The time problem (10:04) was was caused by the change tempo (6:02) using audacity. As you can see on 6:02, the sample track is not aligned with the number 8. I suggest that do not change the tempo since it will be off the grid. Also, use tap bpm to identify the tempo (7:11), you can find an online one
1. Often times adjusting the tempo is necessary to get the right tempo for the beat you want to make. The samples original tempo might not be the tempo that someone wants to work with 2. Tapping to find the bpm is a very unnecessary step when you can just change the bpm in lmms and find it in about like 15 seconds. And tap bpm is also not always accurate
@@feezo I do agree that sometimes we need to change the tempo. But as you can hear (10:04), it doesnt transitions smoothly. For me, Id rather use og tempo (in my opinion okay). Also, i think that tap bpm helps you as a beat maker to practice timing, precision, accuracy. Thats all, just saying my thoughts my brotha
One useful tip with samples in Audacity is to play the section on repeat before cutting it out of the bigger audio sample. Also using the shortcut 'Z' on the selected part will move the begin and end points to a 0 Db or "silent" part of the sample. If you zoom out on the selection and press 'Z' you will see the begin and end points move a little. Once you play the sample on repeat you can tell if you have a "loopable" section. Once you do then you can extract it to a new track and do all the audio destructive things you want to it (change pitch, speed, tempo, chop the chops to place in multiple Audio File Processors in LMMS). I like chopping the chops to get a variety on the loop. I can say chop a 16 bar loop into 4 or 8 samples, export them and play them in and out of sequence in a Beat-Bassline editor or piano roll.
thanks for this, I was considering trying Audacity but never thought of using it for sampling. I could not figure it out in LMMS. This video not only gives me knowledge it gives me power.
i moved to fl but when i was on lmms a tip when using audacity to sample is you can play the loop on repeat to make sure it is seamless (shift and space i think)
an easier way to change key and tempo would be to drag your sample into the free version of Serato Studio, set your key and tempo then export it and drag it into LMMS. It'll be an mp3 but most people sample as mp3 anyways.
A tip is to generate a rythm track in Audacity at the tempo of your choosing, and adjust the lenght of your sample by changing its tempo to match the rythm track. That way you can easily sample at any bmp you prefer.
Hey brother a young producer here, I've been having difficulties in Beat chopping or slicing. Can you make a vid regarding that bro? Will be greatly appreciated 🔥💯
Nice Video man Thank you. Just started getting into make beats and run Linux on my Main PC, I know its not the best DAW but its opensource, and I don't have to mess with windows. I will eventually get FL Studio when I get money for it. I really only use windows for Rekordbox. But I am trying to make my own Mixes and samples and stuff and Hope to achieve that with LMMS. Thank You for this video.
Just a thought, and I know if it's possible but... When you're trying to match up the tempo on the sample track, what if you created two sample tracks, and then, slightly overlapped them? Again, just a thought. That's something I would try. Although I'm relatively new two Lmms. Good luck!
@@imasnnake7254 so, in the my presets or where you find the stock plug-ins you could pull up the audio file processor and load a wav file of the audio you want to sample. Then you could adjust the start and end length knobs on the audio file processor. I used to do it a lot, because I found it easier than trying to use the sampling adder they have in LMMS. You could also use audacity to chop up a sample, because you'll actually be able to cut it to the time you need, rather than having to skim a 360 second sample to loop it lol. But short samples, it's easy peasy
Im sure this will help alot of people. True legend bro🖤
Much love my brother 🖤
me, it helps me and I take no shame in admitting this. Although I do wish there was more direct control in LMMS over sampling.
