I think the predictive back gesture animation is the most underrated feature of Android 14. If it is somehow enabled OS wide then it will certainly take user experience to another level.

Android 12 was a significant release, 13/14 are just small refinements. I hope android 15 will bring some bigger upgrades and changes.
Looks really good. I love when companies find their own direction and really lean more in to it as opposed to always just blind throwing darts at a wall and every time you just barely get used to it, they completely change. Not that they should use the exact same thing for nearly 2 decades either tho... like that one company...😆

Pixel had the different sound options at one point but someone at Google took it away, glad it's back
One feature that is still missing is the battery health status like on iOS
...and double tap to lock the screen.
Some OEM's have released this I believe. Like OnePlus with the OP 11
It doesn't do anything but cause anxiety. There's no useful information from that.

I can't wait for an update on my 7 Pro! But on the other hand I'm kinda sad we didn't get Wear OS 4 on Pixel Watch yet...

Great rundown on all of the awesome features coming with Android 14. My favorite have to be the lockscreen, new share sheet, and Drag and Drop.

THe thing I'm most looking forward to is the independent volume setting for notifications and the ringtone. I came to (more or less) stock Android on a Nothing Phone (2) from Samsung's OneUI, where this has been a feature for as long as I can remember. I miss it because, like you, I want to tone the notifications down but then can't hear the phone ring.

Honestly, most of features are just coming from Samsung, even though I am a all Samsung person, I feel it should be Google who should show others what android can do and not the other way around
I have different opinion.
I think features should come from the brands and android versions should only focus on the internals like battery saving stuff, various APIs for camera, sensors, graphics, AI hardware and whatever
I agree. Lots of these I already have on my Samsung!

Settings/Apps/Apps Battery Usage/Unrestricted (Allow battery usage in background without restriction)

My OnePlus has the 4 pin auto unlock feature on by default and I absolutely love it, Im not even sure that there is a toggle to turn it off.

Drag and drop text in split screen has been around since marshmallow
about time they fixed the ring/notice volume control
i just downloaded the beta and it's really nice. I'm not sure if I missed this feature but there's something called app pinning which allows you to pin an app so no other apps are accessible. Great for lending your phone to someone to check out an app without them being able to look through it. You swipe up to see all apps, click the app icon and you see a few features there. great stuff. Love my pixel

Flashing notifications have been on Galaxy S phones for a few years now way before Android 14.
So? Google takes time to bring features and do not throw everything at the wall to see what sticks.

There is not much difference between 13 and 14 but it is overall a good version with nice tweaks.

Honestly, i was a little wary about upgrading to the p7pro with all the concerns I've heard raised and with the next generation not too far ahead, but honestly, this is the nicest phone I've had the pleasure of using. Looks like a14 will make for an even more thoughtfully designed experience.
The only thing I'm bummed about is the lack of a headphone jack, but that's just a given these days
The buds pro tho work great with the pixel and battery life is good plus there is dongles
My only complaint for the 7 pro is CPU heating issues.
@@VeteranManiac I relate. It gets toasty when running demanding games and charging on a hot day. It's something I can live with. I keep discovering new things to like tho... the haptics and the speakers are underrated

There were rumours that Dual Apps are coming to A14. Pretty disappointed that they aren't.
Flash notification has been around for 3 years in Android and drag and drop vs copy to clipboard and paste are essentially the same but the latter is easier to use under more situations.

Me finding out google allows manufacturers to use two separate sliders for ringtones and notification, but they don't use it 😵💫

I have flashed it and it works great and I like the new features. The only thing I've noticed is that I cannot post photos on Facebook. It does not allow me to access the camera roll. You know of any fix for that?

I have the newest 5.1 beta on my pixel fold and it broke features. So did the 5.0 beta but I thought the 5.1 would fix those issues. It has not

The flash notification is horrible. I hate it when I'm at a concert or dark room and someone's camera is facing me from their back pocket and then I'm suddenly BLINDED BY THE LIGHT. I'm not revved up though but I'll take the other features
I'm happy we are finally having these features but cmon... Google really is the king of catch up when it comes to features on their own platform...
Now if only we could remove the search bar / at a glance widget and or double tap to lock / wake without using 3rd party launchers..
Another micro change. I miss when there's something actually new. I miss when I could root my phone because anyone the freedom to choose if they wantrto or not. I miss when I could delete bloatware I never chose to be there in the first place. Now I have to hide them but theyre still there taking my storage and spying on my data. Its not progression if theres regression.

There are some us whose Pixel devices have no 5G on T-Mobile after latest Beta update.

Been in the pixel lineup 5 years and android 13 is pretty clean overall it really fine tuned alot from 12 so I'm excited for 14 the flash seems cool but I won't use it
My pixel 6 has reboot issue from beta 1. It can't reboot normally, I have to spam the power + volume up key

Get rid of that 6. Go to the 7 at least.
