Everyone remembers the songs they heard and fell in love with as a kid that, when they listen to as an adult, makes them feel like a kid all over again. My daughter is six, and last week, this became her first experience with falling in love with a song. We listen to tons of music together, and she has a lot of favorite bands and songs. When she heard this for the first time, she asked me, "Why does this song make me feel like I'm floating?" and listened to it at least five times in a row. She's never asked to listen to a song more than once. Thank you so much for creating this moment and memory for me and my daughter, James Mercer and Brian Burton. I'm terminally ill, so every day is far more important and urgent than I could have ever imagined.
Your comment resonated with me so much, I feel deeply for you and your relationship with your daughter...I had a shoddy relationship woth my dad and our song was Stevie Wonder's Superstition haha...anyways if she like this Broken Bells jam I think she (and you) may like this...Electric Guest jam. Heartfelt and catchy. Also, maybe even just straight up The Shins would be dope for you guys since James Mercer is the lead in that as well. Im sure you know I'm just sharing cause I'm caring! I wish you the best days and memories with your lil gal.. blessings man❤❤ua-cam.com/video/I1AmkMuB0pA/v-deo.html
Thank you. That means a lot. We listen to The Shins, Guster, Florence and the Machine, Tool, Nothing But Thieves, tons of 80's music, Billie Eyelash, or whatever her name is, Manchester Orchestra, and AWOLNATION to name a few. I always pull up the lyrics for her, because she loves to sing, and to understand the lyrics. I love that girl more than I could ever even begin to describe.
This is such an important moment. I'm glad you experienced this. She'll remember of this song a few years ahead and remember of you with her, for sure.
Anyone listening to this banger still in 2024? I just discovered this band in 2023. Good Luck, The Chase and Love on the run are some of the best music I’ve ever listened to
Broken Bells is the kind of band to release one song a year, just to give us our fix after getting us all addicted in 2010/2014. For the love of god put out another full length album or go on tour!
@@Littlebabyandersen I think it should be taken with the line that comes before, or at least that's how I view it. 'After the twilight, always a sunrise. But the glow of morning comes with small arms fire'. After the dark times comes the light once more, but be prepared to fight for the light, be prepared to fight for the good times, for once you are past the darkness.
This song, this group, has helped me hold fast through so many rough seas in this life. As the storm ahead of us darkens the sky once again, I just wanted to say: Thank you for everything.
just as an FYI: Broken Bells is an American indie rock band composed of artist-producer Brian Burton (better known as Danger Mouse) and James Mercer, the lead vocalist and guitarist for the indie rock band The Shins.
My whole life i was never really into music and broken bells was one of the first bands ive ever got into. And since then ive realized i have a love for music. I really want to thank this band tons with helping me deal with heartbreak, my teenage debris, and finding out who i am. Much love! And good luck to everyone!
I don’t usually comment on songs but this has easily been the best song I’ve ever heard, I’ve listened to it probably over 100 times over the past 3 days I’ve learned of this band (other songs are bangers) every time I listen it’s like I’m listening to it for the first time. This song is genuinely changing my life and makes me enjoy everything like it’s my first time. Good luck is one of those songs that makes you remember how good it is to be alive and appreciate the small things like smiling at strangers or seeing the sun rise in the morning. Truly a masterpiece, thanks Broken Bells.
Semi slo-mo fade-in-fade-out transition montage sequence (one character is looking down, then looks left out the window, it’s raining) while we also come to terms with and ponder about the curious parallels in personality, values, and standards between the main character and the murder suspect.
It's so weird seeing people say that this song is out of their usual style... like, this sounds just as broken bells as they always sound. It's very good!
These guys are the only band I've ever found where I can listen to any song they have released and love it. They are just so good. Looking forward to a new album
I’ve been binging this song for two weeks. It’s so reminiscent of Gnarles Barkley, with that classic Broken Bells vibe. I love Broken Bells, and have been listening to them since their first album. Everything Danger Mouse and James Mercer makes is existentially enthralling. I love their music so much! I hope a new album is coming out soon, since this EP hit UA-cam in September. 💖💖💖
Is it sad that I really have zero affinity for the Shins, but I love this band? Seriously, from the day I heard Broken Bells I've been infatuated with them. So many good songs, and the albums have great flow, like they were put together intentionally, not just dumping the songs into a bag and pulling 10 or whatnot out at random. Keep up the amazing music 🎶 🎵 ❤️ 💙 💜
You might like "Wincing the Night Away". But I could maybe see how Broken Bells could be a good bridge between the music you tend to favor and what kind of stuff James Mercer is capable of. That said, "Wincing the Night Away" is probably the album that falls closest to what the Shins have that sounds anything like Broken Bells.
This song was presented for me by a girl who i fell in love with. We had a lot in common, including our taste in music. Since then, this masterpiece got into my list of favourites songs of all time.
