    Thank you for your videos. They are very instructive and entertaining. The most holy trees/plants in the Druid tradition include Apple, Oak and Mistletoe. Mistletoe represents both earth and sky, since it grows on other plants, needing neither earth nor sky, but is still able to survive. When (they) cut it down, they wore white robes and used golden knives, during certain phases of the Moon. Yes, we sometimes use its wood to make wands. Many plants are more effective when they are cut at certain times of the year, or during certain phases of the Moon. We are careful not to allow Mistletoe to fall to the ground, as this could make it lose its powers (healing energies), and it is used to treat hypertension. During a Winter Solstice ceremony, the Moon is called upon to heal, and cutting Mistletoe at this time is the best time, in terms of healing energies. The Moon's energy helps to increase the intensity of the plant and its berries. If the Mistletoe grows on an Oak tree, this is the most powerful type of Mistletoe, since Druids hold it in the highest esteem. (In my tradition, the neo-pagan Druid faith, we believe the Oak is sacred.) Wherever it grows, it is able to acquire the essence of the tree which it attaches to, or feeds on. Most plants are heliotropic, that is, they grow a certain way or in a certain direction because of sunlight. Mistletoe is very different from other plants in that it grows up, down, every which way. In midwinter especially, it could have open flowers, immature leaves, and depending on where you lived, it has red, and/or white berries. These represent fluids from humans: semen from men and blood from women. In other words, it was neither sex exclusively, but both at the same time. Also, there isn't a specific sequence of growth like most plants, which usually produce leaves, then fruit, then 'die' over the winter. The Faerie realm (Tuatha Dé Danann), also a 'timeless' and eternal place, was represented in the Mistletoe's ability to produce berries, yet also flowers and leaves at different times.

      Nice! Thanks so much for that info! I know the Celts/Druids were very similar to the Norse but didn't know all that. I love to learn more!

    Jackson Crawford did a video where he stated something along the lines of 'unlike other Ancient European deities, Norse Gods are more of a symbolism for different personality types.' This also backs up what I've been saying, we got more technology and clothing to deal with winter these days, if we were to go through another ice age it wouldn't be great but we'd cope better considering what we have. YOu make a very good point, this has been very enlightening. Thank you!

    I really enjoy listening to your wisdom of the gods , very informative . I've been drawn to heathen path through a chance incounter, and my interest in pirates over the last 5 years.
    So I'm kind of new to this path,and being delexic I find it easier to listen. Not saying I can't read , I can but since I had brain injury 6 years bk I have pronounceation of some words problematic. I've been trying new paths but heathen path suits me better, 🙂🧙

    Loving the videos on Baldr, Hodr, and Nanna. Have you considered making one of the child, Forseti?

    I call myself the light man. I travel all over and people & animals love me as I love them. I am a bro, but some people call me a woman or a pretty guy. I thrive in Summer and wither up in the Winter. Not mistletoe, but I just got annihilated by poison ivy in the hills of Indiana. I felt like I was supposed to share this with you. Good video by the way brother 🤙🏼

    The druids *also* have a preoccupation with mistletoe.

    May I humbly ask where you got Hod and Ull to be the same god from? I’d like to check out the source(s) to gain more knowledge:-)

      Always! Hodr and Ullr are definitely not the same. I don't think I said that in this video? I could be mistaken. But they both come at the same time. See my video on Hodr here. I will do a video on Ullr soon

    I like to think that Óðinn told Baldr he would be reborn after Ragnarókr. And that his death was purposeful, in order to start the new cycle. Or maybe I'm just getting too "woo" 😆 ....your theories are really great, more than not they seem spot on for the info we have

    A videos or series on the work of saxo gramaticus's version of the myths would be interesting. Not many people cover that version of myths. Do you think saxo was closer to myths told in Denmark or just rewrote the versions we have preserved?

      @norsemagicandbeliefs8134  3 роки тому

      Yes that is the most unreliable source we have. But there is alot of good info in it. For the mythology, my guess is its mostly just rewritten to fit a historical narrative.

    The more I watch your videos the more you make the gods seem like simple interpretation of a world people didn't understand. Hard to believe in the gods if I listen to you because you make sense.

      That should make it easier. The practice of Germanic paganism was about communion and connection with nature. These story's are metaphors designed to inspire positive interactivity with nature and each other.

      this has been explained on another comment in this video. they are not the same, but they show up together. Think of it like Baldr (light) and Nanna (summer).

    Hey. What do you mean about the meanings of Baldr's dreams? They are clear and mean his death. That's all. Every man should have prophetic dreams about his life: will he be lucky on oncoming days, will he get ill or even die. If a man can't do this, it means his/her chakras are blocked. So if a man can have it, so how a God can't have such dreams? :)
