Baldr real meaning
• Baldr Real Meaning: Tr...
Every God/deity/character in the Norse myths had a translation and real meaning. When we start to understand this, we can see that the Norse pagan myths were not just a bunch of unbelievable stories meant to entertain children. We should not assume that our ancestors were that dumb to actually believe in these things. All of the myths and gods symbolize real things in nature, the cosmos, universe and spirituality. Although we don't know exactly what these myths represent all of the time and theories are debated, we have to look at these things to determine the most logical ones and discover the real truth.
❤️ as always. Thank you again for doing these. These explanation vids are especially helpful.
i love these linguistic breakdowns! one of the best ways to better understand the ancestors
That was Very interesting! Thank you very much 😊
Its like the legend of the oak tree vs the holy tree... wow... thank you very much, i understood it way better ❤
Thanks for the insight.
Amazing information.
With Hodr translating as Killer/slaughter could he also have be linked to slaughtering farm animals at the end of the summer?
Good point. Hadnt thought of it that way. Its probably also partly that. Thats when the sacrifices happened too at this time of year.
@@norsemagicandbeliefs8134 THE HACK!?! IS IT REALLY TRUE THAT HODUR'S OTHER NAME IS ULLR!?! WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT!?! I MUST KNOW!!!
You should do a Colab with Ocean Keltoi. He have a good UA-cam Channel too. Your videos are awesome, man!
Havent heard of that. I will check it out! Thank you
I like this theory better than his who most not be named. It makes more sense to me. I am not sure about the rite he talked about...but then, I wasn't there and didn't grow up in Norway with Norwegian folk customs. So I dunno, but this is simpler to me.
Yes I do like "his" theory. But there is some holes to it. I think he drew mostly upon parralells among the Kóryos practices. Really interesting.
@@norsemagicandbeliefs8134 I've got everything he's written ;)
I'm Wiccan and there seems to be an ancient way of thinking that's inherited into Wicca, darkness doesn't necessarily mean evil but just as it says....dark. Just as the day is bright, night is dark but that doesn't make night fundamentally evil. Anyway, that's how we think.
Well apparently proto Indoeuropens had Devine horse twins one light one dark one was a warrior one was a farmer or more into domestic stuff
A nickname voor the white mistletoe berries in Dutch is Freya's tears.
So when Hodr doesn't come back after Ragnarok, maybe Ragnarok is the end of the ice age... What possibly is what's happening right now.
Yes. Happening now.........Or going to happen soon. Ice ages always come in periods of 12,000 years. We are due for one now. Lets see!
@@norsemagicandbeliefs8134 yes, or the end of the 2.58 million or so old Quarternary glaciation.. Because the glacial period is actually overdue but it's getting warmer instead of colder.
@@noctiloucous Warm will bring about the cold
On this instance seems that Snorri's telling s more authentic than that of Xeno (in Denmark) tho mb not?
How often do people assume you're a hippie type? Cause my hair is just as long, and so is my beard. Recently I got called a hipster Smith, on my Blacksmithing channel, and it kinda made me perturbed lol. And not to say all hippie/hipster types are bad cause there are some really cool people among them. Some are cultists, but that's a story for a different day.
5:19 - n esp in Nordic countries
It's the yin and the yang. In the spring the light kills the darkness.
Light deprivation ! Being from the midwest
The light deprivation in Washington state is enough to bother me.
Basically the mistletoe was a bad omen and change of season
HODOR HODOR HODOR
I think that Hodor was a great guy and that Bran Stark survived due to his heroic sacrifasion
Joking
