I'm 72 yrs old. I saw JIMI in Houston Tx twice...I am blessed.
As you most likely know, Stevie Ray Vaughan was highly influenced by Hendrix. I saw both play. Jimi in L.A. and Stevie in Houston. And Johnny Winter in Austin...... Not to brag! 👅
I too am 72 and seen him twice. We are blessed
Hendrix was an interstellar being who visited earth briefly in human form.
Star Spangled Banner live at Woodstock 1969 🔥🔥🔥
Hendrix in the 60s, yesterday and always ... greetings from Mexico
Let's just say you've only tasted an iota OF AN IOTA of Jimi's unworldly talent. :) To me, he was one of those rare guitarists that could a play notes within notes.
All Along the Watchtower, Purple Haze...
Hendrix is considered the greatest guitarist of all time. He changed the way the guitar was played and how it sounded, he surpassed music, like The Beatles did. When he came on the scene, people couldn't believe what they were seeing and hearing! Even established, famous rock guitarists were knocked out by Hendrix.
A quote attributed to Eric Clapton telling his friend while watching Hendrix perform in a club in England , "You Didn't Tell Me He Was THAT Good ."
Jimi introduced me to rock music and I haven't regretted a day of it. It's nice to see your reaction to Jimi Hendrix.🤘🤘
All along the watchtower the studio version is great!
Jimi Hendrix's career spanned only four years but he is considered one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music. Sadly he died at the age of only 27. He headlined the famous Woodstock Festival in 1969. He had a lot of great songs such as "Purple Haze", "Foxy Lady", "The Wind Cries Mary", "All Along The Watchtower" etc.
All Along The Watchtower was a Bob Dylan song before Jimi covered it.... very well!
What does "popular music" means?😂 Jimi changed the music since 53 years, since he died, 2 days ago, 53 years ago😂😂😂😂😂He changed the whole music.....That's why, 53 years after he passed away, he's, still, a legend, like Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, or Jimmy Page (the only genius who's still alive), etc.....
Why they listen to this song?......Woodoo child live woodstock, Machine gun and Red house live isle of white would be better, this Is just.....pfff ....not even his song for start!!!
@@sandorhartig3957 because, they have a channel on youtube....They find out songs on youtube! Unfortunetely, youtube is deleting everything from Jimi! There are only, few songs you can see on youtube! And, they don't know Hendrix.....Don't attack them please.....They listened to us, the followers who asked them to listen to Jimi, it's great.....I'm sure they will discover, better things from Jimi! I understand what you mean, it's not a great version, compared to what Jimi is able to do, but, it's not their fault.....✌️
@sandorhartig3957 jesus dude don't be that guy, they are just discovering him
The crazy thing is that hes playing a right handed guitar upside down. Unbelievable talent
Almost, the strings are set up in reverse, low on top to high as a standard guitar.🎸 But he could play any which way anyway 👽
Please change that thumbnail! Never ever never show a mirrored picture of Jimi playing his guitar like he was right-handed!
Jimmy's guitar was like an extension of his arm, part of him. Another beautiful musician that left us way too soon!😭🐢
All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix.
Jimi had an Elevated Mind... The greatest Artist/Musician of all time.
"All along the watch tower" And "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" are 2 songs I would recommend. I'm glad you're covering Jimi. He's one of the truly GREATS .....
I second this!
The wife is spot on. It's like the guitar was just and extension of himself. So natural. I got into him in high school in the 80s and like she said he was magnetic. I just watched and listened to anything I could get my hands on.
RAW talent!! I think you'd really enjoy "The Wind Cries Mary" and "Little Wing"
Yes, but he worked hard as hell at it as well.
*Jimi Hendrix is the greatest rock guitarist of all time, always.*
Nice reaction guys, You should do "Machine Gun" from Band of Gypsies album to hear him at his peak , it is mind blowing to hear all of the things he can do on a guitar...and it's LIVE !!!!!!!
this.
Machine Gun is awesome 🎸🔥
Definitely this!
The one and only Postmodern Expressionist in music. He ended Modernity in music. Excellent reaction video. Cheers from New Zealand.
This is from the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967.
What a performance ..wow...every member in this band are Masters on there instruments , WOW....
There's no one better. I saw him twice live, and I KNOW ....
Studio version of All Along the Watchtower is really good.
Definitely try, "All Along the Watchtower", and the live version of him playing, "Wild Thing""
Jimmi is the Best...
Studio tracks to check out: Little Wing, Castles made of sand. Bold As Love, Manic Depression, 1983, rainy day dream away-still rainin still dreaming, straight ahead, freedom. Hey Baby, Pali gap.
Live tracks: machine gun (band of gypsys), voodoo child live at woodstock, star spangled banner live at woodstock, purple haze live at Atlanta, red house live at royal albert hall, Ezy Ryder fillmore east show 1. ❤❤
For more of Jimi live on stage check out "Foxey Lady" live at the Miami Pop Festival 1968 , "Voodoo Child" live at Woodstock 1969 ( better then the Maui version, although the Maui video is restored and looks great the performance is not as stunning as Woodstock ). Also Purple Haze live at Atlanta Pop Festival 70 ✌🏼
foxey lady at miami pop festival is not as good as the Maui version, and voodoo child woodstock is probably copyrighted so i recommend the Maui version too
Plenty of reactions already on UA-cam of Woodstock Voodoo Child. I disagree about Miami Pop foxey lady not being good, you get to see plenty of his charisma. Maui Foxey Lady is cool too but it's hard to make out the lyrics because of the wind and foam wrapped microphone and Jimi even laughingly forgets the lyrics at one point. That said , they are all worthwhile videos because Jimi is phenomenal. ☮️
- Another song you should do by Jimi Hendrix?... ALL OF THEM!!! :D ...
- Hard to choose a "bad" one. And I'm sure many people have made / will make recommendations in the comments.
- So, simply enjoy :)
Watch *Prince* live. Eric Clapton considered him a guitar god and with good reason. No one since Hendrix was the guitar showman he was.
Oh, and he played most of the instruments on most of his records, sang the background and foreground vocals (Grammy winner for vocals), and wrote the songs too (Oscar for Best Score). The single most talented musician of the rock era by a WIDE margin.
He had a lot of swagger! chewing gum while singing ads to that. It's cool and cocky!
"All Along the Watchtower" is a must reaction for you both.
Jimi was HUGE in the 70s all the way to his untimely passing if want to check out more "Foxy Lady" or "All along the watchtower" are 2 of his biggest hits each one has completely different vibes Foxy lady being more of the guitar powerhouse of the 2 watchtower just takes you places!
NO, JIMI WAS THE BEST IN 1968 AND 1969, WITH THE EXPERIENCE 😂, FOR US, THE FANS, THE BAND HE HAD IN 1970, WAS GREAT, JIMI, BILLY, MITCH.....AND THEY PLAYED CRAZY CONCERTS, LIKE BERKELEY, OR MAUII....AND, GREAT BOOTLEGS, IN THE ELECTRIC LADYLAND STUDIO BEFORE THEY WENT IN EUROPE FOR THE LAST TOUR.....BUT, THE EXPERIENCE MADE THE BEST CONCERTS, EVEN IF BILLY COX WAS A BETTER BASSIST AS NOEL, THE EXPERIENCE, IN A GOOD SHAPE, WAS UNMATCHABLE.....😂" LIVE AT THE FILLMORE WEST, SAN FRANCISCO 1968", "LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL 1969", "LIVE AT SAN DIEGO, 1969", "LIVE AT THE LOS ANGELES FORUM, 1969" ( PROBABLY THEIR BEST CONCERT, ABSOLUTELY MONSTRUOUS).....
think of the music that was around at the time and it is even more remarkable.
A couple more good live performances are:
JIMI HENDRIX - VOODOO CHILD LIVE AT WOODSTOCK.
JIMI HENDRIX - FOXY LADY LIVE AT MIAMI POP FESTIVAL.
I would also highly recommend you check out his three studio albums: ARE YOU EXPERIENCED, AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE and ELECTRIC LADYLAND. And also his BAND OF GYOSYS album as well.
There are videos preserved, but this was long before the music video was invented. His best music is only available as audios.
Jimi Hendrix made me LISTEN to music, not just hear it. Most important was "1983...". Maybe not the best, but with most impact on me. Unfortunately shortly after his death. (My school mates saw him live!). Now, 50 years later, I would say "Pali gap" or "Hear my train a comin".
I've seen a few of your reactions. You seem like a warm sweet couple. There's already 100 comments so I won't bore you. Others have excellent suggestions for listening. I loved Hendrix when he was alive. (Unfortunately I'm the one that's still around) The female here (sorry, I don't know her name) brought up something that i've pondered for 50 years. At the time Hendrix was using the guitar and playing rock because those were the avenues where he could be creative. With all his use of feedback and pedals, he was searching for sounds that didn't exist. He was ahead of technology at the time but if he lived longer technology would have caught up to him so he could use sounds and other media to create something extraordinary; beyond the guitar and the rock idiom.
Thanks for the reaction.
He is one of the greatest jimi hendrix try to listen to all along the watchtower or the song somewhere
He was left-handed and played right-handed guitar, cuz there was no others, so he played backwards. I feel if I practice for years I couldn't played normally as he plays with his mouths or behind his head.
A right handed guitar turned upside down but he reversed the strings so he basically played it the normal way. Thick strings at the top. Albert King and Eric Gales did and do play with the strings upside down.
The greatest of them all. Believe me guys, that was just the tip of the iceberg. For more live material, "Johnny B. Goode", "The Star Spangled Banner" (from Woodstock), "Hear My Train-A-Coming" and his masterpiece from his BAND OF GYPSYS album, the incredible "Machine Gun". As for studio recordings, "Purple Haze", "Little Wing" (there's also a brilliant live version), "Foxy Lady", "Stone Free", "Red House", "Manic Depression", "Are You Experienced", "If 6 Was 9", "Castles Made Of Sand", "Bold As Love", "Voodoo Chile", "All Along The Watchtower", "The Burning Of The Midnight Lamp" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)".
Start with those, lol.
His time as a professional was relatively short but that talent needed an awful lot of nurturing and he did put in the work. Like all great artists, he had to find his signature/style and develop it. As he slowly got more attention and his fame grew, that lent to legend of gone before his time.
Chewing gum, like it's no big deal, and here we are....**checks calendar**.....half a century later, still blown away.
PURPLE HAZE, FOXY LADY, ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER WHICH WAS A ( DYLAN ) SONG THAT BOB LOVED JIMI DOING IT!👍😊 KEEP ENJOYING THE GREAT CLASSIC ROCK YOU GUYS!💯
You dont just put the guitar behind your head and play....Hendrix: "hold my beer"
You are correct. Jimi and his guitar were one. Jimi was on another level. He was ten blocks up the road from any other musical artist then and even now. I know, I saw The Experience live more than once, and you can take it from me, they were the BEST. When Jimi died I wept. The greatest loss to music of a generation at age 27. Genius. There were many excellent guitarists back then and even today, but there was only one Jimi Hendrix. In the 50 years since his death I have not seen his like again.
Next song? Definitely Johnny B Goode, Berkeley. Prepare to be amazed. Chuck Berry who wrote the song said that Jimi, 'Played the living crap out of the song.' After that, The Watchtower, a Bob Dylan song covered by Jimi. Bob told Jimi after hearing his cover that the song now belonged to him, and never played the song on acoustic guitar again. Other Jimi songs with The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Purple Haze; Foxy Lady; Fire; Voodoo Child; Cross Town Traffic; The Wind Cries Mary (slow and very deep piece)
Jimmy Hendrix was aloof, like an artist
Jimi was self-taught. He never took guitar lessons or could read sheet music. He played by ear, by the sound, until he mastered the guitar in his own way. It's why he was so different.
Not quite true, he learned from all the R&B bands he played with between 63 and 66. Learning from other musicians is the best way to learn.
The reason he was so different is because he was playing R&B guitar in a rock context.
The wind cries Mary is awesome!
THE SHOCKINGGGGG LOOK😮 OF EVERYONE WHEN JIMI STARTS PLAYING WITH HIS TEETH😊, AMAZINGGGG AND FUNNY OF COURSE! 👍HE WAS A LEFT HANDED GUITAR PLAYER ANDREI AND DOMENICA, IT WAS INSANE FOR SURE, LEGENDARYYY! THE CLASS OF 27 YOU GUYS, ALONG WITH JANIS JOPLIN & JIM MORRISON ☹JUST SO MUCH NATURAL TALENT!
I just love to see the reaction of people who are seeing Jimi perform for the first time. They're always blown away.
The Wind Cries Mary.
Jimi hendrix - Midnight. Will blow you away

You guys are amazing, Gracias :)
THANKS FOR PLAYING "JIMMY HENDRIX". COULD YOU PLEASE PLAY, ALL (ALONG THE WATCHTOWER) BY JIMMY HENDRIX THANK YOU
Legend!!!
This is from the '67 Monterey Pop Festival, his American debut. Check out his last song of the set "Wild Thing" Historic
For Hendrix guitar work: "Are You Experienced", "Little Wing", "3rd Stone From The Sun", "1983 (I Merman I Should Turn To Be)," "Voodoo Child", and the live "RedHouse".
Some Jimi Hendrix songs songs ..
Machine gun live new years eve
Electric ladyland
Voodoo child
Hear my train acoustic version
Jimi Hendrix was an extremely humble individual as you can tell from his interviews, i.e., Dick Cavett.
Emphasize listening to the recorded version of Voodoo Child. And yes, notice he plays left handed with the strings upside down.
Jimi was Left-Handed, but couldn't afford a left hand guitar. So he learned to use a right hand guitar upside down and to the right. Look closely, the guitar strings are inverted---the bass string is on the bottom instead of the top & the high string is at the top instead of the bottom! What a genius!
This performance was at the Monterey Pops Festival. He was upset he had to follow The Who. He said he was going to "pull put all the stops".
There is an older version of this that he really cuts it loose. Black and white video. Badass for certain.
Mr. Jimmy Hendrix.:more from him : " All Along the Watchtower ", " Foxy Lady "... My
Excellent spontaneous review
He was absolutely fabulous!!
That said, it's GREAT that you 'got' him, anyway!
jimi changed my approach to music when he melted my brain at 8 years of age listening to "i don't live today".the sonic barrage at the end of that blew me away, check out "i don't live today"(studio version) and "voodoo chile" (studio version) for prime jimi
check out "Machine Gun" live from Madison Garden
Hendrix is the music from my youth and legends can come to be thought of as cliche. Many great guitarist have covered Hendrix but when one returns to Hendrix, as great as the others are, Hendrix owns it and goes deeper than anybody else. If you want to know what would have happened if he hadn't died check out his Band of Gypsies. That band was a strong indicator where he was heading.
This would be my suggestion. Heavy and might not get the spirit if you were too young to experience America at that time ie Vietnam, civil rights marches etc. In the end he takes it to the avant garde in the tradition and as well as the jazz guys did back then. To me Jimi at his best, The Band of Gypsies. ua-cam.com/video/jxFW5F87xK8/v-deo.html
By the way, apparently Hendrix to record with Miles Davis in autumn...two brutally honest artists to the music.
Did you notice Jimi was playing a right handed guitar upside down =)
"All along the watchtower" is my fav one....❤ but original version is from Bob Dylan... ! (Bruce Springsteen and U2 do awesome covers too!) you need check it out the 4 versions!
The GOAT
Keep it in perspective , this is from 1967 and there was NO ONE who even conceived of playing a Guitar like this . Jimi created the Model for being called a Guitar God .
That guitar in his hands is not a guitar....it's a weapon.
Review Jimi’s “Machine Gun”
He was in 101st Airborne and slept with guitar in Barracks.
You should react to "Izabella" live at Woodstock, it's my favourite performance of his.
He changed music!
Please listen to the studio recording of Voodoo Child. A peak experience.
He DID practice a lot. I mean it was something he exercised to keep agile. But yes - I don't think even that truth matters. He just was. It was just gift. He practiced to find the sounds he wanted because I suppose even the guitar wasn't as good as him. He was maybe just forcing the guitar to take him more seriously! Without doubt for me, the best. Not even so much in technique but in the tones he laid down. The sounds might seem normal now in rock circles but that's after 50 years of them learning from each other. This man was inventing them.
it was jimi's ability to create new sounds live that distinguished him from othe great guitarists .Mark Knopler was is a spectacular lead guitarists but he often repeats the same leads for his songs , while Jimi would go out to the edges of the universe and return with something new
he was the best still sad he gone too soon
Monterey Pop Festival with The Jimi Hendrix Experience American debut .
Andrei is 100% right! Genius - which is inherently different (because only a select few or tenuous) is often cast out and ridiculed.
Plus, then the criticism becomes a matter of POSITION - where the critics double-down on their statements to “prove they were right”.
This went on for years and years but the hard work of this touring band and the fanatically loyal fanbase (pun intended) finally won in the end.
This is why they were finally admitted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Thank God this happened before Neil’s passing… but they were very highly loved and respected in Canada - even the first rock artists to become Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996.
Not sure of your statement, he was a smash in England and back in the States at the Monterey Festival he set the world on fire 🎸 Sorry, I see you speaking of someone else.
GOAT
Notice his guitar upside down😛JH restrung a right handed guitar to play with his left since his first guitar was right handed, he is left🤔😏👍🤟
guitarrista N 1
"Are You Experienced" is the first album, 1967, by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Also the title song. A good start, or start with the first song "Manic Depression" and see if you can't help from playing the album. Enjoy and would love to see your reactions, thanks 🎸
They say he played that with his teeth, but I like to think, for the ladies....he played it with his tongue. 😎😎😂😂🤣🤣
Jimi is the white Blues god, check Red House (Most covered Blues track from Jimi [Satriani, Steve Vai, SRV, EVH, Efoc Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen and so many others), I hear my train coming [my Favorite Blues vibe, so pain transforming ], Vodoo Child [psychedelic Avantgarde], The Wind cries Mary (slow and sweet).. so many, hard to choose..
But the most extraordinary showcase you see live in Woodstock in Purple Haze with the Bridge to villlanova junction, the Improvisation on villlanova is the most beautiful thing ever❤
Castles Made of sand, spanic Castle Magic, Bild as Love, little Wing, all along the watchtower, foxy Lady, rainy day dream away, machine gun, Ezy Rider, Power to Love, bleeding heart... where to stop? 🙉
This is what it looks like when the guitar has become a part of the body.
All Along The Watchtower and Who Knows? are 2 to catch.
At Monterey would be a nice piece The who came on after….the crowd didn’t get into the Who……Hendrix owned the stage
Janis Joplin became famous there as well
GOD GOD GOD OF GUITAR
Of course everyone will have their favorite Guitarists, mine does not include Hendrix, it does include, Terry Kath from Chicago, Joe Bonamassa, Dime Bag Daryl from Pantera and of course....the KING, Eddie Van Halen. Guys if you are wanting a Mind Altering Demonstration of next level Guitar work: Terry Kath with Chicago Live at Tanglewood, "25 or 6 to 4" ...and of course Eddie Van Halen, "Eruption" Live without a net! Now, these are 2 out of this world displays of Guitar Bravado...
the good stuff... awesome times, the stereo was always maxed out 😅 . . was the time of Woodstock and the hippy era
The brightest stars shine for the shortest time. (Metaphorically. In case there's any Astrophysicists out there)
He does a lot of different stuff....some mellow some hard...I like Burning of the Midnight Lamp......Castles Made of Sand.....and his Dylan covers.
Wild Thing Monterey pop version. Ending song to this concert
