@Khazule Actually, the SRT8 has 425HP, the Camaro SS has 426HP. The Camaro is about 200-300 lbs lighter, .3 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile, has better gas mileage, is over $10,000 cheaper, and doesn't take 91 octane only, like the Challenger does.
@tsblair95 i have a challenger and i've beaten a '10 camaro ss before on the street, and at the track was runin the EXACT same time with another.. i dont have any drag videos up but u can chek out my other videos which jus shocase how lovely my challenger sounds and goes
@1skateblue nooo noo, they dont do 4.4sec..i'v raced two, one on the track and one on an open road from stand still, i beat one and tied the other..no magazine has even clocked that at 4.4..i dunno where u got ur info from
@DodgeFan439 Maybe you missed the specs on the new Camaro? It spanks the Challenger R/T and SRT8 in performance, and a lot of people would argue, looks also.
@1skateblue the challenger can do 4.6-4.9 in the 0-60, i have an SRT8(btw chek out my videos!)...before i started modding mine i was doing in the 4.8s for 0-60...when it was completly stock i BEAT a camaro SS by about a few feet soo both cars are evenly matched..the SRT8 will be a collectors car one day and hold more value than the camaros will
@DodgeFan439 When I said specs I meant how well the car performs. The Camaro is faster when going to 60 and faster in the 1/4 mile. If you like spending an extra $10,00o get beat by a Camaro then that's your choice.
@DodgeFan439 Also, they say it hits 60MPH in 5.1 seconds? My 2001 Camaro Z28, rated at 310HP does 0-60 in 5.1 seconds. Granted, the Challenger has a lot of other nice things about it, but when a car that much older and with 100 less HP can keep up with it, you've got a problem.
I always liked the new Charger, but wished they just named it something new. As a brand new nameplate I think it would have sold more. But I like the style of it.
You're right The General Lee was the Charger but they design the Challenger to be like the General Lee I made the same mistake because it looks alot like the General Lee.
@Zinizzle i was at a car show on sunday and had my challeneger parked next to a camaro..u wud be surprised on how many people came up to me and whispered "i'd take ur challeneger ANYDAY over that camaro"..the challeneger has better looks by far, trust me lol..when i bought mine, i was actually on the way to the chevy dealership to go buy the camaro, all of a sudden somethin told me to stop at doddge first to see the challenger, fell in love on the first drive
I have to agree with DodgeFan439. Working in a parking garage I have seen both. The Challenger was easily recognizable as such whereas one has to do a double take on the Camaro to be sure of what it is. Even the Mustangs look close to the originals. Having owned a 69 Runner and a 72 Challenger back in the day I think Dodge hit one out of the park with this one, especially if it has HEMI letters on the hood.
@DodgeFan439 i was at a car show on sunday and had my challeneger parked next to a camaro..u wud be surprised on how many people came up to me and whispered "i'd take ur challeneger ANYDAY over that camaro"..
This is my dream car. I'm fkin 6'8, the best I can hope for is a truck or some lame mini van. I want a car that I can into just like everybody else. I can sit in the driver side without hittin the wheel with my knees or adjustin the seat. I can also sit with my legs fully reachin the peddles no problems. It also rides so quiet. Anybody with big friend knows we dnt like too much attention. So this car is perfect. I'm not a car guy but man I love this one.
Camaro and Mustangs are fine if you dont mind telling people you drive a camaro or mustang...The challenger is a grown mans car while camaros and mustangs will always be boy toys. They make a challenger for every flavor from a base v6 to a fully loaded hellcat. Not to mention us old folks can actually fit our kids in the backseat without any problem..just a better car all around to be driven on a daily basis...and who buys a muscle car for gas mileage numbers anyway..
@hhsfball05 Dodge did do an awesome job with the challenger! But if i had to pick from the big 3 ponies, i would actually go with the mustang. Best handling, best visibility, over all performance and comfort, and great build quality! then the Camaro, but they had some issues to take care of on it, like that nasty C-pillar terrible visibility. But the Challenger would be the only thing i would buy from Dodge, or Chrysler LLC.
Of all the retros, this is absolutely done right followed by Mustang and I'm sorry to say, Camaro is at the bottom of that heap. Camaro is a glorified Cadillac CTS. 2008 SRT8 #4073/6400.
that is a nice car! but it didn't make the Camaro invisible haha, the production on the Camaro is running like crazy...so sorry dude your hypothesis was wrong
@bano11323 Sure the Challenger will become a classic some day. But there's no doubt the Camaro will also be a classic, the big three are building excellent and high quality muscle cars. But in the short term, Dodge is digging itself deeper into a hole. I would wager that Dodge is losing money on building the Challenger, and unless things turn around soon they might be killing the Challenger again due to sluggish sales.
Wow maegris, those are some bitter pills - guess your new Beetle broke down? As for a straight line, the SRT8 is one of the stickiest cars I have ever driven, and owned. Best part is, you can turn off the traction control and have the most free spirited ride you want then, turn it back on and effortlessly take the winding road home. If you don't like the Challenger, why are you here? The rest of us came because we recognize both muscle and art in motion. Retro done right, the muscle is a bonus.
it's still a shit car. the steering offers no feedback on the viper (whether the acr is different, i doubt it) and it loses grip at the drop of a hat. the driver must have really knew the track like the back of his hand, i give him credit. anyway, in every single comparison test where the acr is competing, it always finishes last or 3rd (out of 4).
hang on euro sports car. yeah why not. it be great fun if it was tort and stiff, the car looks good proably good in straight line but wont stop or steer for shit. with wagon leef springs still in it i think the camoros interpendent suspension will distroy rivials. doge has cut back to save money again.(look at the interor)well every car in ameirica seems to do that now adays. and whats wrong with a europen v8 u herd a 430 ferrari sory doge u disapoint me agian
Sorry, but i would prefer a BMW ///M POWER More horses under the hood the BMW has too. And unlike this car, the computer knows how to use it- and so will I once I can afford it................. I will have to make do with my Nissan maxima for now......
so why the fuck you check the car out then are you curious? thought so. cause if not just keep looking at ford then there's nothing wrong with mustang and there's certainly nothing wrong with the challenger friend
Not to be a douche, but everyone here might want to invest in buying the new challenger any package. At the rate theyre going you wont see them at all. Theyre pushing 800 cars per month. Thats really bad compared to ford and chevy at the moment. So im here to to tell all buy dodge. Knock ford off
So you don't even know what Mustangs are made by Ford. You better keep your mouth shut next time... GT500 is made by Ford and it has 500+ hp. GT500 easily spanks SRT8 any day of the week. (When Dodge is out of the service ofcourse.) And as for "found on road dead" - hilarious especially when you check the stats where you can clearly see that Ford easily beats Dodge quality-wise. Not speaking about those two letters: "BK".
The 2009 Challengers are awesome. LOVIN' mine. The new Camaros are ugly. They should have gone more retro or not at all. What they're left with is a car that looks like a Corvette trying on an old Camaro costume. DISLIKE
this guy doesn't know what he's talking about, the car is shit to drive. the steering is very uncommunicative, and the suspension is much too soft. it was built for straight lines. once the camaro comes, it will blow this and the mustang out of the water with it's nurburgring-tuned suspesnion, and corvette v8.
@Zinizzle i was at a car show on sunday and had my challeneger parked next to a camaro..u wud be surprised on how many people came up to me and whispered "i'd take ur challeneger ANYDAY over that camaro"..the challenger has better looks by far, trust me lol..when i bought mine, i was actually on the way to the chevy dealership to go buy the camaro, all of a sudden somethin told me to stop at doddge first to see the challenger, fell in love on the first drive
I love the 6.1L hemi thay nalid it with the challinger an 300c

first time i have ever seen the boot( trunk ) open
that car is so sick looking. dodge designers did an incredible job. I want a black on black 1
@DodgeFan439 Maybe you missed the specs on the new Camaro? It spanks the Challenger R/T and SRT8 in performance, and a lot of people would argue, looks also.

@Khazule Also...the SRT8 does 0-60 in 5.1 seconds? My '01 Camaro Z28 does 0-60 in 5.1 with 310HP. And the 2010 Camaro SS does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds.

just saw all 3 models of the new challenger at the auto expo, I HAVE to own one of these cars
No, it cannot. Check your facts. They are so closely matched, it comes down to the driver on every drag I have seen.
what does a challenger have to do with bo and luke duke?
How can you compare GT (300+bhp) to SRT8 (425bhp)?
@DodgeFan439 i was at a car show on sunday and had my challeneger parked next to a camaro..u wud be surprised on how many people came up to me and whispered "i'd take ur challeneger ANYDAY over that camaro"..
I have one. An orange 2008 srt8 challenger. Ask me a question.
This is my dream car. I'm fkin 6'8, the best I can hope for is a truck or some lame mini van. I want a car that I can into just like everybody else. 2:59 wow the best car in the world
I can NOT get over how fucking beautiful this looks!
um they are going to release a manual next year friend so don't get so angry
I don't understand why they named it Challenger when the coupe was Charger.
Gorgeous machine though. I would still pick Mustang anyways.
Edit: If you include the super snake the only redemption for the challenger would be a road runner
and discussion is over btw
Even though ford has the gt500 now dodge is coming out with the srt 10 and if all goes well theyre going to release a road runner
Bo and Luke drove a charger.
man my dad has this car and we want to race a camaro or shelby 500 but we had a guy in a baricuda with nos affraid to ride us
i saw dis car in black in front of wal-mart OMG it looks so good i wish i had a camera
@buttnut1080 Agreed.
I love this Car
I'm sorry.. but that was a stupid comment. horsepower doesn't directly determine speed.
no man thats the facotry color cote if youre a collecter thats the one you want lol

Why does the Challenger need to be redeemed by a Road Runner Yung?
"A woman to pick up guys" wtf?
@hhsfball05 Dodge did do an awesome job with the challenger! But if i had to pick from the big 3 ponies, i would actually go with the mustang. @DodgeFan439 the new hemi is gonna kill the camaro agree it is a nice car bout dosent have the power
@tsblair95 im not wrong its the facts do your research.
that is a nice car! but it didn't make the Camaro invisible haha, the production on the Camaro is running like crazy...so sorry dude your hypothesis was wrong

I wanna get one of these one day :)
uhhh..... how are you faster by 1 horsepower? like what? one car tops out at 175 horsepower per hour and the other goes 176? lol
how come its not manual ? thats stupid
wow you're going to buy a car based on its name and look? if everybody did that, the gumpert would have no sales.
Awesome car. Dodge is my favorite American car maker.
eyyyy people does challenger is a good carrr?????????????? cuz i want to buy a car an im beetwen camaro and challenger
about time all muscle cars these days are just aful look what happened to the charger
GT being the highest model of Mustang? Wrong. Check again mate.

The duke boys never drove a Challenger!
maybe cause this dodge is 2 times cheaper ? (even more actually) :D

dukes of hazzard
haha, I see I'm not the only one with this car on there wish list.
Cool bean's
You completely miss the point of this car.
Sorry, but i would prefer a BMW ///M POWER
More horses under the hood the BMW has too.
And unlike this car, the computer knows how to use it- and so will I once I can afford it................. I will have to make do with my Nissan maxima for now......

Women picking up guys ahhaha
Haha yeah right. Camaro's look amazing, a lot better than the challenger

i love the way u make fun of dodge by bringing shrel in the picture (ogre).........DUHHH HURRRR!!!!
dodge man all the way f
LMAO. Right...

Camaro rules and is faster.
