Your plants are beautiful. The fig tree is the prettiest I have ever seen. I love your personality and sense of humor.
Thank you so much!
I find a little bit of hydrogen peroxide when watering helps with the gnats 😉
Great tip!! What’s the ratio you use?
@@GraceInMySpace 1:4 parts, I usually keep a small watering can with room temperature water and add about 2 caps in it.
Thank you, I am going to try that this week!!! :)
Great video and tons of helpful hints🙂 sometimes I always remind myself of if I become discouraged by losing a houseplant in death is this--- most people would think nothing of spending $10-$20 on a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers that may only last a week but for the same money, I could buy a lovely houseplant and if I can keep it alive for even six months then I have gotten good value for my money 😊 never, ever be afraid to bring a plant into your life-even if it seems to be for a short while LoL
Yes! Such a great point!
Plant food is sunlight not fertilizer, thats more like vitamins for plants.
I have a Swiss cheese plant that came from the flower shop with gnats. I just squirted hydrogen peroxide all over the top of the soil and it got rid of them in just a few days.
Great tip! I’ll have to give it a try.
💚
I use mosquito bits works great. You make a tea. Put 3 tablespoons per gallon of water. Let sit overnight. Water plants. Strain the bits out of the water or use a cheese cloth to contain them. Also Systemic Granules work to keep pest and gnats at bay. The sand I’m on the fence about, because the plant needs oxygen I feel like the sand will hinder that. Not sure 🤔 gnats will eventually make there way through the sand. Your video had great information. Have to be careful with peroxide as well not only will it kill the gnats but also kill off beneficial nutrients the plant needs.
Great feedback! Thank you!
Thanks for alle the very useful tips. You skipped details about signs of over watering. I would love tips on recognizing signs of over watering.
They are very similar to underwatering actually. Generally the leaves can yellow and drop with overwatering.
You are such a bright and helpful soul! Thank you so much for all the advice for us beginners! :)
Happy to help!
Thank you for doing this video. I am a plant person and have been for years. I learned a lot and am looking forward to part 3.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Great tips-excellent video. Subscribed! 👍🏻
Thank you so much!
You’re hilarious 😂 thanks for the two part video!
Glad you enjoyed!
Two questions. Where do you buy your plants? I’m in a cold climate like yours and only find houseplants offered in stores like Home Depot and Walmart. They seem to get little attention and less than ideal light conditions (at my particular stores) and oftentimes look less than healthy unless they are a fairly recent shipment. Also, does it matter what water I use? We have well water that is softened with a salt type conditioner system as it is high in iron and other elements. We buy water for drinking and cooking and I have been watering plants with that; not sure if it has made a difference. I’ve thought about collecting rain water for the purpose of watering houseplants - I notice you watering straight from the tap so maybe it doesn’t matter what I use.
We have well water with a softener and that’s what I use! Many people will tell you not to, but I’ve never had an issue. I usually find mine at grocery stores, local nurseries, and even Walmart and Home Depot too! Just have to be selective to buy healthy ones.
"Your skin will fall off" 😂😂
Well it will 🤷🏻♀️😆
This is great thanks!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great information.

I'm enjoying your plant care series! ❤❤❤My Dracaena was sitting in water unbeknownst to me (ooops) and boom! Gnats in my office. Very annoying! I used Mosquito Bits in all my watering water for all of my plants. Within a few weeks, no more gnats. I also sprayed them with a neem oil solution. I recently used hydrogen peroxide (1 part peroxide to 8 parts water) for my plants that had compacted soil. Idk if that did anything for the gnats, but I read that it's a great boost for plants and can act like a fertilizer because it loosens the roots and allows them to absorb nutrients better. So cheap and easy! Happy planting! 🙂
Such great tips!
Your plants are amazing!
What types of pieces do you gravitate to in order to "pair" nicely with your plants?? Books is all I got. But I can't just have plants and books everywhere. I need tips and ideas on how to mix it up, curate and pair beautiful items keeping everything cohesive through out my house.
Thank you so much! I pop a plant everywhere! Next to a mirror on the mantel, with pottery on shelving, in groups of three plants on the kitchen counter, as a stand alone on a stool or plant pillar. Can’t go wrong in my opinion!

Hello Sarah from Daytona Beach. I’m enjoying your plant series. I couldn’t find link to your pots and containers, so I might be overlooking it. Appreciate any help you can give me to know which link to use. God Bless.
No problem! I have many linked up here: amzn.to/3I95DZ7
Hi! Does neem oil work as a preventative as well?
Some research says it does but I’ve never had any luck with it being very effective.
Thanks! You inspired me to get a Pothos Philodendron Brasil 😊
Once again, Excellent advice Sarah. Watering your plants has so many parameters. Thank you for mentioning some of them.
You’re welcome!
This video is helpful. For the first time in many years I now live in sunny house. Getting back to having houseplants again. 😊
I’m glad it helped!
Thank you…learned some new things and appreciate the tips…one thing I have not really understood is why nurseries and other stores sell plants that don’t grow in the area or zone…this confuses me because I will see something that I like and come to find it doesn’t grow very well if at all in my area, but there they are selling it…😏your video was clear in seemed doable !
Great point! Some people do have grow lights and humidifiers just for plants that are tropical. All just depends on the level of commitment 😊
Thanks for sharing the way you do things! When I get a plant and look it up for care, there are many strong opinions on the "only way" to care for them. I much prefer the experimental methods you use!
Yes! Sometimes what works for one won’t work for another!
Enjoyed.
I’m so glad!
I have several philodendrons and pothos that I propagated. When they get root bound I clip the over growth of the roots back and put them in new soil. This way I don't have to keep sizing up in pots. They are very forgiving plants. I always have some clippings rooting in case I need to add more to the pot. I want to try my hand at some other types of indoor plants. Great video!
That’s a great method! They can grow so quickly.
@@GraceInMySpace they certainly do!
This is so helpful! Thank you! -Joanna 😊
