I have been contemplating on the minimalistic lifestyle and I think it's a good idea. People say that material items will make you happy but honestly having a lot of stuff makes me feel stressed. So far I gave away 75% of my clothes. Starting a new wardrobe with just the essentials and most of them being neutral colors. It would be a breath of fresh air once I have tackled everything else.
I have been doing the same. Keeping it simple does make my life easier. I have been wanting tomato a video about it! I'm not quiet where I want to be but I'm working on it! there is an app where you take photos of the clothing...I want get it in the near future!
the way i see it with letting gifts go is the person that gave you the present didn't intent for it to make you feel worse. if it's no longer bringing you happiness, it's alright to let it go.
Not to mention if a gift give you bad feelings or memories keeping that gift(s) around keep that negativity flowing. I had some gifts given to me by my mother in law that provoked negative feelings but I kept them out of guilt. Once I got rid of those particular items the bad memories did not arise everytime I walked into the kitchen/living-room and saw that plate, trinket, etc. So purging can be a source of healing and letting go. Not to mention my mother in law doesn't always appreciate our efforts when we give gifts so I no longer feel guilt when donating a gift that does not inspire me or brings me joy and happiness when I look at it. It's almost like forgiveness, we forgive so we may heal the hurt, not to excuse what was done to us. Same should be with belongings that bring unhappy memories to our lives.
Yeah i like them as well , i know people change there life styles but i felt it was becoming Vegan in Nearly every video. So i just stopped watching them. Its nice to have a video to watch!
Thank you for posting this video Christine. I started my minimalism journey last year after a horrible bug infestation in my apartment building forced me and my family to get rid of a lot of our belongings. That experience changed me forever and I've never been happier. Less is indeed more.
I appreciate you staying true to yourself and not promoting products if you won't use them yourself. I wish more people on UA-cam were like that. I must say I love my Sigma brushes and have been using them for years and they have held up really well. There have been other brands like Gerard cosmetics that was complete crap and I was so disappointed with their products and mad I wasted my money on them. I took your advice on skin products and have loved using Andalou naturals. That stuff is awesome!
I really like that you mentioned still having hobbies and enjoying your items. Lately Ive cut back a lot with buying makeup/beauty items but have been buying more surfboards & accessories. I dont feel overwhelmed by those items for because I actually get use out of them (vs just using a beauty product a few times and then have them sit around). I'd like to see a video on crystals! (maybe books you recommend? Favorite crystals? and why?) Thanks!
Hi Christine! Yes, moving prep seems to fly by, so you are really smart to start preparing so far ahead. As a military wife, I became a moving specialist over the years. Lol You guys finally inspired me to start my own channel, and it's been almost a month now. All of your positive energy has been so motivational to me over the past few years, so THANK YOU!!! The way you've scaled down your collection has given me lots of insight, and I think it's so ironic that the more you cut down the more they send you for free. What's a girl to do?? Lol You guys have a beautiful week out there in paradise. ❤Amirah
Ahhhh I love these so much. It really gives me perspective and I feel okay for letting material things go. I love how you are so honest with us and that you never show us things you don't believe in. Thank you for that. I love you Christine.
I love how you specified that it won't happen overnight. Since my grandma passing. This past year I have been slowly purging her stuff. Trash or family. People tell me. Aren't you done yet? It's emotional for one. My grandma had a ton of stuff
+RainbowRamble21 thank you. I grew up with my grandma, she was 104 when she passed, I live in the same house, so everything is a memory. I told myself I'll start the declutter when I'm ready. After the one year, it was time. The clothes were packed up. Guility they're still with me. The big furniture pieces that I didn't want. My aunts took. I told myself and my son helps. We look at an item. Keep or give. My grandma had a lot of stuff. My son and I have a lot too. So every month we get rid of a few things. Still have a garage to go through. Baby steps. It's hard at times. So baby steps. I want my house to be more simple. Once I can afford a new dining room set. The one we have seats 10. It's just my son and I. I can't get family to come over. They're scared to come in. My grandma passed away at the hospital not here. It's only my son and I so smaller table.
+RainbowRamble21 I agree some stuff is hard to let go. The cabinet we had was made by my uncles. I said to myself it was made for grandma, not me. Called my uncles and aunts. Who wants it come and pick it up. So that's gone. I am keeping the items that make me happy. My grandma wore a tiara for her birthday since she turned 100. That I will keep. The memories are in my head and she's in my heart. Where it matters.
It's better to donate to a shelter or give to family and friends. A 'give-away' contest is money coming out of her pocket for postage not to mention these contests seem like an excuse for people to watch videos for the sake of getting something for free. The youtube culture of 'give-aways' needs to die because it encourages people to always expecting something just because they contribute to viewership. It's tacky.
I understand what you are saying. Others on Utube just don't announce a giveaway if that's their issue...that way the true , dedicated viewers get the chance of winning . It's really not that big of a deal. It was just a comment.
I've been decluttering for 2 years! yikes! But I feel I'm finally there (although I still go through my house and look for things to get rid of!) I'm like you though - there will always be room in my house for a new crystal lol!
When I first started watching you, I remember your passion was cupcakes at the time. :) Cupcakes or crystals, I enjoy watching your videos on what you love to collect.
Ahh!! I love this! Your original decluttering videos inspired me to declutter and was the starting point of my minimalist journey! I've been a minimalist for the past two years now. Everything I now own can all fit in the trunk and back of a car and I've never been happier. :)
It's so nice to hear your morals when it comes to making videos with gifted items. It's getting so hard these days to find youtubers to watch that aren't just constantly showing stuff they're given for free as either their monthly favs/grwms etc.... it's obvious to, as you never see the same products used again and again. I can see they want to make a living but the advertising/sponsorship side of youtube has changed the ambience of youtube forever I feel. Your declutter vids also kick started me on a down size in my former spending spending ways. I haven't been able to remove things as quickly, but my clothes/make up is going down and I now buy much less. I also really consider what I now purchase and have drastically reduced my frittering. All becuase of your inspiration. So thank you :)
I've gone cruelty free makeup because of you, going vegtarian now and have been decluttering my house all year. Out with the old decor and in with the new...my home is now a natural home. I feel like mind has been decluttered. Thank you Christine :-)
I went minimalist about 4 years ago -- its a struggle everyday to keep on track especially when your husband isn't completely on board due to life circumstances prior to our meeting. Even tho he is minimal in his clothing, he likes certain things. We (he) has kept like some good china that I actually purchased for my SIL who collects pretty things, from a thrift shop. His excuse is that his family never had good china when he was growing up (or good anything) but I did and so I don't have any desire for it. Little things like that can derail good intentions but minimalism is different for everyone! Love watching your journey and cheering for you both to make it a wonderful life in Arizona! Can't wait to see more vids....Cheers! ♥
I have that power strip in that same color and I LOVE it! I got one in teal for my daughter. Whoever gets that from you will be so happy. It's amazing! For those who don't know it's flexible so u can arrange it into other shapes to fit better in your space if you don't want to keep it in a circle. Great for makeup desk to plug in lighted mirrors, curling iron, hair dryer, cell phone charger etc.
Thanks you so much for sharing this. I too am on a minimalist journey and konmari purge. I was able to give all of my full packages of cosmetics, cleansers, and products to a local woman's shelter. They were so appreciative. It truly was a win-win. I hope you find good homes for your products. Great thoughts and kind words. Thank you MWA
I agree with you, also Mac eyeshadow. Never been a big fan of Mac makeup. I am very pale and feel most of there colors are way to dark for my skin tone.
I actually LOVE audible but I was using it before everyone and their dog started talking about it. I so agree with the Sigma thing, you couldn't go a day without a video about them. I sometimes don't mind the audible if they give good recommendations for books because I love reading and listen when I can't read.
For me it was Michael Todd - my god if I saw one more ytber swearing it was HG. I even started commneting on those vodeos that I'd never buy Michael Todd because of the saturation. And now look, which beauty ytbers still use any of those prodcuts in there grwms etc.....
awesome video .. i have lived as a minimalist for the last 3 years you feel so free and unburdened. Now i am settling down too and Arizona is our place too. LOVE IT .. cant wait to see you in AZ too
I'm definitely not a minimalist. I love to collect vintage & antique items! I love to go thrifting and do diy projects...BUT I do want to declutter so I think these videos will be helpful :) Plus, I just like all of your videos :). I still want to buy stuff & I really like my possessions, but my goal is to get to a point of quality over quantity...Idk if that makes sense lol.
I love to collect things also like 70's retro items and Barbies. But it was at a point where I had to let some things go. It feels wonderful and I want to keep doing it every few months. I agree with buying quality items, a few good tops last longer then 20 cheaply made outlet tops. I also rather have vegan make up/
I am with you on quality over quantity, and I love to collect vintage and antiques as well! But I don't get minimalists.. its like they buy all these great items and spend all this money just to toss them away before their due; because they think it will bring them peace of mind. Why buy anything to begin with? Buy the bare bones essentials and don't ever buy anything else, because I makes no since to buy home décor, makeup, clothing ect just to toss it shortly after. And Christine seems to be notorious for buying things and using them a couple of times and then giving them away. I just don't get it.
i love..love..love..looove..your decluttering vids..your makeup ones inspired me to stop purchasing stuff aimlessly and to go through my collection in stages and cut it by at least two thirds..and it feels SO good to see that all I have is what I love and actually use..and that in the process..someone else is enjoying the stuff I gave up too!..it's win-win!
I once spent three days decluttering my house and in a phone conversation with my sister Marie, noted that as odd as it sounded, my house actually seemed lighter because it had lost the weight of all those possessions. Now am in the process of moving from my home of 35 years to a new home and have those decluttering decisions to make anew. So - today put a lot of "stuff" out to the curb and I am now most popular "picking site" in town.
I do the same as you less skincare and makeup on my face. Whatever you can get away with not using and letting your skin breath is best. Love that you are able to let things go of things and be free of the clutter.
I dont know if youve done this in the past, but I think another fun thing to do kinda tied into minimalism is a use it up challenge.. like for makeup or toiletries? I think it helps in sticking with a no-buy, and its something you can do with your subscribers.
So excited for these videos Christine ! I started de cluttering when I watched your very first series and I've never looked back - best thing I've ever done !
I collect non- or once used giftable products (mostly lotions and nail polishes) in a pretty box and invite visitors (usually at a birthday party) to take whatever they like. It is fun, and even if visitors encounter a product that they have gifted me themselves I can explain that I value it too much to let it spoil in the back of a bathroom cabinet! Win-win.
i did a minimizing spree a while back as well. I had accumulated a whole box of almost 20 different nail polishes. I'm in nursing school and soon it will be the end of my laquered nail days. I sold them all at a yard sale to a little girl who was so ecstatic
I want to cut down on my beauty items too..I have a lot that just sit there and gather dust. I got rid of tons of my makeup a few years ago and stopped needlessly buying it, which has definitely been good. I do have a problem with skin care and having tons of back ups. I figure cause I'll use it eventually but it's so much nicer to run out and have to go buy more for whatever reason.
I'm a minimalist as well and I love your channel so I'm double blessed. Good resources for you are Josh Becker's Becoming Minimalist. He lives in Phoenix and I just attenedes his book signing a couple weeks ago. Also, The Minimalists. They gave a talk in Phoenix a couple years ago discussing minimalism. They have a documentary movie that comes out today. By the way, Arizona is beautiful in the winter so you'll be moving at a perfect time. Hope that helps Christine.
I don't know if you've read this book " the life changing magic of tidying up" by Marie Kondo...I started watching your videos and watching your decluttering series and then I came across this book. between you and her like I love the way everything is transformed. If you haven't read this book I know you would love it. And it would take you to the next level. I've always considered myself very organized but this book just took me to the next level it was amazing. Also there's a lot of videos on people using this method on UA-cam which are very interesting and inspiring as is your channel!
Thank you for doing this video. I'm in the process of changing how I do things and your explaining the thought process behind how you declutter is very helpful.
lol I nearly ordered two Sigma blending brushes as they are now vegan but... I remember, back in the day, ordering a bunch of brushes from them and every one of these was crap... (And I didn't understand why everybody raved about Sigma at that time). So I went for Real techniques instead, as I quite like everything I own from them :)
OMG, I have been saving & saving, to be able to afford some Sigma brushes & highlighters... I LOVE makeup but, when ur a single parent, items like that are secondary (if at all) & luxury! Love these new types of videos -- inspirational!! Thank you!
Christine, thanks for sharing this journey with us. I too am vegan and while some view vegans are weird and stuck up, others realize we live and eat as we do for better health. I'm vegan in diet only at this time but am also very careful of what products I use for makeup, cleaning, skincare, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this series since I've recently started to minimize things in my home as well. 32 years of marriage equals too much stuff. Hugs
I loooove this!!! ive been trying to declutter before I get into my apartment and products is definitely a struggle for me! especially the ones that were gifted! even though giving them away is so simple, I never thought to! can't wait for the next video!!!!
Happy for you! Very brave move! I am inspired:) it is my day 3 I spend 45 mins every day to declutter and it makes me feel so good like getting a fresh air !!!
Looking forward to this series! You've always motivated me to streamline my belongings. I do a pretty good job in some areas, but in others, not so much.
I'm doing the minimalism too but I don't declutter as much as I used to, I'm trying to use up more products so I won't feel like buying more because I already have enough! I'm basically part of the panning community.
Letting go of gifts or things I've received for free is something I've been working on, I always feel like I should keep a hold of them for some reason
Ive been watching your videos for along time and it's so neat to see you grow and change your style. You are so different than your old videos and i think thats really cool. I love your declutter/organization videos! Im also slowly becoming a minimalist as well and i feel so much better living with less. I can't wait to see your next videos! :)
I am so with you in the Sigma videos :) I think around 2009 they were everywhere! I actually don't like their brushes much either, I had loads and have gotten rid of all of them over the years
Love this video series. Please do more!!! Your motivating me to want to do the same. Thank you!!! I just love love love you and I love watching your journey. I've been a subscriber for many years back when you were pinksofoxy. I love the journey. Also can you do an updated skincare/ how you take care of your skin. I know you have said a lot is due to your diet but your skin looks fabulous.
You are so strong and powerfull! Most people could never turn those products down and if the company sent them to you as i gift almost everyone would be very happy and try it on immediately. I wish i could be as strong as you are!
A minimalism series will be BRILL, I am wanting to minimize a lot more too ( not my Crystals and succulents though haha! ) I have soooo much stuff especially clothes and books and we are moving house too later on this year so I will love watching de cluttering vids :-) thanks a million for sharing Christine and sending heaps of love and happiness from Ireland to Maui and hav ea TERRIFIC Tuesday XXXXX
A great video. For me, I have a clutter problem and I am now doing a no-buy. But, like you said, it will takes ages for the clutter to actually be gone.
I love this, I want to be more minimalist. I have too much clutter but the last year cleaned out a little at a time. The worst for me is clothes. These tiny things creep into our homes and soon you have piles of stuff. Looking forward to seeing your new house. Blessings to you! :-)
It would be nice to meet you when you move to Tucson. I'm in Phoenix. Hope the move goes well when it happens. Love the direction that your channel has taken. :-)
It's funny that you said you weren't a minimalist yet, because it was your make up inventory and decluttering series that started me on the road yo setious decumulation. :) Wishing you a smooth move. Moving was my main motivation for decluttering.
I have been contemplating on the minimalistic lifestyle and I think it's a good idea. People say that material items will make you happy but honestly having a lot of stuff makes me feel stressed. +RainbowRamble21 Yes! That is exactly how I feel.
the way i see it with letting gifts go is the person that gave you the present didn't intent for it to make you feel worse. if it's no longer bringing you happiness, it's alright to let it go.
Tell that to most mothers-in-law out there
+shoppingfiesta OMG yes xD
Not to mention if a gift give you bad feelings or memories keeping that gift(s) around keep that negativity flowing. Yes i agree we cant keep all the gifts we get forever!
I have huge respect for you, you stand out from the crowd Christine! every video you do shows your great character.
Your declutter videos are my fav
Yes! she's detailed
Definitely ! that's why I started to follow her YTchannel actually.
yeah mine too, so inspirational!
Yeah i like them as well , i know people change there life styles but i felt it was becoming Vegan in Nearly every video. So i just stopped watching them. Its nice to have a video to watch!
111 likes on that comment, I dont want to screw that up +1 :-)
I could watch these videos all day!

just finished watching the full video ...loved it "thank you for coming into my life and now i am happy to send you off" pretty powerful :)
These things would have been a nice 'give-away' contest.
she's giving to friends her mom. most of us don't need more.

I've been decluttering for 2 years! yikes! But I feel I'm finally there (although I still go through my house and look for things to get rid of!) I'm like you though - there will always be room in my house for a new crystal lol!

your sigma annoyance is the same as me with audible lol. there was a period where every youtuber I watched was talking about audible -_-
I agree with you, also Mac eyeshadow. Never been a big fan of Mac makeup. I am very pale and feel most of there colors are way to dark for my skin tone.
Yes!! Like come on we all know none of them even use it

I am SO sick of the awkward audible "commercials" in youtuber videos, I always skip ahead to where they are not talking about it. So annoying.

I still watch your less stuff less stress declutter series to this day so this makes me so happy 😍😍😍
YOU'RE THE BEST :-) Every UA-camr should have your journalistic integrity! (aka, honesty)
I'm not used to seeing U tubers sticking to their own promises, it's so refreshing thank you for being honest.
YES!!! So excited for this series!! Minimalism has been SO lifechanging for me over the past year and a half. Excited for your move & fresh start!
I really seriously feel I need to declutter my whole house!
I think you are someone who will not take in more and have to do this repeatedly but actually live this.♥ Elle

I could watch you declutter and organize all day long!
Win-win.
I SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THIS VIDEO! Your declutter videos have ALWAYS been my fave
i did a minimizing spree a while back as well.
Fall/Winter is perfect here in Arizona!!! I love living in thus part of AZ. Just know you already have a friend here when you get here. ~Krista
I would love that sigma brush set and one of the our highlighters. I'll buy them off you Christine.
your videos make me feel calmer
Way to be true to yourself Christine. I applaud you.
Here is an idea. Use the stuff you don't want as give aways! I love Pacifica!
Love this minimalism series ! 😍 - Deana
You are really dedicated with your principles! Its really hard to give away stuff, you're really a noble person!
I'm in the process of changing how I do things and your explaining the thought process behind how you declutter is very helpful.
you're so inspirational and uplifting. you've motivated me to declutter. it's nice to know you give instead of hoarding stuff.
lol I nearly ordered two Sigma blending brushes as they are now vegan but...
Hugs
Starting a minimalist series is a great idea especially with a bit of home decor. I'm starting my journey soon. Just need to start somewhere. LOL
I love your declutter/minimalist videos! Please do a "What's in your purse/bag!"
I savor every minute of your declutter/minimalism videos. Good for you
Yay for a minimalism series!
I loooove this!!! ive been trying to declutter before I get into my apartment and products is definitely a struggle for me! especially the ones that were gifted! even though giving them away is so simple, I never thought to! can't wait for the next video!!!!
So excited for a minimalism series! Those types of videos is why I started watching your videos.
I love your declutter videos! It always makes me wanna do the same. But I'd be more than happy to take some of those products off your hands! :)
I'm with you! Hey if you don't want it, send it my way lol ;)
Omg I miss your declutter videos so much! These videos are so relaxing!
I know this might be very strange but, your hands are so pretty! Like Disney princess hands 😂❤️

Glad I'm not the only one who sees that!

You're my favorite youtuber. Love every single video. Keep them coming!! Very inspirational.
I can see you guys moving into a tiny house in the near future. Love the video, you have inspired me to go through my spare cupboard!!
It sounds like you read The Lifechanging Magic of Tidying Up. Great book! I'm very excited for more minimalism videos!
Your videos inspire me so much that if I'm watching them at 2:00 am I will get up and start decluttering. Sounds crazy but it's true!😜
I LOVED this video keep them coming please!
I'm doing the minimalism too but I don't declutter as much as I used to, I'm trying to use up more products so I won't feel like buying more because I already have enough! I'm basically part of the panning community.
You are awesome... You've been doing this and I'm so glad you're doing again. I'm so excited you're moving closer .....awesome
Letting go of gifts or things I've received for free is something I've been working on, I always feel like I should keep a hold of them for some reason
Awesome! Thank u for sharing since we move to a different place im gonna go declutter my stuff now! Your my inspiration!
Ive been watching your videos for along time and it's so neat to see you grow and change your style. You are so different than your old videos and i think thats really cool. I love your declutter/organization videos! Im also slowly becoming a minimalist as well and i feel so much better living with less. I can't wait to see your next videos! :)
I. Selling a lot of my stuff that I don't need at low prices. I feel so much better now. Thanks for this video.
anyone know where i can get the pink extension cord thing? it's so cute!!
I am so with you in the Sigma videos :) I think around 2009 they were everywhere! I actually don't like their brushes much either, I had loads and have gotten rid of all of them over the years
I loved how you mentioned abt using stuff sent by make-up companies..i totally understand! Respect!
I know you have said a lot is due to your diet but your skin looks fabulous.
yay I'm so excited for this series!!!
YAYI LOVE these videos!! Can't wait for the rest of your series. :)
yes can't wait for the series!!!!!! and the move
Yay minimalism-series!!! Sounds inspiring!!
I vote for a meet up too! :) I'm in the Phoenix area as well!
I'm in Tucson. Woo!
It's funny that you said you weren't a minimalist yet, because it was your make up inventory and decluttering series that started me on the road yo setious decumulation. :)
Wishing you a smooth move. Moving was my main motivation for decluttering.
What is the round hot pink outlet plug thing? Just wondering? Thanks
its exactly what it is. its just a power board thats pink and round
I remember in previous decluttering videos, you have your beauty items to a women's shelter. Will you be doing that again with these items?
