    I am so happy to have found your site. I've been trying to learn Dutch on Duolingo, but I haven't been able to get past separable verbs. I've been stuck in the same place for months. Thank you for your clear explanation. I can't wait to go back and get through the section that has been my nemesis for so long! Looking forward to watching your other videos.

    Thank you for this video! I've been struggling to grasp the concept of separable verbs and you explained it very concisely in a way that I caught on to quickly. The exercises at the end were great.

    Scheidbare werkwoorden kunnen echt lastig zijn. Gelukkig hebben we ze ook in het Afrikaans. Maar ik heb wel een klein vraagje: is er een verschil tussen "meenemen" en "meebrengen"?

    Hello Ilke, I have a question. Why in this sentence: "Hij zegt dat je hem los moet laten" the separable verb (loslaten) goes separated if it's not the main verb. In that sentence there is "zegt" and "moet". I practice also in Duolingo, and followed the rule I learned from you, but this one I got wrong. I really apreciate you could explain to me.
    Thank you for your videos. They are an enormous help!

    • @cleardutchgrammar8904
      @cleardutchgrammar8904  4 роки тому

      Beste Marcos, bedankt voor je reactie! In jouw zin heb je 2 zinnen in 1 zin, namelijk een hoofdzin ('Hij zegt') en een bijzin na DAT ('je hem los moet laten.'). In een bijzin met 2 verba, mag je de prefix los voor verbum 1 zetten, maar de andere optie is ook goed.

    hello it was clear to understand. but in this sentence "We gaan ons voor de cursus inschrijven", I don't understand the use of "ons"

    • @guldenyuceer2749
      @guldenyuceer2749 Рік тому

      It is a reflexive verb : zich inschrijven. Ik schrijf ME voor de cursus in. Je schrijft JE voor de cursus in. Hij schrijft ZICH voor de cursus in.....

    • @howtolearnalanguage6772
      @howtolearnalanguage6772 6 років тому +1

      Beste Chetan, thank you for your comment. Kan and kun are in this case both correct. With this case I mean: using the second person singular and informal (jij/je) with inversion.
      Je kunt de laptop uitzetten.
      Kun je de laptop uitzetten?
      Kunnen is one of the modal verbs in Dutch.

    Why is it " het document" and not " de" document?

    • @pascaldepester6976
      @pascaldepester6976 4 роки тому

      Because the gender of the word 'document' is neutral. All neutral nouns have the article 'het'.

      This is what they started teaching us at university. To be honest it's not that hard.hoewever, the way their are teaching us is hard. Plus they are only using Dutch language throughout the lesson.How do you expect from a non-native dutch speaker to analyze and understanding.
      Flowers to this wonderful channel making learning dutch mutch easier.

      @@bilalsehait7290.. in which case get into a course where there is LESS Dutch immersion.
      Young children can cope with high levels of immersion but many adults can't. Things often have to be explained in one's native/ familiar language.
