I have decided to get into plants more this year and would appreciate a video on houseplants. Right now I only have Ivy indoors and I really like the way they cascade and look so green and pretty but want to incorporate other kinds of houseplants, yours look nice. Thanks for all the tips.

I can’t wait until we have a home I can decorate and furnish. We live in 320 square feet behind my 94 year old mother in-law right now so she can keep living in her home. Our place is to little to do much with and furniture can not move anywhere else. Also we don’t want to spend much money on a place that may be torn down when we move out because that is what happens in this neighborhood of older homes. I do try to make everything I have be beautiful to me.

I have way too many house plants 🙈 I also have many sunny windows, has it been your experience that you need to put the plants where they are happy and not where they make you happy , so that means I can’t put them where I want them for decor .
Try ZZ, pothos or snake plants for low light areas! I run into that too. And often find they all like the same window 🙃😆
I recently bought a mirror for my mantle. I, too, have a stone fireplace. The mirror is heavy, and I just want it to lean. I noticed your mirror leaning with stone behind it. Did you anchor it? Is there something you used to keep it from sliding? Appreciate any info you could share. Thanks
I just have mine leaning. But honestly it makes me nervous sometimes. I’d always say to anchor!

Yes! I’m always telling my loved ones that they can find beautiful ways to keep their house functional.
I believe that often times people simply don’t think “how can I make this thing I need to have look good”, because it seems that a lot of people simply don’t know that they have the options.
You were right, though - it’s so easy to find prettier essentials now, and I very rarely find that it is more expensive to pick prettier essentials - often time it’s the same price, cheaper, or only a few dollars of a difference.
Something that I find very important:
I always, always, always think about hidden storage whenever I address just about any portion of the house. Particularly large pieces of furniture. If it’s gonna be taking up space in my house, it needs to have some kind of closed storage.

How deep are the shelves in your dining room that you built to fill in the doorway space? I am considering doing something similar and wondered how much space I needed to be able to actually display things. Loved the tips in this video… as always!!❤😊
They are about 2.5 inches. Super shallow! But had to be to fit my existing opening. It’s just enough space for small items.
I don't do plants inside but I'm the queen of gardening. I wish someone would do a video of decor and storage space use in small cottage homes 1,000 sq ft, in West Mich.

Putting plants in your home brights it up makes it fresh. I have been using plants as decor in my home for years and there fun to watch grow and get there new leaf❤👍

I love your channel because it's more about what you like than what's trending. My issue is trying to find a style or things I like that actually look well together. I just haven't found anything that says bring me home, you know you love me in a long time.

I only change my decor for Christmas here in the desert. Our seasons are crazy. Late December was truly our Fall, for instance. I’ve slowly styled our home with what we love, and then added a half dozen plants in front of windows in several rooms of the house. March through October has such hot temperatures, that I’ve had to bring my green thumb into the house. Daily highs over 100 can only tolerate the hardiest of succulents outdoors. It’s taken 7 years of trial and error to plant flowering succulents that will draw butterflies and hummingbirds to our yard. Some days I envy your four seasons Sarah. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with strangers from afar.

Love this video. We just built our home and I’m trying to personalize it and make it home. As much as I love the plants, that is not feasible for us. We live in Southern Arizona travel frequently. I’m learning to embrace faux plants. It adds color with no maintenance. Thanks again for a great video.

Hi Sara, The cabinet near your fireplace, is it a blue color? If so, what color and paint brand did you use?
It is black but pulls navy in this light. It’s called Black by Studio Color Rustoleum (found at Walmart)
