    AMEN, brother! Totally agree and love your ideas! We definitely need a mini series of the 8th Doctor. I love the idea of Geoffrey Beevers comics back for the Master. Be nice to have all the remaining Masters in a story.

    I had the same reaction to the spin-off that you did. I might have more enthusiasm for it... if I wasn't so down on the state of the parent series.
    I don't know if I have 3 spin-offs that I'd like to see happen... but right at the top of that list is an 8th Doctor series. By a country mile too.
    Maybe a Valeyard mini-series?

      The main shows target audience thinks they need "night night" uttered to them and that's even below Orphan 55's oddball handling for that one scene. Now, the show always kept children in mind as part of the target audience, but it didn't patronise them or anyone else in the audience, so please tell me if my perception of that is incorrect. Well, the third Doctor could be to Jo, but never was to the audience and nor was any other character.

    A Unit Spin Off done back in the Day with Og Brig and Benton would've been Awesome! All My Ideas go to Classic WHO of course. Making an Anthology to answer questions would be fun. I would do one where it is revealed that Mondas having to return to Earth to Recharge was because the Daleks attacked Mondas wanting to get the secret of how the Cybermen were able to pilot the planet thru space. And I DO NOT WANT RTD ANYWHERE NEAR ANY OF THIS! Cause I have NO FAITH IN RTD RIGHT NOW! (not that I ever really did but...I digress)

    Great suggestions!
    I’d add spin-offs featuring previous Doctor-surrogates eg Professor Alec Palmer (with Emma Grayling) - let Neil Cross run wild with *minimal* connection to the current production team.

    My three spin-off choices:
    1. 'Kenny'
    Ever thought you'd like to see more of that bespectacled kid from School Reunion who's not allowed to eat the chips? Of course you have. We _all_ have. Now just imagine him having his own adventures, skulking around the place for no discernible reason with minimal screentime until the plot needs him to do something. Sounds good, eh? And so what if the character's a complete charisma vacuum: that didn't stop the Whittaker era companions becoming amongst the most loved in the show's history, now, did it?
    2. 'Tales from Leadworth'
    Just what was Jeff looking at on his laptop in The Eleventh Hour? Why did Mr. Henderson need his car back? And just what kind of ducks were in that duckpond? All these questions and more will be answered in Tales from Leadworth: a look at the lives of ordinary people in the Whoniverse. Boring? Possibly - but it'll give Steven Moffat a chance to dust off some old jokes from his sitcom Coupling that he forgot to include during his tenure as showrunner.
    3. 'Who's Got a Friend in Me'
    A spin-off featuring the companion support group seen at the end of The Power of the Doctor. Each week, a former companion can regale the others with stories of their adventures with the Doctor. A bit like Tales of the TARDIS, but cheaper, featuring no clips from the serials themselves and with added coffee/smoking/toilet breaks. You know, to make it seem more 'real'. There will, however, be lots of loud, predatory music letting the scum watching at home know when to cry or feel happy. Plus, each episode can act as a glorified commercial for titles in the DVD range... Well, the BBC's got to make its money back somehow, hasn't it?

    Big Finish have done a range of with the 8th Doctor during the time war. They did a range with the War Doctor and they also have done a range with a younger version of the war doctor. I have heard the 8th Doctor time war series and remember it being but I haven't heard any war doctor stuff though. But yes I would like to see a series of it on screen.
    The War Between the Land and the Sea might be good but like you say no asked for it. I don't think it is a show that would work on its own. It would be heavily linked to Doctor Who. Not like Torchwood or The Sarah Jane Adventures where you can watch them without having watched Doctor Who.
    I would prefer if they made more episodes of Doctor Who and made them better episodes before they made a spinoff.
    My idea is a What if type show where Doctor Who stories happen but the Doctor didn't show up.
    Your idea of doing an anthology series with Doctor Who villains without the Doctor is pretty cool and we got a taste of that concept in the first Doctor era with Mission to the Unknown. But yes I would like that concept expanded upon.

    The only spinoffs I'd want is the hit song from 1985 "you spin me round", and...
    ... a Jo Martin series as produced by JMS or Ronald D Moore or someone who really knows adventure sci-fi. Jo has a whole universe to explore. No Daleks. Has The Division if needed. They can retcon TCC and still keep her incarnation in the same spot or 6b or a future incarnation with ease and deftly so. My only issue is the new origin of the Doctor and that other universe orgiin is not fully or directly related.

    • @ShamrockParticle
      @ShamrockParticle Місяць тому

      Heck, no more big epic "THE UNIVERSE WILL BE DESTROYED" cookie cutter trite routine as well. Her era doesn't need to end with a regeneration either. Let's the audience know there are other adventures or other Doctors between her and Hartnell or Whomever... just make it engaging and real sci-fi again. She has a whole universe in a way few incarnations could have right now!

    Literally everyone, since the 50th have been wanting an eighth doctor spin-off series. Make it happen BBC. It's probably more likely that we would get a 14th doc spin-off over an 8th doc spin-off😂

    I agree he needs to get the main show firing on all cylinders first.
    This spin off is a very strange choice and I’d of rather seen four more episodes on season 1 of Doctor Who.
    Yeah if a spin off is coming then make it the 8th Doctor and more McGann

  • @joshuajoshua2732
    @joshuajoshua2732 Місяць тому

    As much as i would love to see Paul McGann return as the 8th Doctor on screen i think it's too little too late it should had happened way back in 2005 plus i wouldn't give Disney or RTD the satisfaction to run it after all the crap we had with "Space Babies" singing goblins and that god awful embarrassing finale with Ruby's mother just being a regular person with all that built up.
    I'm happy with just the TV Movie and Big Finish McGann has had his time anyway i think having an 8th Doctor spin-off would take away the focus of the current Doctor.
    I don't even like spin-offs i think they make too many of them i'd rather just stick with the main show.

    I have absolutely no confidence in the BBC to make good Doctor Who again. The mere thought of classic characters being handled by modern creative teams gives me nightmares.

      Spoilsport! Surely you wouldn't say no to a character like Professor Travers or Lytton coming back? You know, written by someone who's never even _seen_ The Web of Fear or Attack of the Cybermen? It would be a completely fresh perspective! I for one would love to see Travers being patronised by the new, 'improved' Mel Bush - and perhaps we could explore why Lytton seemed to prefer having male henchmen...
