have uploaded the 1999 episode where JW premieres "Duel of the Fates", with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus singing.
I hope PBS hasn't destroyed or discarded the master copies, but they don't seem to be interested in redistributing them either.
All he best.
+zoltan902 hi zoltan, i added this text in the infos. sorry i can't do better than this :(.

is Sean Austin playing the vibraphone? or mallets?
Sax 🎷 giving me touretes
Who's the vibraphone player? He is awesome!!!
Will Hudgins. Absolutely stellar playing per usual
Vibraphone be crazy
@1:00
Who is the vibe player
Will Hudgins

Sadly John Williams just shakes the guys hand at the vibes. Man, what a great job he did, playing along all this tiny notes the sax-player can hardly play. Awesome job!!! He deserves to stand in line with Dan Higgins.
Hardly play? What do you know about him not able to do this solo?
LOL what are you talking about, Dan Higgins is a god
You guys got me wrong. I did not want to deny Higgins talent and work but honor the job of the other guy; who is sadly just "the other guy". Did not mean to offend you or Dan Higgins.
Simon Wiebe YOU OFFENDED ME
just kidding, but I get your point and it's true, the vibraphonist was killing it
True, but you brought it like he wasn't playing well at all.
Anyone know what orchestra this is? Thanks for posting!
Boston pops orchestra.
@@Martyprod2thanks! Any idea what year? (Just out of curiosity).
certainly 2003 or 2004.@@beatmydrum
@@Martyprod2thank you! I should’ve known it was Boston - I believe that’s Will Hudgins on vibraphone, a fantastic and longtime percussionist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra (he sounds amazing on this very challenging part!).
absolutly ! you're a percusionnist ? roxan ? tips to recognises the boston pops everywhere : they wear white costumes when they play as the pops, and black when they are in "boston symphony" mode ;) but i'm sure you already know that !
i'm a musician too, you can find my channel here if curious : www.youtube.com/@didiermartini@@beatmydrum

In a US symphonic orchestra you can be of any color, as long as it isn't black.

I think Douglass Cardwell in New Mexico would disagree with you. I also disagree with you.
Thats probably the biggest gig this guy will ever have.
Ear rape :(
+martyprod2 Don't you dare remove it! : ) Great upload.

Cool! I hope you will be able to restore the audio.
+Weta hey Weta, here is what i added tonight in the info.
just remember that the original source video who was there on my account since 2010/2011 was much more awful than that.

martyprod2 no need to explain yourself. Thank you for the upload my friend.
these people really clapping in the middle of movements smh
Nul, comme musique. Très déçu.
