    Thank you for the batter recipe Hiro! I tried it today, and it was pretty successful. Where I live they don't sell tempura mix, so I am really grateful for this recipe :)

      Ah that makes sense! It just looks so yummy and crunchy and I am itching to hear that crunch haha. It's like onion rings and fried shrimp to the nth degree! Amazing!

    I thought 'regular flour' is 'all purpose flour' NOT 'self rising'....so is it self rising or ap?

    Chopped garlic with the scallions in the batter. And just flecked of finely chopped red peppers, for more colour and heat. See how that goes.

    Confused: In the Tempura Batter ingredients, I heard Chef Hero say "regular flour" but later when the camera-man was verifying ingredient amounts, he said 16 ounces of SELF RAISING flour. They are NOT the same thing. Which is correct? Am I heating things?

    Nice!!! I made your shrimp and add garlic to it, I cut the shrimp into piece and put in on my salad with ponzu sauce as the greens dressing and a little bit of eel sauce on top with masago and sesame seed. It was delicious!!

    I haven't made tempura in a very long time bit this idea puts a lot of my favorites in one! I love Nori and green onions! My most favorite part of Tempura is the veggies. LOVE to use broccoli, mushrooms and also Snow peas. This is definately on my menu soon!

    Ingredients:
    AP flour
    Corn Starch
    Egg
    Butter
    Cold Water
    Mix
    1 cup water
    2 eggs
    1 cup ap flour
    1/4 cup corn starch
    1 stick 1/2 cup Melted Butter
    *adjust water for thickness preference*
    (Measurements guesstimated)

    I've been making my batter way much thicker with a light ribbon. Although delicious, I've been missing the true method and it's intention. Tried it yesterday and Voila!! Like when I was a little kid.
