Egon Wellesz was an Austrian composer mainly occupied with Byzantine music (studies), but he also composed music in the vein of early German expressionism. His early four "Eklogen" [eclogues / bucolic poems] of 1919-1912 sound remarkably like Ravel. The title and music refer back to Wellesz occupation with studies of Byzantine (music) and the classical antiquity.
Wellesz crafted these wonderful pieces with lots of dissonance; yet, while there is tension, they are so calming ! Love the Impressionist, pastoral, somewhat static harmonic language ! Seems like Wellesz may have influenced O. Messiaen.
Awesome work! Great to see some Wellesz on here!

+이옥희 You're very welcome!
woah
klavier means piano??
+Joungu Lee yes!
I am more interested in his works on Byzantine Music. Truly a great understanding of historical inheritance deduced from this work. One can barely distinct more conservative influence than Schonberg.
Scriabin?
Ok
Socororabin?
More like early Berg
