Fairbanks Morse Z Style D Cam Bearings Installation and Valve Adjustment

- This is a 1946 Fairbanks Morse Z Style D 2HP magneto-fired, throttle-controlled engine (not hit and miss, although sometimes it sounds like it).
This video shows the process of replacing the camshaft bearings, as the bearings were so loose that the camshaft could be seen flopping around in the previous video of this engine.
I also adjusted the valve lash, put in a new condenser in the magneto and put in a new spark plug. I used to not be able to restart the engine right away once it had been running, but I don't have that problem anymore.
Now I need to find something for the engine to power.
Thanks for the info, I have to take mine apart and have a look at it.
Nice friendly detailed video....
Thank you
Looked like the cotter pins on your governor fly weight axles were not bent. Great video
You're right, they do look straight. Hopefully it won't become an issue.
You showed a lot of patience working on this unit. Congratulations!!
Thanks. It was pretty satisfying getting it going again. And I really should have checked the tappet clearance the first time I installed the camshaft.
@@redxl883c What would be an application for this engine?
These small old engines were typically used on a farm to power a water pump, corn sheller, grinder, small generator, etc. All I need to do now is find some such piece of equipment.
@@redxl883c Wonder if it would power a buzz (cord wood) saw?
Probably not enough hp to cut much of anything.
