Hey 👋 I have a new update video on resin tips with all the new knowledge I have learnt since making this video. ua-cam.com/video/N7-k86HHQdQ/v-deo.html
To see a stunningly beautiful looking woman doing a tutorial on a subject without showing T&A and you actually know what you're talking about! Keep up the great videos 👍👍👍
Wear protective gear! I cannot stress this enough, I've seen multiple youtubers and fellow resin artists develop respiratory illnesses because they didn't wear respirator. You need protective glasses as well, the fumes can hurt your eyes. Epoxy resin doesn't have a scent so a lot of people dont take this seriously and get hurt. Be safe and resin your little heart out.
I was thinking about doing resin stuff but now that i know that i have to buy whatever that is I'm not gonna attempt it why is everything so complicated i just wanna do something fun for once
I recommend not using a lot of plastic that you just throw away. Cups holding a canvas might get dirty but just let it dry and reuse them. Plastic covering work surfaces can also be used many times. Save your money, and help reduce harmful plastic in the environment while creating beautiful art.
Great idea. To be more mindful of this!!!! It's so easy to just toss stuff in the trash when we don't want to wash things out... like paint. I need to be more mindful myself so thanks for mentioning it!
someone said it thank you! It's stupid to throw away just because it has colours on it, better to just recycle on your own than throwing it away and it never really getting recycled.
Thank you for the nice video! I really recommend to wear gloves (you never know exactly if there will fall any drops on your skin) and respirator when working with resin. Even if it doesn´t smell that bad it can give off toxic fumes.
Exactly! Just because you cannot smell it, it doesn’t mean it isn’t harmful. All it means is that you cant smell the fumes slowly killing you. Resin should always be handled with gloves and in a ventilated area, so if you dont have a respirator, go outside instead. Many people are not aware of this!
Michael Burry, I assure you you can find a lot of information on your own. It’s a real threat so there’s a lot you can easily find on the web. Including scientific data. If you dont believe that then resin art is NOT for you.

I got really nervous when you started mixing without any protective gear and obvious ventilation procedures. But calmer when I noticed everyone in the comments letting you know! I hope all will be well, thank you for the vid!
What a terrific tutorial for those of us who are just scratching the surface. Brief, friendly and gems of information. Love to see more of your thoughts and tips. You've already saved me hours of frustration. Thank you.
Hello, I am thinking about trying resin myself. Do you I suggest that you do it in my room, or my basement? Also for the mask can I use a normal facemask or should I use something special?
I've just started work with resin but it's not crystal resin.... My question is Q: how resin glows after it get dries, when I used resin it has a milky look ? & is it necessary to fire or use heat air gun to make it glow?
you're a great teacher - you cover all aspects in a quick and interesting way - i learned to so much and have saved this in my favorite vids to look up in the future.
Hi thank you for your teaching on UA-cam you are very easy to listen to. I have a question which i hope you can answer for me. I have been painting tiles to make into coasters to give away for Christmas presents. My husband is resining them for me but the resin is pulling away from the side edges of the tiles. Have you got a solution to our problem and if so what can we do? Thank you look forward to hearing from you. Regards Maria
I know shes an artist and her work speaks for itself, but this is a beginners video and those of us who are trying to learn something cant hear her due to the loud music. It has something to do with the recording, I am sure she did not intend it to come out that way. Great work!!
I'm just starting out. Fantastic beginners video!! I can't wait to see more tips and tricks especially using resin :-) but I've also used many of the other mediums you put up so far ( such as gold leaf!) thank you, and beautiful work!
I really appreciate this video, you have answered all my questions. The music didn’t distract me at all,and I am very distractible. Thank you so much for sharing this information!
SamuelJ thank you :) I'm doing a piece like this for a client. So I used a small board to make sure they like the colours before doing the full size board.
Thanks for the video! If you don’t mind me saying, maybe you could look into some reusable items instead the cups, knives, sheets and boards you used? Each step goes a long way and a step from you can lead a lot of us newbies to not generating a lot of unnecessary plastic refuse. Thanks again!
Sheri, I have watched your videos & love your beautiful art works. I have tried & getting to understand acrylic pour & swipe technique and I would like to venture into resin art. There is very little information on how to mix resin colour using acrylic paint. As I live in Hong Kong there is no access to resin pigments like in Australia or the US , hence I am more or less stuck with acrylic paint for colouring. Other source says acrylic being a water based product which does not mix well with resin. I will however try using make up podwer for glittering effect. Please be so kind to advise on mixing acrylic of acrylic paint for resin art!
I am going to start using resin for the first time and was wondering if I can use any type of plastic cup to mix. Question 2: Can I use a heat gun at a fair distance to remove air bubbles? Question 3: I will be using sea glass which is heavy and sand dollars which are light, can I do part of my pour first, then wait until it begins to set, before I add my sea glass, covering it with the remainder? Am trying to prevent it from settling on the bottom. Can I just drill a hole at the top to add my pendant bail? Would prefer to see the bail thru the resin pendant. I plan on using silicone moulds for my forms, will this be ok? Also, I cannot find much in the way of resin forms, can I use soap moulds for other things such as bracelets and sun catchers? Am doing my research before I start making all kinds of wonderful treasures. Thank you. Coreen
Coreen Smith hey :) So many questions I hope I can answer them all. I just used cheap plastic cups but most plastic are fine. Yes heat guns work for pop resin bubbles. For moulds I recommend silicone moulds as the resin won't stick to them. When adding items to the resin you can do layers at a time. I would just to test piece 1st to make sure it works out the way you have it planed.
How do you know which resin to buy or how to mix them? I’m a beginner. My understanding is that there’s only a ratio on the bottle so I’m curious to learn
I really appreciate the time you took to make this video knowing there's a lot to do when you edit a video. Thank you for sharing these tips but it would be cool if we could get more details on the measurement for example or how you got the result at the end of the video. Thanks again and have a good day!
My question is about adding color/pigments. What kinds can be used. Can I use acrylic? alcohol ink? nail polish? food color? etc. I've been searching online and have not found any one source that explains that. Also, most of the cool inks, pigments and glitters are australian companies where the shipping is too high to send to the USA. Thanks for your help. :)
Depends, but from what I've seen, you can use just about anything except watercolours or anything with water in it, as it won't set properly with water. I've seen alcohol inks, pastels (both chalk and oil), acrylic paint (but not tempera, as it's water based), powder paints... all kinds of stuff. Plus adding glitters, metallics, and other stuff if you really want to go wild. 😊👍 Forgot to add you can get everything from places like Michael's and craft shops. (Not American, so don't know what other places there might be)
Love your videos but the music is a bit loud 🤨🤣. I am considering making coasters and small art work to sell for Christmas, what care instructions would you recommend I include. Thanks for all your inspirational ideas xx
Sheri, you work is lovely and so neat and clean, not like some I have watched making a big mess an so much waste. Do you add something to thin the resin to get it to pour easy? Keep up the beautiful work!!!
Elaine Moltrup the resin I liked to use is not as thick as other resin I've tried. You can always add a little bit of acetone in to your resin. Just be careful that you don't add too much because it will effect the resin setting.
Is there a substitute I can use instead of a blowtorch? I looked it up and it said I shouldn’t but I have seen many others used hairdryers and even just blew through a straw and their pieces came out really well.
nice and clear and a good pace....neither hurried or boringly slow - thanks - but being a beginner, I wanted to know what the 'colour' was..... you didn't say. Also, at the beginning you didn't show us what you'd be making, or what it could be used for.... and any safety concerns..... breathing.... food..... would have been useful. And what can resin art be used for? Or not used for? Basic Beginner questions aren't easy for an expert to anticipate but I liked what you did.
I made a tray (resin) and the outside is dry but the whole thing bends. What went wrong?I made sure the measurements were exact. Should I have stirred it more?
Hi, lovely easy video. Are these acrylic artists inks?. One thing I have discovered..dont do resin on a damp humid day! be patient, don't tip it after a couple of hours to see if it is dry. :) I did that cos I couldn't help myself first time I tried.
Hi, looking into starting resin art.. are you supposed to wear a mask because of the harmful chemicals? I heard someone else talking about it but I’ve watched a few videos and some people aren’t wearing them! I’m confused 🤷🏼♀️ xx
Very nice. Thanks!! I think i now what i did wrong. I used to much acrylic paint. Because the mix was in a couple minutes already stif, it wasn't fluid any more. I gues when you use acrylic, you also use a drop, and not a full (dinner) spoon.
I really wanna start a resin business but I dont know what platform I should sell on. I dont live in America or the UK. Any recommendations on what selling platform I should use?
What type of resin are you using? Most videos I've seen, the resin artists seem to be in an end of the world movie trailer with heavy gloves and respirators. What do you use?
Okay I have some questions... Why show only a partial list of protective gear needed and then not use what was shown? What about the heath risk of not working in a well ventilated area? (This o think is my biggest one) is there a simple mathematical formula for determining what 5 to 10% of your color is to the resin? I noticed in the video you divide the resin into multiple colors so how do you know what 5 to 10% is when there is no exact amount to begin with.
I have few questions, it would be great if you can help 1) Is it okay to not use the torce? 2) How to get rid if the resin gets in contact with skin? 3) I read somewhere that we should take resin in right proportion of weight only not volume, but you used a measuring jar(probably measuring volume), does measuring by volume works?
Sheri, thanks for posting your video. I have done a painting on a coffee table in acrylic paint. I was hoping to put an epoxy clear coat over the top of it. Have you done this type of thing before. Picture first let it dry then poured the epoxy over the top. If so do you have a brand of epoxy to recommend for this type of thing. My concern is the epoxy will soften the paint and when i trowel the excess it will smear or streak the painting? Any advice? Thank you, Mick
Thank you for beginner tutorial. Can you please list the items you have in this video? Which 2 resins did you mix in the measuring cup at the beginning
Great video! Sorry to see so many negative comments 😔 people now days seem to look for anything to complain about. The music was fine, you did a great job and as far as safety I have watched 100's of these and very few people wear glasses etc. Some things are common sense but buy some of the comments common sense and kindness is definitely a rarity these days!
Thank you for this video! Do you use the blow torch for the top layers as well as the bottom? Can you explain a little more about how/when/why to use it? Thanks & looking forward to other tutorials.
Hey 👋 I have a new update video on resin tips with all the new knowledge I have learnt since making this video. ua-cam.com/video/N7-k86HHQdQ/v-deo.html
Question, what is the part a and b ratio?
Why do you need music playing in a tutorial, it's so annoying
To see a stunningly beautiful looking woman doing a tutorial on a subject without showing T&A and you actually know what you're talking about! Keep up the great videos 👍👍👍
Exactly ...the music is louder than her voice and so annoying
I have no idea what you just made.

Hell yeah I do it in the shed heavily ventilated with a respirator.
@@Icantdothisanymoreplskillme I mean it's a mask that you can buy in any ace hardware. It just filters out the fumes
Well not all of us has a gas mask laying around so a mask will have to do

Else F I do reused my cups as the resin once it's drys just peels off. The resin also peels off the baking paper too. 😊
Lynn Moore Sheri reused everything over and over she said that before she never used anything plastic just once
@@MileyonDisney haha sheri always reuses even in her face to face classes

Yeah I really couldn't hear her
Yeah I agree but just put captions on
🤣🤣
Thank you for the nice video!

Hi what is the colour you use? Guessing its not normal paint, where is the best place to buy it from?
did you pour two type or resin and mix them together?....or what was the first thing you poured in the measuring jig?
Very well explained, thank you for sharing, but your music is very distracting.
just wondering what time of paint you are using with the resin, im a beginner and dont want to mess it up, thanks

Exactly
It’s hardener! Usually they come in pairs together. It’s what sets your resin.

Caren Kaziyev I recommend wooden boards for the best results
Can you use water based colours or acrylic paint or does it have an alcohol base??
