Good evening Cyd :) many thanks for another wonderful video! I was wondering if this module could be used to retrofit LEDs as the main running light (Low Beam, I guess it is called)? Do you mean an OG9-3? I wired the DRL side to an ignition controlled source, so they come on .... well ... with the ignition❗ Did I not explain that very well?
Hi cyd, another great video mine have arrived today. Cant wait to get them fitted! Do yiu know of any led headlights that work well on a saab 93, ie without errors or flickering?
@@patrickhedges3356 I have seen similar on Amazon, but they were more than double the price. So, if you want to put your hard-earned into someone else's pocket for drop-shipping them to you, well, carry on. Also, that link is where I bought them, so I know they work in a 9-3.
So do the drl's dim down when the side lights come on? Concerned they might be too bright for night time use, and therefore possibly not legal for U.K use.
They are not as bright as some OE solutions you see. No legal requirement for them to dim at night. In fact I wouldn't want to, the whole point is to be seen, which projectors are less good at than reflector lights.
I've driven with them for a few night time runs now and I'm quite happy with them. They aren't as 'bright' as the new EVOX-R projectors I've fitted, but are bright enough to be noticeable without dazzling. the light is spread over a large visible area exactly like the indicators are (remember they are using the indicator reflector), so there is no 'bright spot' like there is with main beams.
@@kermitthefro Oh yes, easy peasy. You just need a single pole (4 pin) relay. Send the DRL signal through the switch contacts and power the coil from the low bean signal to the headlights. Wire the DRLs to the NC contacts and they'll switch off when you switch lights on. A few people have asked about dimming them or turning them off with headlights on, so I think I'll do a supplementary video on that, but it'll be in the new year now.
@@CycloneCyd Yeah I had the same question. I fitted the drls on my saab yesterday and they work perfectly, thanks for that. @@bigl9039 Link in the description. What do you think to the way the modded lights have turned out?
@@CycloneCyd they come out great 👍
It seems you ran the cable to the selector lever fuse, do you have a suggestion which fuse to use on a manual car?
My car is manual.
Fitted mine today very impressed. Used F10 on my Vectra.
@@aus217 Awesome. Any chance you could send a photo? email in 'about'
Could you be kind enough to give me a link where to purchase it from? Also does this work for low beam and rear lights?
The product link is in the description. bit.ly/Switchback_DRL_t1 No, indicators only.
The ones in the video aren’t able to be shipped to the US. Do you know which other ones would work? There are many on Ali express but I’m having a hard time choosing the right ones.
Thanks for letting me know that. Try this seller instead s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DD0NDEj
Same product different seller. If they ship okay, please let me know and I'll change the link in the description
Hi Cyd, Mines an older 9-3 (03) - Would I have to get DLR enabled or does the box do this for me? Or do I need to just turn on the headlights one click? Many thanks.
Do you mean an OG9-3? I wired the DRL side to an ignition controlled source, so they come on .... well ... with the ignition❗ Did I not explain that very well?
@@CycloneCyd Ah I see! I was overthinking it haha Cheers mate
Hi i have a vectra c and like to do this to my csr do you have a link so i can buy some please
Product links are in description, but here you go: bit.ly/Switchback_DRL_t1
Do let us know how you get on
Give these a search for me, the link did not work. Id like to grab these for my 03 93 M/T Linear!
The link works fine for me bit.ly/Switchback_DRL_t1. Check you haven't got a blocker turned on.
Hi cyd, another great video mine have arrived today. Cant wait to get them fitted! Do yiu know of any led headlights that work well on a saab 93, ie without errors or flickering?
Not that I know of, no. Also most LED bulbs will ruin the beam pattern. I presume you have halogen headlights?
Can we have a link for these bulbs please!
Links to products are in the description, but here you go: bit.ly/Switchback_DRL_t1 👍
@@CycloneCyd is this the only place you can get these are thay not available on ebay
@@CycloneCyd is there any way to wire them so DLR would turn off when the low beams are on?
@@kermitthefro Oh yes, easy peasy. You just need a single pole (4 pin) relay. Send the DRL signal through the switch contacts and power the coil from the low bean signal to the headlights. Wire the DRLs to the NC contacts and they'll switch off when you switch lights on.
A few people have asked about dimming them or turning them off with headlights on, so I think I'll do a supplementary video on that, but it'll be in the new year now.
@@CycloneCyd Yeah I had the same question. I fitted the drls on my saab yesterday and they work perfectly, thanks for that. But here in the Netherlands we cannot have drl running with low beams or they should dim when they come on. I have 0 skills with the relais part and how to wire em up, so im hoping u could make a video on how to wire them up properly 🤞👍.
