    I recently took my father and little brother to IMO the nicest shooting facility in our area to get them at least comfortable with the basic fundamentals of handgun safety, marksmanship, and physics and trusted the rentals at the range as opposed to bringing my own guns this time. They were almost complete beginners. Long story short out of 3 handguns I rented, one was the CZ Shadow 2. They thought they were naturals haha. I was trying to tell them it was just the pistol but they didn't understand lmao. They both were banging solid tight groupings at 15 yards out. With the .45 and 5.7 they were nowhere near as solid.

    The TSO is the best gun that I have. The size of the gun is perfect, no issues with the size. This gun has made me a believer in single action only handguns with light trigger pulls. I have not purchase a DA/SA handgun since purchasing this gun. This gun is well underpriced for what you get and the fun you have at the range. I am not a competitive shooter and highly recommend this handgun to anyone.

    Love me some CZ's. Wow that trigger has a short pull and light and I can see why it took some time getting use to. My Shadow 2 is 3 pounds and I like it a lot.
    TSO is very nice but staying with my Shadow 2 for now.
    Good review KS.

      It’s tough to beat the Shadow 2 and it’s definitely a favorite in the collection Randy. Frankly, it’s every bit as good as the TSO. Thank you as always and cheers brother!

    I’ve owned a TSO in .40 for 2.5 years now... all I can say is wow, what a firearm. A friend is a gunsmith, he fit a 9mm barrel (mill 2 spots for breach lockup) and now I can shoot both 9mm & .40 (change magazine also) with practice shoot consistent with either. You do have to get use to the trigger, it is extremely light and smooth, there is no wall, it just breaks. Love all my CZ’s, but this is my favorite

    I thought the TSO had always included the orange paddle mag release. That's one of the few things I dislike about my TS2, that it doesn't have the paddle mag release and it doesn't have the frame mounted thumb rest. I just got a used Czechmate, though.

    One major factor that got me into investing the TSO is that it still heavily resembles the original/classic CZ75 design. I've always wanted the SP-01 Shadow and 75B as collection but figured "why not invest in the culmination/evolution of both designs?"

    I got a CZ Shadow 2 about 3 month ago, can't put in words how good it is, you can't miss at 7 to 10 yards, is that good. The grip is a bit narrow for my big hands, its very heavy, but it is a delight to shoot, it is true, once you experience this, it is hard to go back to other guns.

    Great review. I shoot a Tactical Sport (TS) Czechmate for fun with Scale Grips which are more aggressive than those supplied with the gun. I measure the trigger at 1 lb. Top of the Mountain CZ shooter.... ah the Czechmate. Tell us what it is like. I have never seen one in person much less shot one. I own merely a lowly TS and an S2. :-)

    • @jeffreygilbert1141
      @jeffreygilbert1141 6 років тому

      It is heavier than the S1 and S2 and after shooting 50 rounds my arms hurt since I am 77 yo. Very little recoil and very hard to clean. The trigger as measured by my Lyman gauge is under 1 lb and there is almost no takeup and the reset is almost not present. I am still not comfortable with the trigger. I shoot my S1 (Target II) and S2 (with a 13 lb hammer spring) significantly better at 20 yards. The gun comes with 2 barrels and a Cmore red dot mounted to the frame, not the slide. (I changed the red dot to an RMR) I enjoy shooting the S1 and S2 better. They are my favorite 9mm pistols.

    Custom LOK grips too. Sweet. I have a bone stock silver and black TS with the wooden grips in 9mm. $600 less than the TSO without the magazine well, adjustable sights, or thumb rest. Checkering texture is not as fine and grippy and plastic trigger rather than the anodized one. I am going to add an adjustable rear sight and a fiber front sight from CGW and the race trigger and probably LOK grips and the metal mag well. Lots of dry fire to get used to the trigger is a wise thing to do before going live... I compare it to clicking a mouse button when it is properly adjusted. HANG ON TIGHT. it will seem like a bump fire if you don't follow through and pull all the way to the trigger stop. You will get an unintended double tap if you don't hang on.

    Having a PPQ with it's zero pounds of take-up & ~3# trigger that I could set off with a shiver, I can't imagine an under 2# AR spec trigger on a pistol like that one w/o constantly using the safely. Talk about "real"!
    And even though it's as wide as a semi, the left side thumb rest is a nice addition. The whole pistol is just under the weight where it would qualify for wheels & a trailer hitch. No wonder there's practically no flip! Nice review as usual.

    The nice thing about the CZ is you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good one. Even the POLY frame CZ'S are great guns and very precise and make better "carry" guns than the heavy azzed gun this guy is getting all giddy over. The older CZ75 is also a great pistol and can be very competitive. The older Omega's are also beautiful pistols.

    It's a great pistol for competition, I have a couple of CZ's, one is a PO7 and a TZ 75 series 88 from Tangfoglio. I carry my PO7 as an EDC weapon. 42 oz is just way too heavy to carry. If you've ever heard of Jeff Cooper, he only liked 2 semi auto's one is the CZ and the other is the Colt 1911. Beautiful weapon. STI and Infinity modify these guns to the max and the prices are pretty steep at 3 thousand to 75 hundred bucks. Way too much for my social security check.

Two of my favorite calibers 9x23 Winchester and 10mm are not possibe from CZ but that's why I have two Tanfoglio Stock 3's. Tanfoglio builds a very good gun, but I think a CZ is a little better.

    I love CZs tho I do not own any, there is more than a few CZs on my to get list.... and between the shadow2, TSO and the Orange is one spot on my list and still having trouble deciding which one would best fill that spot for me, I am not someone that can buy all 3 .. so seeing more direct comparisons between the three would be nice

      depends on the several factors but it goes like this :
      if its just a range toy and you are on the budget then get normal Tactical Sports - bit cheaper than Shadow 2 with super light and clean single action trigger
      if you want gun that can pull multiple duties - range toy, competition AND sidearm/home defense then Shadow 2 is the way to go as its the only one with double action capability (be warned thou it doesnt have firing pin block, so DONT DROP THE GUN its NOT drop safe)
      and if you want cream of the crop and are willing to pay for it the TSO is hard to beat, the Orange line means its hand picked parts and hand fitted by REALLY good gunsmith + the frame is a bit different as its the same frame used on Czechmate version - standard TS frame doesnt have the "peddal" which also is the mounting place for upper optic rail on Czechmate so if you go Orange you have a bit more room for upgrading the gun
      i personally own Shadow 2 and i shot Tactical sports (range i go to, basically EVERYONE has one :) ) and they are both phenomenal handguns, Shadow is just a bit more "practical" where TS and TSO are straight competition/range only guns

    Excellent review I’m looking at getting one of these. I love my SP01, but I’m curious about the difference between the two?

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  6 років тому +2

      Thank you! Both are excellent guns but the SP01 is far more versatile being smaller, lighter, and has the accessory rail. It also is double action and single action. It’s an all arounder versus the TSO which is really geared for competition or range use. Hope that helps! Cheers!

    What's the difference between this and the CZ Shadow 2....they made this gun distinct from the Shadow 2 for a reason. Leaning heavily towards the Shadow 2 as my first gun. I'm in Canada so the rules are different. This will be strictly for sport at the shooting range. I will need to catch up with my friends whom have higher calibre Glocks. I really appreciate the video informing me of the existence of this pistol.

  • @1madmax22
    @1madmax22 5 років тому +1

    That's an awesome looking gun. I like it better with your stuff on it, and I like everything on it too. Its a frickin nail driver isn't it? You know, it sorta looks like the slide rails are cut thicker than my SP01. I'm just starting to have slide lock fail too, and have no idea whats up with it. I don't ride my thumb on the slide either. Something is worn down too much, or something. I don't think it's the ammo bc I've used the same ammo all the time, and if anything, the recoil spring would be weaker, right? Sorry to get off your nice piece there, I'd like to have one, but I think MSRP is a little high for one of these...around $1.4-$1.6K and higher, right? I've pretty much just started my little collection, and after the Beretta M9A3 was bought, I've decided not to pay that for anymore guns unless it's in the "must have" category. This one, for me, is in the "special-I'd like to have it, but no real use for it" category. If I was shooting in matches, I'd get one. So I like nice guns that are definitely quality, but if I can't beat it up just a bit, I don't really want a pistol thats gonna sit. This would probably be my favorite, but even between the SP01 and a P10C, I like the P10C by just an R.C.H. just bc you can beat it up a bit. Really, "beat it up a bit" just means shooting the hell out of it without any problems, so the P10C just moved up a notch bc of the slide lock failing on the SP01. Ok, sorry so long...great gun, great video. Its one to get if you have the extra cash to put towards one. If you want me to remove this lengthy post, its ok, or I'll shorten it a bit. Thanks. They are going to be a rarity as far as the U.S. is concerned, bc CZ told me these don't usually make it here...Maybe I SHOULD get one.

  • @frankhellman6879
    @frankhellman6879 6 років тому

    It would be nice if they could work out a way to ground in the serrations all the way to the back of the slide, raise them up along side of the rear sight, and still leave room for sight adjustment. Of course the sight couldn't be beveled, it'd have to be screwed into a milled slot, maybe a drawback. Just a thought.
