- Now that we're probably just a few months away from 1.6, it's time to go over all of the things that have been revealed over the last year or so! There's a lot that was revealed through tweet replies, which can be hard to find, so hopefully you find out about something you didn't know before!

Imagine a Swamp Farm where crops will automatically be watered but you cant use fertilizer
omg that would be game breaking for speedruns
I already constantly forget that fertilizer exists so that would be a straight upgrade for me haha
Maybe it would let you fish up that void fish and be a bit more twisy turny to navigate
That's OP, maybe like it's watered constantly but since it's swamp water crops are always worse quality (but that's a problem since most people keg them anyway) or grow slower

The fact that Stardew is a one-person show is consistently mind-blowing for its quality and speed.
Oh... I heard he has a small team working with him i think to speed up the updates for consoles and mobile devices.

Makes sense considering Ginger Island has the forest/jungle area to the East and we got the beach farm with 1.5
I can't deny I'm rooting for a bayou/wetlands farm tho... I mean, just imagine the sheer volume of people creating Shrek-like characters and saying GET OUT OF MY SWAMP

The SDV community is my absolute favorite community! Not only is everyone super genuinely nice, but whenever theres a new update the interaction between the creator and the players is the best ive seen. Everyone involved just loves the game so much!
a close second has to be the satisfactory community imo
I like SDV's community, but it has an ugly underbelly. The majority of people in it are extremely backwards-thinking and will oppose almost any idea for change/improvement that hasn't been mentioned by CA himself. Also, because it's a "safe space" game for a ton of non-gamery people, the mantra of accepting any and all playstyles in SDV is actually a lie, as these people feel threatened by speedrun- and optimization-inclined players and will often openly say that not stopping to smell the roses is "not how you're supposed to play SDV."
It's been a nice change of pace for me. I got tired of always being the positive one in toxic games like League. Coming here and seeing how the community acts and engages with one another has been pretty awesome and refreshing.
@@i_am_ergoI would have to disagree purely because I haven't seen anyone having arguments like that. I'm not on reddit or anything, but about a month ago I met this really nice person on a different video through yt comments (the place you're never supposed to go because it's so toxic) and they were so awesome. They encouraged me to play my game however I wanted; even if I wasn't maximizing profit, I was maximizing fun. They wished me good luck finding someone to co-op with after I mentioned it was lonely sometimes. They were genuinely so nice and I don't think i'll ever forget them, whoever they are. But the point is, I have NEVER had an interaction like that online before. I think the sdv community is just... kind of different, in a good way.
@@spam-el3ee Surely you understand that drawing _any_ conclusions about a community of millions from your interaction with a single person is silly, right?
I'm speaking from reddit experience myself. The facade of the community is all sunshine and rainbows, pretty much like the person you described. And it's like that deep down for the most part too. But it also has *a ton* of passive aggressive hypocrites and outright assholes in it that will jump you and gang up on you just like that.
For example, a while back I made the mistake of suggesting that maybe CA could add the Swift enchantment as an option for the watering can for easier traversal of the volcano. Boy, did I get the shit kicked out of me for that one.
I think the cow has to do with Lunar New Year. The 'good fortune' line would also make sense then. The cow is to represent the year of the cow, because each year is dedicated to one of twelve animals. It could be a wild guess, but I think it could make sense.

That don't make sense tho, the last year of cow is 2021, and the next one is 2033, post this in 2024 just make no sense, CA should draw a dragon (this year's animal) if that's what he means.
Honestly I'd be fine with a new variety of cow. We've got so many chickens, let's do cows now

dont forgot the indian new year event, it has a lot to do with cows and they are considered to be the main focus of the event
i'm kinda starting to feel bad for getting so much new content for free at this point, the man has a heart of gold
I think its just a testament that he isnt here to make money, hes here to make art. And considering what the game is about I think that's what makes it so iconic and wholesome.
Whether he does it for money or not, the man has made plenty. It's impressive, his game is beating animal crossing on switch, heck it's beating most Nintendo exclusive titles on switch. It's still selling and immensely popular. I cannot wait for haunted chocolatier.

That was my thought as well.
The "Good fortune to you in the coming year." could be a new channel on the TV that appears only once a year in new year’s eve. Maybe it will predict if you’re lucky in the next year.

@@fateerah851 Yes.! If you watch speedruns, you might notice the player do a “half step” (like pressing W once really fast) They dont wan’t it to count as a full step because of luck the next day
@y Luck is based on a TON of factors. Steps is the way to manipulate it.
In regards to the Christmas tree image, it includes milk and cookies so maybe a new cutscene with Santa?

I was so convinced 1.5 was going to be the final major update for Stardew (mainly due to it adding end credits). Love how CA is still putting in effort into this game after all these years, even when having a new game in the works.
tbf Update 1.5 was pretty final in scope with a whole new area and it did add enough content to satisfy the average player imo
ConcernedApe is a freaking legend. This man loves the community and he deserves our support for that kind of behavior. I am super excited to see what mysteries we have to discover and what else he has given us. Thank you, Concerned, for this amazing gem of a game.

So thankful for devs like ConcernedApe that go above and beyond for players. Stardew Valley is such a special game and CA deserves all of the praise and success.
I’m leaning towards that the brown hat on the dog from the teaser could actually be the archaeologist’s hat from terraria. I imagine there’s going to be some terraria themed items added with 1.6 because of the crossover they did
My theory is that hats will be DYEABLE. Can you IMAGINE THE POWER?? Omg and if we could actually make light colors when we dye clothes/paint buildings... My sdv experience would be complete. I need nothing else
My guess on the cow: We're going to get the ability to make highly customizable signs, with custom text and things like the cow and the stardrops as assets we can add to them as stickers, basically
Nope. There's an actual Camel inside the cow's design. It's on the cow's ass to showcase the Camel hump

CA seems like such a humble guy who feels a dedication to the game and the fan base. A few weeks ago I found an interview with him on some random blog when the game was still in prerelease, and he was saying he hoped it could one day be on Steam. Not that it would make him rich and famous, just that he could get it to a slightly larger platform. If anyone deserves grace and patience, it’s him

yesss im wondering that too.. Ik you can already place flowers, which are edible, I thought food already could be placed too? Im on pc so maybe that makes a difference

What I really want is to expand on Shane. He has one of the best arcs in the game, changing his whole life but as soon as you marry him he kinda goes back to his old ways.
I kinda want them to expand all the spouses. More specifically, the fact that a lot of them dont seem to do anything besides sit at the farm after you get married. I know theres the immersive spouses mod but an addition to the game would be nice!

One thing I like about My Time At Sandrock is that if you marry an NPC, they don't just become a homebody; they'll go out and do the same things they did before you got married then make their way back home to the player's workshop at the end of the day. The only major scheduling change is to that last bit, where before they'd go to their own in-game home base.
same- i use a mod to fix this in the meantime, called the Immersive Shane Mod, it’s absolutely great for any shane lovers

Yeah I always find it pretty sad when Sam comes home after visiting his parents and says stuff like "It's kind of weird... everything is more formal than it used to be. we're living totally different lives now" like aaagh (AND YES I MARRIED SAM DONT @ ME HE WAS AN EASY TARGET AND I WANTED FREE LABOR)
From the cow picture I thought maybe a new stardrop from farming or animal rearing. Also the indoor pic of a box on the floor and a xmas tree - could santa be leaving us a prezzy?

Is it just me... I just got past the part where we have to "Focus on the Cow". On the back half of the cow it looks like a brown Camel spot... Maybe something to do with Camels? Not to be mistaken with the Camel in the Desert.

Yes thats what i was thinking too! Or maybe the ability to make postcards or letters to send to other players in multiplayer or send to villagers to have another way to increase (or decrease) friendship. Or if the picture is showing off a photo mode maybe you could add stickers and text in the photo mode.

You covered it at the very end, but CA is such an amazing developer. He could've released 1.5 as a paid DLC and I gladly would've bought it seeing how much content was there. It almost feels dirty that we're getting so much love from him for free. I've bought the game twice, and even though I don't really play it on my phone, I don't regret it because he's more than earned that money.

The picture with the Christmas tree also had a box or like a package which you get from the start of the game. So in my opinion theres a chance that santa will actually visit your farm and give you a gift

As someone who has spoken with Eric for game advice and the like he really is one of the kindest people I have ever met so if anyone deserves all the time in the world to make things as great as the can be its him.

i like how both stardew valley and terraria are in this stage of "the update will come out any minute now!" but they were about a few months off their planned release date

I wonder if the ability to change the day length will be added -- based on nothing other than being blown away by the Sun Haven slider allowing a 20, 30, or 40 minute day. It's a killer feature.
I think the scythe being in both images is an iron scythe (meaning we now are able to upgrade the scythe at Clint's) though it might just be the standard scythe as a reference to the new iridium scythe that CA already confirmed

I love your updates because they summarize everything so well and because I don't have Twitter/X I can't keep myself up to date. Also, I admire Concerned Ape so much for all he has done and continues to do for this community. He is still in best interest of the player and not just out for money.

6:30 I KNOW WHY WE SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO THE COW! In brown at the back of the cow you can see an outline of a camel. They’re already in the game and you could get them in the desert. It makes total sense.

Maybe its a canning maschine for the fish you catch. For example it can make tins of sardines ? It would make sence after pickling fish roe :) It can increase the value of some fish ?
Well there is already a canning machine in the Artisan mod. It’s so useful if you have both Automate and loads of crab pots.

Yeah I went to the concert and e just randomly showed up on stage. It was really cool of him to fly down to LA from Seattle. It was honestly a real treat since I only had heard about the day before the concert was happening and happened to be sat infront of the concertmaster with my girlfriend. It was a really fun and cute time.

Gotta add this, I think a discord mod posted in the modding channel in the discord server to tell modders to prepare mod updates cause it could drop next week for the anniversary of the game
I saw on Pathoschild's (Creator of SMAPI, Tractor mod, CJB Cheats, and other stuff) Nexus Mods profile that every single mod they made was updated on Feb. 20th. Definitely very soon.

You know what else would be interesting? A Factory Farm..... If you choose the Joja route you can buy things that completely automate the farming process. It would make for an interesting choice.

If I were to make a guess about the cow, I would be inclined to point out the stardrops on either side. Perhaps a new cow that gives stardrop…milk? Seems a bit OP. But a variant cow or new cow would be kind of cool nonetheless.

I have behives placed on my farm in rows of flowers with sprinklers & I inable my juminos on either side until close to the end of season. That way I get flower honey all season & near the end I enable the juminos, they pick all the flowers so it's extra money. In any case I love the flowers.
I have to agree. He's an awesome guy. About a year back I tweeted how awesome Stardew Valley is and I still play it to this day over any of my other games. He commented under my tweet that he was happy to hear it. ❤Sometimes the simple things in life really make an impact.
I think the New Year's message gives a good clue: "good fortune FOR YOU in the coming year" (pointing to the cow) that would mean that dairy products could be sold at a higher price or have better quality.

4:55 there is milk and cookies on each nightstand, meaning if its not an edited photo, you would be able to place "food" items on furniture now.

When a games maker actually puts there love for there creation into it i generally ends up a good game because peaple can feel the care and effort put into the games.
Unless it's the smegle game not shere what they put into that thing.
This is the single greatest result of the digital revolution of things like Steam and widely available game-creation tools like Unity and Unreal Engine. Imagine Toby Fox having to find a traditional publisher for a game like Undertale back in the '90s on the SNES or something, the executive meddling that would've ended up happening, or the same thing with bringing Stardew Valley to something like the GBA (since it is, after all, heavily inspired by Harvest Moon: Back to Nature/Friends of Mineral Town.)
Creators maintaining creative control, this is as it should be.
I think the mystery box might be related to the hooded guy in the image with Sebastian and Jas. Maybe a new weekly bender who sells you mystery boxes varying in rarity. And I think the fish machine may be something to improve the spawn rates of a whatever fish you put in it. But that’s a bit of a stretch
I think 1.6 will be coming out quite soon tho, bc in the modding community some of the mods just started updating their mod to a ‘1.6 alpha’ version
some mods have been updating since mid January. SMAPI is the one you really want to pay attention to and that one just publicly dropped 4.0, a 1.6 alpha version a few days ago so i think it should be soon as well.
In one of discord groups Pathoschild (creator of SMAPI) put out a message saying that the update will come out sometime between Feb 26 and March 4. So yeah very soon apparently

@@3rdfatedsimmer840concerned ape is probably letting the creators of the more popular mods know about the update/ have early access to the update so they can have their mods be compatible with the update as soon as it comes out. Especially considering the original purpose of the update was making the game more mod compatible.

I loved this game before I played it. When I found out about Eric Barone I loved it even more, and will wax lyrical about him to anyone who will listen.
One of the few games I’ve had zero issues buying on multiple different platforms, ConcernedApe is an example to all game devs

My guess is the significants of the cow is in the pattern. I think it is a map image. Maybe from around the lake in the forest? But then it would have a section that doesn’t currently exist. So maybe there will be an expansion to the south east of the lake?

I love how in that last tweet he says that the update ended up being a "little" larger than planned. Understatement of the century from the man who can't quit. I am forever grateful.
When I found out that SDV was made by one developer it blew my mind considering there are entire teams dedicated to Story of Seasons and Harvest and most of the time they can't manage to release an enjoyable game.

My theory about the cow bit is that we may have some chinese new year event early in spring, and we could have different types of years (cow, dragon, pig, rabbitt, etc) and that affected the whole year in a way.

I think the cow is an option to add custom overlays for your photos in photo mode, kinda similar to in animal crossing
