I had three strokes and was a brick for a few weeks, got into rehab and now I'm on the road back in a wheelchair doing lot's of things myself, able to stand in my walker
dress myself, take showers, take car of my laundry and make my bed and so on. I can't walk yet but I have a good attitude and back in rehab so we'll see what happens in the future, I'll be 83 in a few weeks.

I just came across your post…what a beautiful soul you are. You realize where your blessings come from, regardless of your injury. Your time with God is important to start your day with, every day. What an inspiration you are to your girls and family. You focus on what you DO have physically, not the other way around. God bless you.

It's very important to keep our physical bodies as healthy as possible as they are the tabernacle of God, the Creator that gave us life. That's the awesome thing about this life, realizing that we're eternal beings and it doesn't end at physical death. I'm studying God's word right now and am blown away at what I didn't previously know. What an awesome Revelation it is! His kingdom lives within us, just as Christ declared in the Gospels. He's not seated on a throne far away, He lives within you Cherie! When you pray in your inner voice you're speaking directly to Him. Take care Cherie, hope things go well with your singing, I'm sure that you sing like a bird! ❤️

I like how happy you still are. I fell on my back as a kid (10 years old) and didn’t say anything. It turned out I had broken it.
Five years ago I had a laminectomy, microdiscectomy, and a fusion at L4-S1. I still deal with a lot of burning pain in my legs and it hurts to walk many times. I have good days and bad days with that. I also have bowel/bladder problems. I go a lot and it’s hard to hold it. One moment I’m fine, then the next I’m rushing to the bathroom. Then, every time I go to the bathroom, I get a lot of numbness and tingling in my legs. I can barely tell I’m touching the floor when I stand up. This happens most frequently on the toilet. I’ve also had swelling legs. I’ve been told I have fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, arthritis, and small vessel disease. In the morning, I feel like I can’t move. That was also how I felt before my surgery. I had spondylolisthesis, so surgery was my ONLY option.
I’m only 44. I can still walk, but it is very hard at times. I’ve been to the doctor, but my insurance is terrible, so I’m not sure what exactly is going on. I was tested for nerve damage, however, they said I don’t have any. I find that hard to believe. There are times I think I actually am partially paralyzed. I have always had a tummy pooch since my fall. I believe my muscles and organs in my lower body do not function properly. It makes me wonder if I am partially paralyzed with the possibility of becoming completely paralyzed. I don’t know if that will happen, or if this is the worst I’ll get. My insurance is too terrible to find out. It’s also different insurance since my surgery. All I know is that if I do become wheelchair bound, I hope I will be as happy as you are. I think I’d have less pain too. Sometimes, I wish it would just happen so I wouldn’t be in so much pain. I take nothing for pain either.
I still get up everyday and go to work. I used to work in a factory, but now, I have an office job. It hurts everyday to get up. I’m always tired and feel miserable no matter how much I sleep. I wake up feeling like I haven’t slept at all.
Unfortunately, the only thing on my record is my surgery, which I do not believe is enough to get disability. I just go to work everyday no matter how much I hurt. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn’t. It affects my memory and concentration as well. It’s definitely tough!
I just hope I can be as happy as you are regardless of what happens to me. Mentally, I’m preparing for it. In fact, I almost expect it, which is sad. I think mentally preparing myself for it happening is better though. I’m sure it’s not easy. I like your happiness and positivity though.

@@lindamahrer1760 I went back to my neurosurgeon. From what they said, they can’t find anything. My insurance sucks though and I can’t afford to use it because out of pocket expenses is enormous. I’m trying to find a better job with better insurance so I can HOPEFULLY afford to do something. Right now I’m stuck though. It’s all insurance reasons! I basically have to start over doing physical therapy and everything before they can even determine anything, which is bs since I’ve already had back surgery. They did an MRI and didn’t find anything either, but I think they focused where my back surgery was and didn’t check anywhere else. Otherwise, my insurance won’t do anything. I’m treated as though the surgery never happened. It’s ridiculous.

@@babblesp1367 there are always a lot of "ifs" ....one key is keeping inflammation down...heat pad and ice packs. Unfortunately, aleve, advil, motrin, aspirin etc over a period of time cause serious stomach issues. Degenerative disc issues bring forth a lot..its one thing after another. When the muscles are weak from not being used ( core muscle problems) this affects everything ...walking, standing etc. Utube has a lot of videos by surgeons. Google ask what to expect after a laminectomy...L1 - S1...the type of surgery begin reading everything on ruptured disc's..collapsed disc's you will learn a lot. Physical therapy even though it seems like nothing it actually helps a lot. It is v gradual. Very important not to be on heavy side. Weight & sitting puts a lot of stress on the back. Sitting, also causes problems with vascular system..legs..sm vein & lg.exercise walking is a must to maintain mobility. Pressure from swelling and disc's on nerves muscle spasms. It is essential an abundance of vegetables ..protein..to maintain muscle strength and immune system. Protect those muscles. The core muscles of the back..the heart muscle..the brain muscle and every area of the body...it takes time . You will notice get results. BUT, YOU MUST DO THE WORK TO HAVE SUCCESS. In my early years working in Rehabilitation hospitals dealt with Spinal Cord injuries, strokes, and head injuries was a rewarding experiences. The right hand is now starting to lose feeling just like the left started 5 months ago. I'm being told that my only choice with this is surgery, and I've resigned myself to surgery.

It's very supportive if there are muscle pains and it keeps the bed equally warm. Much better and less costly than heaters because of less energy consumption. God bless you 🙏

I have to say good for you on your daily routine. You have such a beautiful spirit that i can see it. WOW!! You don’t always see people doing what your do everyday. I” so proud of you. Keep going. So many give up for what ever reason which they should not do. I know that God is with you and He helps you on your everyday life. You might not be able to move like most of us that take life for granted but man you really push yourself to keep fighting to be alive.I have to say that you are an inspiration to those that have a hard time. You are jst as normal as I if not more. May God bless you always. May God bless your whole family and you. Thank you for showing me that when life ruffs you up stand in front of it and confront the issue instead of running away from it. Taking back your life when you feel life giving up, take back your life and live the best possible life tht Jesus died to give you. I see a warrior fighter in you and i can tell tht you won’t give up. Fight the good fight of faith. Life is worth fighting for and God will take care of the rest. What a very motivational woman and God fearing woman. You are beautiful inside and out. You have a wonderful and bless day!

I am newly in a wheelchair due to side effects from stage 4 breast cancer- mostly from Faslodex(Fulvestrant)- severe back pain, unable to stand longer than 5 minutes, unable to walk more than 100 ft and shortness of breath from lung injury from radiation therapy (more than 80). I must use an electric wc. You really give me courage.
