This little or not so little fellow (depending on how you are using it) helps regain some trust in my old friends from China. Did you make a choice yet? I gave my daughter my BTR5 as I also intended to upgrade to the iFi go blu or Qudelix. There were some people saying the iFi has a high noise floor with sensitive IEM's so I bought the Qudelix. For the price I love it. But the controls can be frustrating if trying to operate them from your pocket. It also does not support in-line mic control functions if your cable has them. These are important functions to me as I mainly use the device when I'm mobile and a quick pause to engage in conversation with a passerby is sometimes necessary. I wish I knew the BTR7 was coming, I may have waited.

    Also, I’m just wondering I get this kind of metallic sensation from the FiiO DACs I’m doing something wrong is there a way to lesson that.
    One other thing the FiiO website does anybody know why it’s so slow and or if there’s another link for the firmware update because the website is almost impossible to access --so slow so very slow… the FiiO app says it’s updated, but the current firmware is V1.85 but I have 1.68.

    I am trying to decide between BTR7 and UA5 to be used when traveling, with Fostex T60RP Argon (balanced, updated xenon pads mod), streaming Tidal from my iPad air 4. Other headphones I may use are Massdrop/Fostex TH-X00 Ebony and E-MU Teak (both single ended). I tried all 3 of them with my Shanling UA3 and preferred how the T60RP argons sounded with most music genres I listen to (rock, 80’s, 90’s, psytrance, tech-trance, dub). I like the UA3 but I am looking for a higher end device that can provide more power and better resolution, separation and layering with a faster and a bit more defined bass. BTR7 has 25% more power (300mW vs 240mW) into low impedance loads like the HE400SE but this is a small enough difference you'd not likely notice. Qudelix actually has more voltage (4V vs 3.5V) into high impedance headphones. Qudelix also has much better PEQ and is far smaller and lighter too.

    • @nikhilchandra3778
      @nikhilchandra3778 Рік тому

    Elevated bass frequency response? That's unusual. Most of these devices and made to have a flat frequency response.

    Really wish they would have designed it like the BTR5, the hexagon shaped buttons and the low resolution colour screen just lock cheap and tacky.

    So you prefere it to the Shanling ua5?

    • @Soundnews
      @Soundnews  Рік тому +3

      BTR7 is more feature packed and a little more powerful with desktop headphones, but when it comes to IEMs, I actually like the warmer sound signature of the UA5.

      @@Soundnews thank you so much for your helpful answer. I really like your videos and that you respond so quickly and help me out is really great.
      I use the Fiio FH7, so in ears. Seems like then the Shanling may be the better sounding option.

      @@-Ambos- I also have the FH7 and find them amazing for the price, but a little bit hoter sounding in the treble. UA5 will make them more natural and smoother sounding in there. I find the FH7 + UA5 having a more pleasing tonality. Don't forget that UA5 works only in wired mode ;-)

      @@Soundnews Oh it seems like you were the perfect person to ask about this.
      I don´t really care about bluetooth since I think the little bit more comfort isn´t worth the worse sound quality.
      So the UA5 it will be. Thank you again!

    Well I use 2.5mm balanced and 3.5 So I just do not understand why Fiio Would Not Include A 2.5mm Balanced Connection On The BTR7 . There's only 1 device I have that I Could Even Use 4.4 And That's My LetShouer S12s Which I Currently Use With A Detachable 2.5mm Balanced . Why Can't We Have 2.5 4.4 and 3.5 on The Same Device

    Best Bluetooth Dac amp ever great hardware but worst software possible the FiiO control app is so barebone it's not even funny i guess for FiiO even copying what others have done is just too hard it's like the hardware and software are made by two different companies

    while it sounds good, the screen and buttons implmentation is horrid! the screen is much larger but entire screen shows LDAC! and the vol numbers are now even smaller than that of BTR5. the buttons....if you wanna pause music, you have to tap once to wake the screen, then tap again to pause. and the screen dont even show that you have paused the music. why wake up the screen then??? a complete waste of its bigger colour screen. e.g. it will be more logical if the screen change to show the volume when one is adjusting it. and number changes colour like red if passed 60 to show harmful loudness and green to show normal listening volume etc so that the colour is information. really great sound and poor UI.

    That’s not a DAP, we need a real DAP to have offline music in high quality. Not streaming music.
