I do as well. I used to fully envelop it in my rectum, but my doctor recommended I leave it outside my body.
I think the magnet is small because it's mean't to pop in the middle, so it looks nice and is satisfying. If the magnet would be big then it would connect randomly on any side of the zippo cap. There seem to be more reasons for the magnet being small, but you get the point.

the whole insert doesn't have to be magnetic. Could have a thin rectangular insert that fits perfectly and only the middle of it be the magnet

instead of plastic. But later in designing we have found, that rounded insert
works as fine as rubber one but it is much easier to produce and less
expensive. How do I mean that it works as good as rubber one, well please watch

Neat idea !!! Especially if you can use it as a retrieval device for metal things dropped down a sewer for instance.

Isn't it going to loosen the lid up, since the weight of the lighter is now transferred to the hinge? And we all know what is happening from there - the fuel evaporates in a blink of an eye...
It shouldn't. Zippos are very light weight and the hinge mechanism is fairly strong.

Hey Jeff, love your vid's. But disagree about the long rectangular insert. I like the fact that the smaller insert will ensure that the outer magnet will be centered on the Zippo.

Jeff, you should see if the coating on that magnet melts as it will come real close to a hot chimney and that coating may melt or even ignite. I'll admit it's rather unlikely but worth testing I reckon. Also, what up with this person almost being sued by Zippo, just cause it had 'zip' in the name? Come off it Zippo.

Love that white zippo lighter
I always end up losing the hinge pins on Zippo lighters.
I usually replace the pin with a D ring from a key fob,then run a lanyard through it.
It works better than that magnet on the lid,that allows the lid to possibly open unintentionally.
The last thing you want to have happen is to have it under your shirt and come open.
Lighter fluid isn't kind to your skin.
I've had more than one burn on my leg from a Zippo leak in the pants pocket.
Zippo makes something like this with a loop on the hinge it's called the zippo loss proof

I carry my zippo in my pocket and carry some hemp wick to smoke out of my pipe because the zippo smoke is nasty to inhale but I love the smell

A lot of people have said a long magnet wouldn't work because the magnet on the chain couldn't find center & they're right, but what if he did a square magnet that was encased in a piece of plastic that was the size of the zippo's cavity? This way it would fit in perfectly, but the magnet could still find center?
You could also colour each side of the plastic so you know where the north/south poles are?

its very rare to get them matching cause they are produced separately. it even says on the website that if they match that could be a sign of a fake one

I think Sandy should put some plastic around the magnet to make it easier to put it in the lid and avoid buying dearer magnets. Sandy should also put like a ribbon or something in there to make it easier to pull out the magnet or maybe more plastic, metal attached to the extra plastic on the insert. I'd defenitely buy one. Hopefully no one in China will take this idea lol.

I don't think you guys quite understood my suggestion. I meant elongate the magnet with the use of metal or plastic, because Jeff said a longer magnet would have been better than a disc. Dosent seem to be a huge problem, but it'd make the necklace more user friendly.

Nope, wont work to find it zippo has a lighter its a never loose your zippo again and i never have ,because i tend to loose them it has a string w a hinge attached on the side of the cover, works perfectly ,i would never wear my zippo around my neck
