I've been an Elvis fan since I was a boy. He died the year that I was going to go see him live in Portland, Oregon. With all respect to this video, indeed Elvis did record this song because I used to listen to it on an LP record when I was 12 years old. It was one of the first songs that I memorized and learned to play on guitar, and I got it from an Elvis album.
How can anyone disagree with what you all have said; his last performance was 06-26-1977, he had concerts each week that month & so much of his music was speaking to Christ; I believe as well he knew his time on earth was almost done & it was important that his life, his success & those he loved know the blessings he had felt from God throughout his life; Elvis was a blessing from God just as his voice & his talent he knew was a blessing from God. Boy, he was something else....The Holy Spirit would come over him and he Never stopped it...he would do what he was supposed to do, whether it be to sing a song ,say a sentence that was profound and unforgettable to someone, throw a ring in the audience, bring a child up on the stage and hug them which was spreading the spirit as well with adults, pay for medical bills for a total stranger and keep in touch with them! The list goes on and on! He always said "I do what I feel" on stage! MOST of it was The Holy Spirit!

It's obvious from this recording that he was very sick and had been for sometime, his breathing is very laboured and his voice weak - very sad. Thats not to say that he didn't record some of his best vocal performances in his latter years - I personally listen mostly to post 1970. Listen to his original version and appreciate just how special this individuaL was it goes someway to explain his ever increasing popularity. I love Elvis he Talked to you in his songs that related to him a his lonely personal life. I believe Elvis was born Gods chosen one. Yes he sinned we all do he was only human. But I need when he was alone he was constantly praying a meditating a talking to God a his mom. Elvis carried his faith alone. But his love a faith never wavered in God a he never forgot where he came from. I believe Elvis was clothed in God's shining radience of love a joy poor a lonely at heart. Thank you for posting this rare and historically significant recording of Elvis singing "Where No One Stands Alone". Elvis received this album, written and recorded by Don Gibson (it was his first Gospel Album) the year after Elvis beloved Mother passed away. Elvis had to purchase extra copies of this album as he played it so much as the songs helped him cope with the loss of his Mother. Thanks again, take care and may God bless you.

Mosie Lister wrote the lyrics to this song and Merle Haggard recorded it also. What a thrill to have written a song that those two recorded! It doesn't get any better than that for a songwriter like me.

Makes one weep especially with all those disloyal to him, the people he was surrounded by that he took care of his entire life. They tried desperately to ruin his legacy but it didn't work.
