From the factory they have a heatshield between the starter and the downpipe / turbo to protect it from the heat. It is a fibre material, clipped onto the turbo oil return pipe, which eventually breaks up and falls off. Then if you go on a long drive and stop to fill up with petrol it won't even turn over when you try to start up again. You then end up having to bump start it, but once cooled down it will start ok again. Definitely worth making a new heatshield from the more modern metal based materials now available.
