Jasper pet skunk VERY GRUMPY
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 бер 2010
- throwing me some attitude and getting sassy. He was having a bad day I guess. He does this once in a while and won't let me even touch him. He cools down eventually. Usually I just ignore him until he does, but for the sake of capturing on camera I did provoke him just a bit HAHA.
Also, for the record, he is going after some crumbs under the oven. Not a mouse. He actually won't eat them.
This is Nov 2009 - 6 mo. old .

Even when he's grumpy, he sounds so _adorable!_ MYEHHHHHHHHH
Its hard to be taken seriously when the angry sounds are so adorable.
Oh. my. gosh. What a little sass-muffin. I want him.
Yes, they have a very good sense of smell. He was probably going after some crumbs. I'm pretty sure he would fight a bear for a crumb. haha.
10 years omg💀
MRRRRRREH! >:\
I think he's saying," Momma, there is one little nugget of cat food under this appliance, AND I WANT IT !"
Hahaha! Jasper is throwing some major skunkitude! Screeching and all! LOL
He's mad because he can smell the bits of Crap and Garbage underneath your oven but can't get to it. Who thought he was looking for a mouse I'd like to have a talk with them.
Somebody needs a nap. XD
@whiterthan hitler ?
Jasper is soo adorable! I didn't even know people could keep skunks as housepets! Definitely going to look into it :)
Viper Hydar I thought being a dick on the internet was over..
Samantha, check out your state laws concerning owning a skunk. Many states have laws against owning skunks, I know IL is one of them.
Viper Hydar usually people do research on things the want to know more about, but they have to know what they are looking for. You can't go on google, search pets and I'm feeling lucky and pop up with pet skunk. I found out that you could have a skunk as a pet through youtube videos. Not in my country yet, but there is a lot of great info on the net, once you know what to look for.

don't you think she was implying that she was going to look it up ? It's not like she has to fucking tell you exactly what she is looking up I mean damn dick much...
Jasper never fails to put a smile on my face.
Years ago a mother skunk and her baby would come on my deck and eat cat food . Even though they were wild the mother would let me pet her and the baby. I never got sprayed.
Animals know if you love them 🦨🦨❤ 💕💕
He smells something he wants, and he wants it for himself only lol... TIS MINE.
Aww he's so cute when he's grumpy.
He sounds and acts too cute~ "Jasper." "mrr >:("
the little fit at 50 seconds is hilarious
Funny...I would never have expected a wild animal to be so cute and cuddly and sweet when a baby and then it decide to be mean and grumpy when it grows into an adult!!
his little grumbles awww
@Cwisiee Thank you! :) I try to keep everything off the floor to discourage Jasper from climbing/knocking it over. I have a few litter boxes throughout. Usually one to two per room that he spends the most time in depending on size of room. He will use these litter boxes 90% of the time. Sometimes he likes to rebel and pee in a different corner but its not often. They are just lined with newspaper/magazine paper and extremely easy to clean.
Hey I just found your videos and I must say even in grumpy mode Jasper is adorable. Keep up the good work
Excellent videos...I just watched of few of Jasper. He reminds me of my ferrets from many years ago, especially his "Energizer" video, very playful. I saw a skunk at the end of my driveway as I was bringing out the trash and he, too, was grunting and dancing around when he saw me...except, he wasn't a nice guy like Jasper.
They are extremely domestic. A proper breeder will have bred them from a domestic line that goes back decades. That being said, Jasper can throw tantrums occasionally as seen in this video. But 90% of the time he is a cuddle bug; affectionate, playful and a rewarding companion. Having enough room for them to roam around and let off built up energy is essential. Being caged at any time is unacceptable and will result in a very unhappy animal. Free roam is ideal.
OMG he is soooo cute. I didn't know they made such noises. Sassy little cute fellow!
Those noises are ADORABLE!
Awww he squeaks in the cutest way when he's mad.
is he de-glanded (u must NOT come near a grumpy skunk with gland-intact XD)
Have to love your Jasper. I didn't really get them to vocalize till I got the third one, Cooper, now Agent Cooper. Cooper needed a home, when his owner could not keep him, same with Professor Moriarty, the brown and white. Gherkin the Mighty was the first one I got, with all papers, after my first baby died, just short of 9 years old. Then, let me not forget Dutch, a chocolate and white, who arrived with distemper, and couldn't be saved. Poor Dutch.
This vid reminds me of Ferret Bueller haha. Whenever I say the word "no" he sulks around and hisses at me angrily.
The only thing this skunk is missing is it's own bedroom so it can storm off and slam the door and shout "I wish I had never been born". Hilarious back talk at 0:46.... Adorable little thing even when he's having a hissy fit .....
haha, I agree. These moods don't come on that often, but when they do it is quite amusing.
I caged my skunk the first couple weeks I had him only because 1. I have other animals that needed proper introductions, and 2. He was very overwhelmed when I tried to just let him roam. He felt more comfortable in his "nursery" cage. We have upgraded his roaming space to the full bedroom, and will soon, within a week or two let him into the living room. I am sure they only venture from the den little bits at a time in the wild. Not all at once. I personally recommend nursery cages 1st wk home.
I watched only few of your videos and you seem to have a good sense of tidiness and cleanness and your house reflects that. I often see people with small mammal pets living in places that look like a mess. My question to you is this. Have you trained Jasper to use a specific spot in the house for his "business"?
I would have looked under the stove to find out if there was something "smelly" down there. Ask him what's wrong ;)
The SASS! He just isn't himself when he hungry. 😂😂😂
@angiesupers hehe, he's actually on the smaller side for adult skunks. He is about 3.5 lbs. If you are planning on getting a baby, they are only born in the springtime just so you know. But you should check out a rescue organization to try and adopt a juvenile or adult.
decker: stop
jasper: LEAVE ME ALONE MOTHER I AM ANGST I MUST REBEL
He is definitely being grumpy because I was interrupting his search for crumbs under the oven. He is picky about mice and doesn't seem to like them. Yes vision is not the best and they do rely on smell more...but after analyzing skunk skulls in a lab, I was surprised that their nasal cavity is not more extensive (ie. suggesting poor odor capabilities). Definitely still better than us though but not as good as a dog.
“Jasper” “Relax! I’m just trying to reach that french fry under the stove!”
even aggrivated he is adorable.. so.. you say its once a month? get him some loving..
he's adorable! and his grumpiness makes me want to play with him even more! even though he is grumpy i would just grab him up and put him on my face like i do my cat and my ferret. but since i raised my cat and my ferret since they came out of their mothers' womb they both do not ever attack me like they would an ordinary owner (of a cat especially). i wish i had one but i dont know how to raise a skunk. :(
Hmm, that's like a hungry cat that's cornered a mouse.
What a lovely cat.
@ferronthewolf I believe that they are in legal in canada. My suggestion is to do tons of research, get on a skunk forum and ask lots of questions and talk to ppl that live in the same area as you to make sure that there is nothing else as far as special permits or anything that you have to go through. I do know that they are not required to be descented in Canada like they are in the states. I live in Pennsylvania. Thanks for watching!
How old is this feisty critter? We just purchased a 1972 log cabin with fully wooded land. I've been studying all I can on young wild skunks and other critters. The skunks and raccoons seem to co-exist fairly well!
@ShawnaTheGirl Yep they get trimmed. Their quicks are long, much longer than dog or cats so their nails need to stay long too. They use their long nails to hold their food.
omg those little noises it makes
@ChibiFoxy92 Yes, domestic skunks are descented at an early age. Typically well before you get them from the breeder.
Hunting for fallen scraps and maybe frustrated he can smell something but can't reach it.
Does he ever bite hard or anything crazy?...EI would you say he's on par with a cat for attacking?
LMAO!!! I've never heard a skunk do this before. Thanks for making my day!!!
@sdeck09 I was just wondering if Jasper ever bites you? And does he have sharp teeth? He's so cute & my sister really wants to get a skunk, so I'm curious.
Those irritable sounds are hysterical!!! Lol
@08mrspaddy Yes, he will get into a really foul mood occasionally. I call it his skunk pms. He gets grouchy and wants to be left alone. So I do just that and let him calm down. He is usually back to his normal loving self the next day. All skunks are diff though and their personalities can vary. Some are very cuddly 24/7 while others do not want to be held at all. I would say Jasper is 85% a cuddlebug lol. His bites can sting but I know when they are coming so easy to avoid for me
Jasper is too busy looking for anything to be bothered.
I assumed he was wanting a toy that slid under the oven, up until I read the description.
Awwww...I truly wish I could have a pet skunk, I love them so much!!
But be careful when it comes to their stinky defense
Wow Mistah Jasper is wearing his grumpy trousers today
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww I love him even when grumpy!!!!😸💕🥹🦨
Its so cute how he is like arguing
every skunk should be names Jasper is the best name for skunk possible. I've been watching Jasper grow up a little bit. mom's doing a good job. he is a very opinionated skunk
I have a wild skunk I rescued after her mother was ran over .
Her name is Stinker
@superdanish Yes, he uses the litter box. and no, no grooming needed. I give him a bath once in a while..but it's not really needed b/c they keep themselves very clean and groom themselves frequently like cats do
Do his nails take any upkeep? I notice they're pretty long and I can hear them against the flooring.
did you find out what it was he wanted? looks like there was something under the stove. and has he ever bit you?
@loopyloz121 They do shed a couple times a year. It's not so bad. When Jasper is shedding, I just try to pull/brush out as much as possible, or give him a bath, and that helps a lot. My friend is allergic to cats and dogs but not to Jasper. I, on the other hand, am not allergic to cats or dogs and am allergic to Jasper, go figure.
@mephitidae I love the names of your skunks! I've watched many of your videos as well. You've got some really cute kids!
@Zomb131
Ohh, I see. And where did you get him? Does he smell at all?
Possibly, sometimes crumbs or almond slivers fly under there. Food always seems to set him off to a bad mood.
I believe they are able to climb am I right? I want to own one, but I'm afraid that he will escape and get in danger. Also, since they are very curious, are wires and house objects a threat? Thanks!
i just had that, Cha would not let me put his harness back on. i dont want to see him like that again it was a long struggle to get it on.
has he ever sprayed and it smelled
Where does this skunk potty? All over the house or in a litter box?
litterbox trained
@sophinana Hehe, yeah they always seem to know if its even a minute past the usual feeding time. Jasper continues to try to get up extra early every morning in hopes that he will get breakfast early. Unfortunately for him, I'm not easily trained xD
Omg! Little grump! My stunk only makes those noises when my dogs get rough w him. I wonder if he smelled a predator...a snake...or even a cricket can make them go nutty.
Is Jasper a male or female?
I think this ones my favorite. It's too cute
@WoWGirl6 Probably a crumb..he's constantly picking stuff off the floor. And yes, as a skunk owner it is inevitable that you will be bet many many times. You suck it up and deal with it. Most often it doesn't hurt. It also depends on the skunk. Some are really big sweethearts and will never bite, and others have bad tempers. Jasper goes through a temper tantrum about once a month. And I just let him cool off and have the day to himself until he relaxes. Its like a skunkie PMS
What a grump! XD
@k1n63d lol, its his Skunky PMS... it happens once or twice a month, he just gets super grumpy all day. I just let him be and he is usually back to his cuddly self the next day. They are a lot of work in the beginning. Rewarding, yes, but you have to be 100% into it.
I think he might've been hungry. He was sticking his nose under what looked like your fridge and generally smelling around.
Is he sniffin around for food scraps or sum?
Yeah what's the dig man
smells something festering under the oven....
This may be a dumb question, but how do you keep him from.. spraying?
I had four ferrets and none of them were vicious. They are actually very fun to have and very entertaining...
where di you get him? would you reccommend a skunk as a pet?
Yes, they can get quite long. They should naturally be long-ish in order to allow them to properly grasp their food but they do require a trim every now and then. I probably give Jasper's nails a clipping every 4-6 weeks.
Jasper says stop putting the camera in my face mom
he is soo cute! I want one now!!
@sheltiemanva He was going after some crumbs. and fyi, skunks are not predatory animals.
Has Jasper ever bitten you? I'm just curious because I saw someone comparing a skunk to a ferret and in my experience ferrets are vicious little blighters.
If this is grumpy, he's a great pet. My question from his sniffing behavior is are there roaches , termites, or other insects that are a problem?
He's cute even when he is grumpy!
lol, cute, where do you live, i live in canada, i wonder if its legal to have one here
@13randonLee Skunks spray to protect themselves, he had no reason to spray her. She was annoying him, but nothing he couldn't avoid if he wanted to.
He actually grunts at you ....lol. Jasper is cute
he looks like he's hungry, just give guy some snacks or something. also, how would you describe the sounds he makes? he sounds like a squeek toy to me..
hahahaha!! That is the funniest noise I've ever heard! He does sound really grumpy tho
He looks like he's foraging for food. Hey! I need one of them to help clean-up (sweep) my kitchen floor! LoL!
Did he bite or lunge at you?
hehe, yeah if you huff back at Jasper he gets even more fired up and louder.
Do you take him outside?
@sdeck09 oops, i meant *are legal in canada, ... just realized that was probably a little confusing
Sounds like an angry muppet
