      I agree. Big Daddy Kane and Rakim imo are both the GOAT of hip-hop imo.
      "Aint no half Steppin" was something human ears had no concept of how dope words could sound put together. Somehow BDK was able to pull off a light hearted yet incredibly ominous instrumental - something human ears on June 21st 1988 could not get enough of; allowing him to STILL be the only hip-hop artist to sell out the World Famous Apollo Theater - not once - but TWICE to an all female audience. No rapper has even done it once. He also did the Madona "SEX BOOK" photo shoot with Naomi Campbell. Kane THE MAN in the late 80's and 90's when the golden age took off. He was literally rap's Mick Jagger. KANE is the GOAT of Hip-hop imo. "Women want him and men wanted to be him" Big Daddy Kane - King Asiatic Nobodies Equal is the GOAT. Kane was this master lyricist, battle rapper, as well as showman who could DANCE. He was the ENTIRE PACKAGE. Big Daddy Kane was Biggie Smalls, Big L, AND Jay Z's idol/influence; while Rakim was Tupac, Nas, and Eminem's. Nuff said: Kane and Rakim both the GOAT.
      He was doing a show in Russia recently. check this out. The states need to show him this kind of love again. HE IS the GOAT after all. ua-cam.com/video/Piw8TM8ZTnw/v-deo.html

    500K? Ninja is you crazy?!!!
    I say, why don't him and Rakim do an album together and call it "Kane vs Rakim" and the whole album would just be diss records going back and forth between the both of them, set up a website for fans to vote who won. Each fan who bought the album would get 1 vote and they would have to put in a serial code to validate their vote, and we would know who the winner is from that. Kane and Rakim could make a killing from the tours, endorsements and records sales from that, and rekindle a new audience.

    • @Lagstab
      @Lagstab 10 років тому +5

      uhh no. thats respectable considering both of their statures. plus a real hip hop fan would have no problem setting that up and throwing down the investment. all of hip hops enthusiasts would enjoy that battle. and i mean real enthusiasts. not people who stick to this generation and this generation only.

    • @alwaysskilledarchives

    • @ibramblebush
      @ibramblebush 10 років тому +23

      Beats By A.S Check this out. They make it a double album, call it still "Kane vs Rakim"
      Disc 1 would be called "War" and that would be the disc with all the diss records would be on.
      Disc 2 would be called "Peace" that would be the one where Kane and Rakim would collabo on tracks together and bring in other rappers like Jay, Nas, Yeezy, Ghostface, Rae, and Kendrick, only the top tier MC's no South ninjas unless they bring fire like Outkast, or Bun B, or somebody like that.
      The tour behind that would be crazy.
      The funny thing is, even if they did do it, we still probably wouldn't have the answer as to who was better. But the beef would be off the chain and the cool thing about it, it would be a friendly beef and they would make tons of money behind it and it might even turn hip hop around.

    I don't even think people are listening to Big Daddy Kane in this. He isn't jumping out the box saying "I'm gonna battle Rakim for $500,000 right now real shit!" BDK is just saying if it happened to come up, then sure. He obviously saying it from a standpoint out of pure entertainment and for fans, but he's older and he's got grown man things going for him.

      Rakim was scared back then so why force it now. Kane is a real man. He not looking to force it. He just knows - if he gonna do it after all these years its gonna cost somebody bc i know i'm already the man. That said:
      Big Daddy Kane and Rakim imo are both the GOAT of hip-hop imo. They are both top-2 based on seniority as well as substance. They cannot be supplanted by anyone except the other. They are the GOATS.
      "Aint no half Steppin" was something human ears had no concept of how dope words could sound put together. ChilloutSessionZ I would say that they were pretty evenly matched until Kane started doing the whole radio thing. Kane for me is the 3rd best of all time. Behind kool g and Rakim. For my top 5 though it goes 1. Rakim 2. Kool G Rap 3. Kane 4. Krs 4. Big Pun. The whole reason why I think Ra would win is because he came out of the battle seen. Ra has nasty punchlines and was one of the first to change the whole yelling in the mic type of rap in the 80's. Tupac, Nas, Dmx, the Wu, Common, Big l, and many legends all looked up to rakim. An opinion is an opinion so don't go off telling me rap is not for me. I was raised on this shit.

People have no respect or knowledge of Hip-Hop's past. These legends can easily still crush "artists" like Drake,Lil Wayne,Macklemore,ect...People saying to quit cause they're old....What's great about this art/music is you're never too old do record music. It's not like a retired 60yr old NFL player trying to play again. A body ages, words are infinit!! And these dude earned the respects they got and still deserve! Kane vs Rakim in 1989 would have been the illest battle ever. Both of them were in there prime at that time. I would have to go with Kane over Rakim though especially in a face to face battle. Kane had to much wit and showmanship for Rakim. Rakim is a great lyricist but lacks energy in a live show. Rakim has admitted he doesn't like to perform. Kane would have hit Rakim with the punchlines, clever sarcastic wit, and his showmanship was second to none. I love both mc's and they are both dope but my favorite is Big Daddy Kane followed by Kool G. Rap.

    • @MrWARBUCKS24

      @caspercampbell1911 9 років тому +1

      TheEdub1 I love Kane, but I have to disagree with this statement. In my opinion, KRS-One is the most versatile emcee in history. The man could simply do anything, rock the mic with lyrical wit, move the crowd, so many styles they were falling out of his pocket, and when it came to battling.....the man ended careers. BDK is in my top 3 of all time, but when it comes to that top spot, there is no question the T'cha reigns supreme.

    • @TheEdub1
      @TheEdub1 9 років тому +2

      Casper Campbell Its debatable Krs is extremely versatile as is Kane. The difference is Kane even danced while rapping. Which is much harder then standing on stage on rocking the crowd. Both are extremely dope and u can't go wrong with either choice. But my #1 is King Asiatic Nobody's Equal = KANE!

    If people did actual reading and LISTENING to REAL HIP HOP music, you would know that Big Daddy Kane is still making music. He put out a collaboration album last year called Las Supper. - Back to the Future. His bars on the certain tracks that he appears on are FIRE. He's always doing collaborations with other artists, mainstream, underground, etc... and smashes it out the park. As well as putting out a few singles every year, since his last solo album in '98, or appearing on various DJ's albums for a freestyle or song that they want him on and MURDERS IT. He also still tours nation/worldwide, all year round. He's active in social media (Twitter, FB, IG). Makes movies. My dude is a jack of all trades, and has NEVER LOST a STEP in his verbal ass whippings! Check for him, just youtube his name and watch greatness... in his shows, interviews and music in general. I'd love to see this battle, it's been talked about for over two decades... but trust me, it's NEVER going to happen. Great to hear my dude always spit that knowledge, and these young kids, that need to learn respect, in all facets OF LIFE, also need to respect the architects! Much love & respect to the God, Rakim Allah.

      Not in 89. In 88, 87, or 86, Rakim would have blown Kane away with ease. ... Rakim was the undisputed king of the mic at those times. Kane had improved soo much by 89 (only a years time) that it would have been up for grabs. You really can't compare the two because Rakim did not have the metaphors or versatility of Kane. Kanes style was more sophisticated. Rakims style, while not as sophisticated stylistically, was bolder, and his lyricism was unmatched by anybody. I can't compare anybody with Rakim in that era because there was nobody like Rakim. Rakim had a bigger impact on other rapers being forced to step their game up than any other rapper IMO.

    • @KickflipGnasty
      @KickflipGnasty 8 років тому +7

      Kane was flashier, I wouldn't say more sophisticated. Rakim is tasteful and smooth, and he had beautifully poetic lines. To me, that's more what being refined is about. Also, you talk about metaphors..."If I was water I'd flow in The Nile" and "I'm measured with the heat that's made by Sun", are more interesting metaphors than anything Kane has that I can think of, off hand. They're both the two best MCs of the golden age. Honorable mentions to Chuck D, Cool J and Fresh Prince.

    • @funnystuff210
      @funnystuff210 8 років тому +3

      Cody Wilson
      Kane had a more sophisticated style. He would change the way he placed his words and rhymes onto the beat in a matter of bars. Either speed rapping, or rhyming multiple times within a single bar. That was not Rakims thing. Kane was similar to Jay-Z and Rakim was similar to Nas. Chuck D, Cool J, and Fresh Prince were nowhere near Rakims level.

    Kane & Rakim don't wanna battle each other with juvenile lyrics, they're grown dudes, that there is old news & they've grown beyond that. It's best if they do a clever concept album, Kane, Masta Ace & Rakim feat Blackthought singing hooks & The Roots doing the music. They can call it "The Kings Of Rhyme" & they mature enough 2 rap about real subjects & life intertwined with the concept.

    Rap Mania & Sistas of Rap.....I do remember both pay per view events in 89-90. Both of these were the initial start of the commercialization of hip-hop music. This also was around the time when consciousness rappers started to take notice of the truth behind there music. Now, commercialism of this great sound, has corrupt everthing about its origins.

    I don’t need Big Daddy & Rakim to battle, let’s just appreciate them both to the fullest.🎶🎵🎤✌🏾
