    I've tried this and I was not satified with the result because the edges of the watercolor texture were to defined. So after I rasterised it, I feathered it a bit via effects > stylize > feather... Just a few pixels were enough to make it better :)

    I usually don't comment on youtube videos but I just want to say, thank you sooooooo much. I'm going through portfolio week at school and I was manually painting for a project that I had to redo, and with all the stress I couldn't make anything I was pleased with. You have saved me so much time and have made my packaging project look so much cooler!! I love you lol!

    hmmm, wondering if there is a way to do this so that I can then make the painted brush stroke a certain color from my swatches? I thought if my watercolor texture was converted to grayscale, that it might work, but that wasn't enough.

    This tutorial helped me a bit, but I have a problem of when I go to use the brush, it puts a background as part of the stroke. I have everything set to transparent, and I'm using PNG files, so I'm not sure what I did wrong. It basically looks like a white rectangle with the watercolor inside but that's the "stroke" that is made when I use the brush... any tips and help would be so much appreciated!!

I bought the watercolor 3 kit but now don't know what to do! Basically I just want to be able to set them to colors that I want and make circular shapes for buttons on my site

    • @EveryTuesday
      @EveryTuesday  7 років тому

      You would have to recolor the textures in Photoshop first (here's a tutorial: every-tuesday.com/change-watercolor-texture-specific-color/) since it's an image instead of a vector (to keep file sizes reasonable). You could convert the brush to vector if you've got a computer that could handle the extra memory it'll require (here's a tutorial: every-tuesday.com/how-to-vectorize-watercolor-textures/) and then use the color guide in Illustrator to change its colors if you wanted another option (though the photoshop option will be easiest to work with)

    I have been trying to get this to work for days now, but it keeps telling me that the selected artworks contains an element that cannot be used in an artbrush. I'm having the same exact problem. I'm using CS2 and I tried with a PS document and a PNG file, both with a transparent background and after going through the procedure I get that awful message that reads the selected artwork contains an element that cannot be used in an art brush. It only worked when I used Live Trace on the brush stroke which in this tutorial was not used.

      Thanks so much, Teela, for solving the confusion for all of us. I love the advancements that Adobe keeps making but it's so hard for me to get access to the newer versions. I love graphics so much but the limitsto my creativity because of money drives me crazy...same goes with photography which I also use in my graphics work. I'd appreciate anything you can do to help us work around these limits with the older versions.

      @EveryTuesday  7 років тому

      Hey - is your original texture a transparent png file? If you don't have an image with a transparent background to begin with, even with transparency settings checked, you'll still get a white background

      Teela Cunningham hiya thank you for your reply I really appreciate it. I'm so certain the prepared texture I had done in photoshop was without a background but I could be wrong. Thanks again I love your tutorials and your positive enthusiasm x
