One of the best non metal bands to come out of the 80s loved them since I was a kid. Electric and Sonic Temple are perfect albums. I even love their early post punk goth stuff when they were called Southern Death Cult.

Maybe it's because I was expecting something like sheer unbridled rage that demigod was but I just didn't like it as much it just felt a bit pale, sure it was more technical but I don't know. I feel like I would've enjoyed it much better if it wasn't created by Behemoth
Ashutosh Tripathi The Satanist obviously is not as brutal as past albums. and most Behemoth fans love them for their brutality. but the satanist has so much raw emotion, and energy. it's hard to explain. but the album helped me to get through my break up with my ex fiance of several years. it's just a powerful, epic album. and you just feel it. I love all Behemoth albums honestly.

Mark Lanegan is brilliant. His music is so soulful. Sometimes the soulfulness is dark. But so is life. Nergal has excellent taste.
Accidentaly found this today looking for some Behemoth live concerts and damn, the very first record Nergal's choose was from Mark. I'm watching this six days after he passed away. I am a huge fan from Lanegan's work and from Behemoth as well. This make my entire year so far. Amazing. Rest In Power Mark Lanegan

I also enjoy the Baby Metal vocals. It's a nice change of pace from growls and what have you.

Dude I am so psyched that Nergal likes Mark Lanegan. The Cult too! I've always been into Behemoth, but this just made me respect this guy a lot more.
So I'm got here from Necrobutcher's "What's In My Bag." He was talking about Electric by The Cult and reminded me I've been meaning to pick up a copy of Good and Evil for year. So I finished watching Necrobutcher while I ordered Good and Evil, and then hit the link for this video. Trippy! Any fan of heavy music should at least hear that record. It's way heavier than the albums that came before it and there's not a wasted note on the whole bloody album.
It’s always interesting for me to see black/death metal musicians’ not-so-metal choices (and not so surprising that many of them have childhood nostalgia for The Cult).
Mark Lanegan is such an American treasure. Good pick, friend.

WOW, didn't expect that from nergal,. its great to hear that he isn't just into the harder genre's of music and has such a vast and great taste for all genre's it seems. Really surprising for me as I'm a huge a behemoth fan and just didn't see that coming. Its good to know though that he does other stuff than just black metal and listens to other stuff. its never good to be narrow minded in this life.
Now I understand why Behemoth sounds so nice for my ears. Mark Lanegan has been my favorite non-metal artist for many years. I fell in love with his version of "Carry Home", and since then I'm obsessed. Also, "Beond Good And Evil" blew me away when it was released. Just amazing to see Nergal picking these records.

I would love to see Babymetal live to be honest. I've seen Behemoth 3 times now and they fucking killed it (in a good way) each time. Fantastic performance and choreography. So far they're the only band that gave me goosebumps live on a concert.
Considering that 80 % of people have bad taste of music it is simple fo b-bymetal to fill up 50 000 stadium every night !!!. I tried to listen to that but their music lack of soul!!! yhh good tech guitarist but overall shit :/

I love both Behemoth and Babymetal. I don't know why Metalheads (including Nergal, unfortunately...) insist on hating things that are not "pure enough" in its genre. You already know Japan is the kind of country that likes to fuck with the etiquettes and categories when it comes to, well pretty much everything. It's in the Japanese culture to try those things. Babymetal is one of them. It's actually a very fine band. At first I hated them because they used tracks for everything live, which is a veto for me, but now they actually have a band, it's much more pleasant. You should realy try them again with a fresh mind.

I have record shopped with Nergal. Sweet guy who is very curious to listen to new things.
There was one occasion years ago where he was curious to hear what Canadian bands were coming out and there was this lesser know rock group called Nickelback whose album he grabbed. I never did find out if he enjoyed it.

I am a different metalhead. I like freedom in all shape and form. When I don't like something I ignore it. I'm not going to make an issue out of it! These girls do make different music and they are passionate about it. They opened for the Chili Peppers, Metallica and Guns and Roses. They don't play by the rules of mainstream metal, so what? You don't have to like it, do you?
But a lot of people do, and a lot of bands do. Leave them be. Like Rob Zombie said:"Hey, they are nice kids out on the road touring. What are you doing besides being a grumpy old fuck?"

Did you know that Babymetal's producer is a real fan of Demigod, and the one you showed us includes a Behemoth-styled song? (Sis. Anger) It's absolutely crazy and I was initally shocked, but has come to terms as "Well, I've been listening to men shrieking like their asses are on fire since Venom, I'm sure I'll get used to it".
