Garage Opener Repair - Capacitor Replacement (buzzing, but not opening)

Chamberlain Lift-Master garage door opener buzzing, but not opening. The motor capacitor was the cause of the issue. The video shows how to fix the problem.

Thanks Todd, I am hoping this works. Glad you used term motor buzzing but not opening. Interestingly, UA-cam helped me in the search the rest of the way because I only had 'motor' in my search!

Thanks for helping me fix our opener. The new capacitor was bigger so I had to bend the bracket and just attach with the screw.

the light bulb blew out! was that due to capacitor?

Fugg yeah opened mine up seen my capacitor had ruptured and had some white build up coming out of it. 99% sure this so the problem now. Same humming and door wont go up. If i spin the motor crank with myfinger it works. Thanks.

I have an old Craftsman 1/3hp opener that works, but often takes several hits from the remote or manual button to get it to start opening. It always closes fine. Could that be the capacity failing? It's always worse below freezing, too.

As soon as I replaced the old capacitor the new one it popped and smoked but first did work and then pop then smoke, then it was dead. Gatehouse Supplies tried to tell me that it wasn't their capacitor that failed. Beware of Gatehouse Supplies, you will not get a refund for faulty merchandise.

be sure to discharge old cap....if it is good ....icar caps fail all the time, but that is not what you have....had 2 this week ...same problem

So if the motor turns on light turns on and motor tries turning Does that mean the it's something other then capacitor?

Can the Capacitor work but go out after a few weeks then fail again .

Hi! How/where can i find the capasitor model number! Mine is lyftmaster around 11 years old! Capasitor says ac 220 v on it and bunch of different numbers!
