Happened to get the 158 for my birthday back in April. Just a real top-tier watch from Casio, not my daily per say (An F91, version is mine). I've got numrous of casios all over 10 years now, but this one has always stood out.
Nice watch. I had one similar when I was on active duty 1974-81. Unfortunately it didn't last as long as my Timex did. I got it a little bit before I went overseas and not long after I got back it died. I've been carrying a pocket watch since 2017 and it still amazes me with some people's reaction when I pull it out.
An excellent restoration. I own many Casio lcd watches like this style. They are the A158 and A159. Some are made in Japan and some in Thailand and some in China. They are all very durable and excellent watches.
👏👏. But we didn’t got to see how you fix the dark spot on the top-right corner of the watch. And it seem like the light wasn’t working once the LCD was installed but in the end, it ends up working. But other than that, amazing job.

Hey, great video. I love how you restored the LCD screen. You can likely get more subscribers and start making income. There are two things i'd reccomend. 1) Better/different music with more variety. 2) ASRM style. Good luck! Keep up the hard work sir!
this type of vintage casio is not using the typical EL type like currently casio's watch is using. It uses a smal LED soldered to the circuit board.. so in this case... u might have to change the LED ( or find a replacement circuit board that has functioning LED in your case )... or maybe you can check the LED connector for rust on the connector maybe it can help.

Thank you, for the back of the screen you can search in the internet for "back polar" ... that is the material for back of the LCD, but in my case here and for most LCD's i used metallic sticker to make the numbers pop even more.
This isn’t a real Casio watch. It’s a Chinese knockoff. One dead giveaway is the absolutely huge “Japan U” on the dial. Real casios have VERY tiny writing for the manufacturing plant location. The light, as you mentioned, is also common on these knockoffs. Definitely was not replaced as stated above.
@@bobsmithinson2050 Yeah I was thinking the same. Look at the PCB, and they google 593 module PCB. It's totally different, and I know casio didn't used a different looking 593 module, because I own a very old F91. To further prove my point, I have a knockoff cheap casio, that has the same PCB. You could swap an original 593 module and make it last very long

@@abukambing177 in the 1987, the case of Casio LCD was in steel. And the back of the case was screwed by 4 tiny bolts more later than 1987. And the restoration is good, but you did not changed the buttons o-rings.

The Casio 5610-1ER is a celebration edition from a watch they made in the 80s. This watch has the same shape so reckon this is the one.
Can you list the type of sandpaper and cleaner you used? I had bought polywatch but it doesn't work.
Can a casio a168 illuminator light still repair? I change the battery but still after click the light nothing happen

On the 1987 module, there should be an incandescent lamp and not an LED.
It was probably swapped out for the LED when the incandescent bulb burned out.

you can do that actually as long as the sticker is not too thick... it wont disturb the display.

Try to wear finger cuts so that the oil from your fingers wont damaged the parts
tried using that but it seems i cannot feel the touch of things if i wear that finger glove, maybe my receptor is messed up.
Finger cots are necessary for moving parts such as gears. Yes, also battery should not be touched by fingers; you can use plastic tweezers.

@@63renan i suggest not, because chrome is reflective, and when its reflective you cant really read the digits of the lcd
