- Hey everyone!
Hope everyone is safe and healthy during these crazy times. I'm not technically quarantined, but taking the advice of all of our leaders and staying home as much as possible. My school is currently closed for the rest of the semester, my clinical boards are cancelled, and my written boards are postponed. I have no idea when any of this will be rescheduled but as soon as I know I will be updating everyone on here. Thanks so much for your constant love and support :)

I’m so sorry your hygiene school experience is being interrupted by the quarantine...I hope you get to go back to school and finish it right!

I’m planning on starting my pre req in like August and I’m nervous to start because my teeth aren’t perfect and I’m just worried that my confidence is going to go down. I first was in college for nursing basically because of this reason. Things in my life happened, and I wasn’t able to pay to keep going to school:/ but I feel like that was a sign that I should go into dental hygiene once I save enough money lol
Don't be nervous about that! There are many many people without perfect teeth in the dental field including me, my peers and my professors. Don't even give that a second thought :)

I'm new to your channel and have only seen a few videos but love the information you share with viewers! Were you a dental assistant before the hygiene program?
I wasn't! But I did work in the front of a dental office prior to starting the program to be sure I liked the environment

I am also in my second year of hygiene school. We were supposed to be done in June, but we cannot return until summer quarter to complete requirements and take our WREB clinical exams! I completely feel your pain! But we are so resilient and we will for sure get through this! 🦷💜 Quick question - what boards prep are you taking? I’m currently taking StudentRDH, but I’m interested in seeing if there are others available you’d recommend?
As of right now we can't even come back in summer :(

I'm currently using StudentRDH mainly, while also using Darby's Comprehensive Review book and my Dental Hygiene Seminars book. I'm gonna make a video on that soon but I'm really liking StudentRDH!
I forgot to mention - I’m also using the app Dental Hygiene Mastery. One of my classmates recommended it. She was able to take her NBDHE right before Pearson canceled all of their exams (I was supposed to take mine at the end of March😭). She passed and she said a lot of the questions on that app are VERY similar to the ones she had on her NBDHE. Hope this helps!
Hey! I just wanted to ask how difficult the micro biology and chemistry courses for you have been? I’m really interested in pursuing dental hygiene, however those are actually the courses that I struggle in the most. And frankly those are the courses I’m most worried about not doing well in it I went this route. I’ve taken college anatomy and physiology and got a B, but it’s the molecular level science that I struggle with more. Were those classes really intense? Did they involve a lot of math?
They were definitely hard, but doable! I would recommend taking those one at a time (not together) so that you can really focus and make the best grade you can.
I feel bad for the seniors. I just started hygiene school this January and like you It's messing their timeline all up.
I'd hate to be in their and your predicament.
I don't know what they're doing about finishing up their clinicals. I heard they may be waived and just given to them as completed credit. Not sure.
Yeah it's all so crazy. Just trying to trust that it's all gonna work out!
Just found out that I didn’t get into the 2020 DH program here in my school 😢 so bummed out! I have a friend who said her cousin got in and she was shocked she did because she doesn’t really want to be a hygienist and she cheated her way through classes. I’m sad because I feel like she took a place away from someone who really wants it and deserves it. Oh well. I’ll be applying again this fall. Any advice?
I didn't get in the first time either and it was the biggest blessing for me. I was able to figure out health issues and lose 150lbs! Try to look at the positive side and try to improve your application for next year in any way that you can! If this is what you want keep pushing and you'll get there!

How would one make breakfast broccoli?
So I really had to get the idea of traditional food roles out of my head, haha. We're brought up to believe that breakfast has to be certain foods, but it's a meal just like lunch and dinner. So having regular vegetables for breakfast is totally okay! I boil broccoli, or sometimes when I want to spice it up. I'll take fresh broccoli, cut it up and saute it in some garlic ghee and a little bit of salt :)

If I went to school for dental hygiene in a different state than I want to practice, should I move and just take my boards exam where I want to live, or take my boards and transfer the license? It's completely fine if you don't know but I can't seem to find this information anywhere online, so I figured I'd ask you. I love your videos!
You would have to research what clinical boards exams that state accepts, as long as you've taken that exam, then you can apply for licensure in that state (you would probably have to take a state laws and regulations test as well before applying for that license).
