    I actually really appreciate how nice and open minded this guy seems. Like, sure he's an ignorant "tough guy", but he came in there to see for himself. And his curiosity led him to an experience that enlightened him-- leading to him saying stuff like "this is incredible!". I appreciate, that he came to appreciate, Jiu Jitsu.

    • @jessehines4044
      @jessehines4044 4 роки тому

      If you believe this was a real sparring match then you are as gullible as everyone in the early 90s that thought the UFC was legitimate. You didn't see any world class catch wrestlers invited did you? Only washed up bums from retirement that Royce Gracie knew he could beat. ANY high ranking NCAA wrestler would have annihilated Royce back then....easily. Jiu-jitsu has lost and consistently lost against catch wrestling for over a century now over and over again. A recent example was in 2016 when Josh Barnett beat dean listner with a catch wrestling submission called a scarf hold. Anyone today who still thinks jiu-jitsu is a relevant martial art is too lazy and simple to do their own research.

    • @IriaChannel
      @IriaChannel 4 роки тому +4

      @@jessehines4044 There were definitely people who could've beat Royce back then. I don't disagree. And no, not "ANY high ranking NCAA wrestler" could've beat Royce, because I myself have easily tapped a few and I'm only a purplebelt. This stuff is less about styles and more about people. Barnett greatly outsizes Lister, and Barnett also has a Judo and BJJ blackbelt. There's really not a lot of clean ways to enter into a discussion like this because we're not able to measure any art or fighter in a controlled environment. Everyone's been tainted with cross training and exposure to other styles. And Jiu Jitsu isn't irrelevant, it's literally the grandfather of Judo. When YOU do the research, you'll see that BJJ is really just Judo and Judo is really just Japanese Jiu Jitsu. The only differences between these subdivisions are where they focus their training-- but the lexicon and vocabulary of techniques are incredibly old and almost all shared. I think the gullible one who needs to research things is the one who ascribes a bunch of ideas and talking points to my benign comment. You began making assumptions about my views, knowledge, etc of which none are discernible from my initial comment. But, I don't think you need to research martial arts, if anything stepping out of your bubble would probably do you better-- but if there's anything you probably should look into, it'd be manners.

    Actually found some valuable sparring tips in this. I noticed how he adapted his takedowns to the huge opponent. He realized that upper body clinches weren’t gonna be effective because of size diff (he abandons a body lock in middle of video & switches from double leg to single) and focused on single legs, leg entanglement and riding the big dude’s momentum. I have a tough time with really big white belts because of the anatomical differences, so it was cool to see how he tailored his game a little in this situation. 👍🥋

      @Ike but no Mike sorry but i will have to differ. I don't do bjj nor wrestling, but i do Judo. And there are A LOT of techmiques that were literally made just for a smaller and weaker person to control/throw a stronger one. And almost every bjj technique comes from Judo so i bet that there are also a lot of those kind of techniques in bjj. And! While i haven't done wrestling, i have cross trained with them and i also have friends that are into olimpic wrestling, and i gotta say that they also know how to control and takedown a stronger guy. For a wrestler to not be able to double leg you, you gotta be at least 5-6 times his weight (lmao) or know some takedown defense, and you literally said that you fought a champion and beated him because you were "in a better shape" sorry man, but that wasn't a champion lol. you can say that to anyone that knows about wrestling and they are going to say "that's bullshit". what kind of champion was that guy? Are you sure that he didn't let you win? Are you sure that what you said happened? If you "don't know a move" even someone that only was a high school wrestler can take you down (but maybe not control/submit you when on the ground) now let alone a champion XD

      They are clearly rolling. The story about the big guy wanting to fight anyone for 20 bucks is odd, since he doesnt appear to want to strike at all. Seems he agreed to wrestle and got a first hand experience of what rolling with a pissed of black belt feels like. "I'd be in big trouble if this were a fight. " is him realizing how good of a decision he made when he acepted that it would be a friendly match and have no striking. That is made clear by the dude tapping within a few seconds. You can tell that the bjj guy doesnt want to let him off the hook so easily and continues to manhadle the big guy into another submission. "Bad shoulder, bad shoulder, I've got a bad shoulder" is his next line. At this point big guy knows he cant win, but is still going to be and feel surprised as to how useless he actualy is. If you dont think bjj is for real do the challenge yourself. Just dont be stupid like this guy and challenge ppl there, instead find the best rated bjj school in your area and attend classes until you start rolling.

      Probably. It is plainly the Jiu-Jitsu Times youtube channel and their certainly not going to show a BJJ getting their ass kicked by anyone. Bruce Lee had this all figured out in the 1960's, there is no one style of martial art that dominates in MMA today. It is the blending of the best features of all of them that works in the real world.

      For those of you calling this staged, I recommend looking up who the instructor is. Robson is an IBJJF hall of famer, and mult-time world champ. There's no reason for him to prove anything. I've trained with him, he's a nice, down-to-earth guy - very respectful. I guarantee the opponent walked into the gym, said something disrespectful and wouldn't leave. Otherwise this wouldn't have happened.

    I'm a white belt of 2 months and I'm also very asthmatic. It took a view weeks to adapt my breathing when rolling. Its important to know what kind of positions you can hold when rolling so you can take a few seconds to breathe. It's also very important to know that you don't have to enter a match with the am very of a semi truck or carry that energy all the way through. You are able to relax yourself I specific times when rolling and you gotta learn that speed isn't everything.

      Yes - if the "big guy" was first CONDITIONED and second was a boxer or wrestler or judoka or MMA, and didn't play by the BJJ rule book the outcome would not have been so set in stone. I have seen numerous MMA kickboxers who have destroyed BJJ opponents in short order. Bruce Lee was preaching this in the 1960's, don't become a cult member to a particular style of martial art.
