Even as an American, I was glad to see all of the international routes. But this got me thinking, there might be a cool series in here if you did it by region: too three in the southeast, west coast, British isles, Pacific Northwest, etc.
Living only 60km's from the Ardennes Arbalete trail...i'm probably just a little bit biased. Thanks for adding it to the list, the southern part of our tiny country has a lot to offer when it comes to bikepacking. And for those who won't stay for the trails...our beers are so good they're on the Unesco cultural heritage list.
I've ridden the Cambrian way in Wales. It is beautiful and rideable in 2-3 days , Knighton- Aberdovey station and back to knighton (for me ) Faster for many, and 3-5 days taking it easy for both ways. My only disappointment was arriving at Aberdovey station hungry and out of water and desperate for a coffee, only to find there was no cafe there! The next one may be the Highland Trail. Good routes and lots of helpful advice for bikepackers , both new, and experienced
I did the ardenne arbalette this late august beginning of september, around the F1 in Spa weekend, so I had lots of rain and some dry spels, especially the last day. I found the southern part perticularly very nice, with hard climbs and steep wet boulder decents, the best part. the northern part, and start of the route, takes you on a very nice 15Km bikepath where you can get used to your packed rig. I did this route instead of the Vosges route through to the Netherlands due to the Covid-conditions at the time.
Thanks for the inspiration! I found myself in the UK and had a few extra days. I did the middle loop of the highland 550 and it was nothing short of spectacular. Lots of rain, very remote and many magnificent views. I’ll have to come back for the full route.
Thanks Neal for doing the video. I have been biking for the last 30 years and just starting bike packing the last 2 years. I have done the Katy trail, Section 1 of the Great Divide and the Huracan 300. I just joined the Bike-backing Collective and hope to add the Katy Trail in Missouri.
Nice to see the Trans Cambrian Way on this list. I live in Wales and have been slowly building my confidence bikepacking. Will have to give it a go soon 🙂
Thanks for the video. I’m from Australia and the Tassie Trail is extremely challenging yet amazing. One of the best trails in Australia. Thanks for your content 🙏🏽
Great inspirational presentation, but the phenomenal thing about bikes is that they can be used virtually anywhere and to the level of the user. One of the greatest inventions ever. keep up the good work.
I am looking to do Asiago (as I am living abroad in Italy) and I want some Vermont rides. So the VTXL and the Green Mountain Gravel Growler. I am new to gravel riding but I had a wonderful experience of riding the Rooted Vermont race back in July. Thanks for this video!
Well that added two trails to my list that I want to do and the site one more. I was surprised the Katy Trail wasn't on the site though. Looks like I have motivation to get the trail done and try a submission to the list.
I rode the Katy last summer and really enjoyed it. That said, do try to avoid the hottest part of the year and watch out for biting flies in certain sections.
i love the look of the BC trail and the Colorado trail. i am hoping to start the Bc and ride on to the GDMBR until i reach Colorado. rest for a while in time for the Colorado trail race. but first i must conquer the all-new EDT... epic trail it looks. and i will be basically riding home from St Johns to Florida. thats why i want to do it first
That Euro Divide route looks interesting. 7000k is just the distance across Canada which is probably tougher. Europe is more interesting! I cycled the length of the LF1 route four times and also around Turkey. Always meant to do the rest of Western Europe. And my French and Spanish aren't too bad.
This was great. so glad to see TWO BC routes. I can't wait to do the N. Vancouver Island route in the Spring. I wanted to do it NOW, but you know, weather! I moved to Vancouver Island partly to ride all the back roads. As a Vancouver Rando I already rode all the mainland BC routes including into Alberta all three ways. The Crowsnest route (BC Rte 3) paralleling your Fraser Valley - Fernie route really sucks (climbs, heat) so I am tempted to try that - after I get in shape. I guess you could always bail and cut over the the Crowsnest if necessary!
Andy Cox work on the European Divide Trail is nothing short of outstanding. Maybe there will be a FTK effort by someone. I would like to think it’s me (lol).
Interesting to note that two of these routes are in my backyard and already on my list. But the other routes all have their appeal. Too many trails, too little time.
@@alumenyame8351 we put bigger tires and gears on our classic touring rigs, but that was not enough. Too much weight, too little traction, too little experience riding tails I guess. Also some of the smaller trails were quite overgrown in the summer. After one day we took official bike routes that were amazing (and on asphalt). Good luck and have fun!
I actually have, I did just the Colorado portion of the GDMBR back in 2017, that was really cool, just to do the state as its pretty easy and fun, but I might ride or race North-South next year. I wonder if it would bikepack well, not just race. Congrats to your lady!
It was my daughter, who in her young adult years, has become quite the endurance gravel cycling athlete & runner over the 14s elev there in Colo. So proud dad. I do gravel cycling on Oregon coast mtn range timber trails on my channel. Peace. Good work
With the potential of rapidly changing weather at high altitude in Colorado, be prepared with proper gear, clothing in particular. Hypothermia can ruin your entire life.

The Colorado Trail is absolutely a MUST DO! It's incredible.

I really appreciate the tire/bike recommendations. Really helps in planning routes.

Thanks so much for the support, John!
Thanks for the large hit list. I will do what I can while I can. I do like the idea of bikes and beer so... Vermont first.
The Munda Biddi Trail in Western Australia would like a word
Nice to see the Trans Cambrian Way on this list. I live in Wales and have been slowly building my confidence bikepacking. Will have to give it a go soon 🙂
Try it in 4 days. A lot of bike packers who say they've done it in less have cut the course. I can tell just by seeing where they did go.

I am making a huuuuuggggeeee route in La Mancha (Spain)... At this time has around 850 kilometers but at the end will have around 4.000 - 5.000...
aye bonnie lad, i'll take the highlands, Scotland it is for me, but all the routes look EPIC! thanks

Haven’t had the opportunity to tackle any yet, the Appalachian Gravel Growler, is on my list for sure though!
I want to do them all!! The breweries in VT... mmmmm
Great vid! Thanks for the inspiration, as always !
These all look like awesome routes, thanks! And an early congrats on reaching 50K subs!!!

oh hello
i did not know bikepacking was a thing
i did not know there were bikepacking youtube channels
i wish i'd known about this 30 years ago...

Now I want to ride them all
I'm a little shocked the Arizona trail wasn't on this list.
It would be in my top 12, thats for sure, but the people have spoken and they are not searching it as much as these 12.
SO good
We rode a short section of the EDT this summer and were certainly not prepared for it 😅

nice video
Can you do a showing of good road bike touring routes? For those who would like to road tour rather than dirt only.
The ACA has some great road specific resources. www.adventurecycling.org
Any updates on the eastern divide trail?
Очень интересно!
🎉
There is now way, it seems, that Vermont has more unpaved road than states like Nevada, Utah, etc.
What about the great divide
The GDMBR is maybe the most talked about route in the history of bikepacking, It's good to see others highlighted.
You forgot the Oregon Timber Trail, probably harder and definitely longer than the CO trail.
Not as many folks are searching it. It’s on my list so I’m excited to try it out.
So have you considered the new Colorado North-South bike packing race? Check it! My girl finished 3rd OVERALL!! 529 miles, 50k vert....

Why there's no Kyrgyzstan trails ?
We have them on the site, but these were compiled based on traffic popularity.
Hi friends... how can I reach you to share and if you want, work together in Guatemalan extraordinary trails.

I think there is a Brewpacking tour in Oregon. Used to be. Weed has been legal in BC for three years now. (We have mushrooms too!)
