Personally going down the chartered Surveyor route in the UK actually! Managed to get into a large institution working with commercial property tax and leasing for now
commercial and land/development now mostly. I'm a licensed Realtor in Texas, coming from residential to commerical is a big stretch but mostly because I get to have a life style I vision. I'm only 20 years but I'm doing my best to learn and grow, by 25 I am going to be my own boss.
I appreciate the calm and mellow delivery of your content! The current generation of content creators are so in-your-face, basically shouting at you in their videos with clickbait panic 😱 faces in the thumbnails. Very refreshing to see your videos that exude a better energy.
I cannot express how helpful your videos are. It is obvious that you have a lot of experience and insight, and put a lot of effort into these videos to deliver value to your audience. Keep up the great work.
I started in multifamily affordable housing and got a really good view of how that worked for 5 years, I passed my real estate class and seeking a small firm where I can earn as I learn the Acquisitions/Asset Management Analyst role would be a perfect fit for me. This video was excellent and helped me narrow down exactly what I want to do as I prepare for my first brokerage interview now I can be more focused and intentional about what I want to do this has given me the clarity I needed in my job search. Thanks for, the great presentation, and information!
Excellent video, Justin! Very helpful. Could you do a video on differences and pros and cons of working in REITS vs PERE, I am not sure what could be better. Thank you.
Thank you, I just graduated college and am trying to find a job in CRE. This gave me great clarity and will try my hardest to be the best that I can. Sincerely from the bottom of my heart, thank you
Awesome video, Justin. Quick question: I want to do my own deals someday. In a previous video, "If I Had To Start Over, Here's What I'd Do." you mentioned that you would've become a CRE Analyst at a big-name brokerage and after a few years jumped ship to a smaller investment/development team in an acquisitions role. Is this still the case? Which path do you think is more realistic and conducive to begin doing my own deals someday? I imagine breaking into a small team in acquisitions right out of undergrad could be difficult given the lack of experience
I would love to own my own real estate investment and development firm one day, so I think Acquisitions/Asset Management Analyst would be the best position where I can learn the most. However, I don't know what specific niche I would like to work in just yet, so I'm thinking of becoming a brokerage investment analyst so I can get familiar with the market, get a broad view of different projects and properties, etc. and then switch to a Acquisition/Asset Management company later. Would you say it's fairly easy to switch from Brokerage Analyst of Acquistions/Asset Analyst after I've had a few years of experience? I'm not too concerned about the pay
Thank you for the video!!! So helpful for me at the moment. I’m interning at a small acq shop and am considering going into an analyst role in commercial brokerage.
Hi Justin, if someone is a commercial real estate agent, can they also work for a bigger company such as CBRE and JLL? Would this be considered the brokerage side of CRE?
I always hear analyst roles are the starting point, but I can never seem to even land one. And I have my Masters in Real Estate from a good school. And never hear back to any of the analyst roles I have applied to at brokerages, Investment firms, etc. I can get a job as a broker at some of the lower end firms. But Cannot for the life of me get an analyst role for some reason, and have no idea why.
Hey Justin, If I start my career in asset management or acquisitions is it easy to move from one job to the other? Also for analysts working on the debt side of the business how easy/difficult is it for them to break into PERE? Thank you!
@Break Into CRE--Great video, Sir! Probably your best, Justin! Quick question; I'm 34 going on 35 and am interested in transitioning from sales (life insurance) to CRE sales. In my almost 9 years a life insurance salesperson, I was a top-ranked producer and crushed my sales goals each month. Do you feel it would be easy for me to get an entry-level, 1099 sales job in CRE without relevant experience? I'm in Houston Metro Area and a LOT of smaller firms are hiring. I'm just nervous about pulling the trigger. Any insight you could provide would be appreciated.
I'm most interested in Asset Management. I want to put together a syndication. Currently I'm doing some research to figure out what my start up costs might be if I put one together. What will me out of pocket costs be before Ican form one or does the syndication (partnership) pay for the inspection, appraisal other start up fees?
Which career path are you most interested in (and why)?

Justin! I'm interested in Digital Marketing and I'm passionate about getting my clients results 😃 So what I would choose is being a CRE Sales Agent!

Commercial real estate analyst do you need to hang your license with a company as you would with a traditional real estate brokerage ?

Id like to see Justin answer this question. I'm in a similar position
Hi great content as usual, I have a questions it is possible to break into commercial real estate debt brokerage without a college degree?

You never mention Newmark on the list!
You should talk about your own portfolio
Damn I love this channel
Do CBRE and JLL actually pay analysts that well?
Above average
Brokerage analyst path 😊
Thank you for this. I almost accepted a real estate accountant position lol
Well, not to correct you, it's not working for free, you're working for experience
