This thing is $94 here in Australia. Seems like a reasonable price. I'm almost 40 and still have the urge to play the old pokemon red on gameboy.
Are all the emulators readily installed in the device?
@@AAR14616 Yes. Also has a hundreds of roms.
Where did you get it for $94? I see on Amazon right now is $149
@@IvanYudhi It was on eBay and the seller never send the item, I had to item not received it. However there seem to be 'real' listings around $100. $149 is too high, imo.
@@AAR14616yes, just start up and play. I recommend some screen settings thats it like contrast and fast frame
Finally bought one...playing on an emulator on pc just doesnt feel the same
Nice that you can replace the battery now, hated that phones stopped the batteries from being replaced like that.
This was definitely the best thing I purchased last year, an amazing device that makes you feel like a kid in the 90's again
i purchased it for the same reason but not the again part
@@DieEneTiener does it have pokemon games?
@@niklaus10 yes a lot
Does anyone know if you can trade Pokemon with each other like on the older Pokémon games ?
got the rg35xx plus for 50 usd, it's incredibly worth it
I alredy ordered one, one of the seling points was the ability to use the hdmi with the bluetoth controlers, it will replace my rpi4 and be portable, also the nostalgia feel od the grey one.
I bought one for my nephew and I’ve been setting it up it’s sweet I added pod zone 2 for dreamcast and some sega genesis games with my steam deck it’s easy to add games in desktop mode
That's a thing that is under commented. HDMI out is a game changer. Having this anywhere to connect to a TV and enjoy retro games is awesome
Does it have paperboy 2 from snes
Any controller recommendations? Got the emulator as a gift
@@davidconrath6148I would be able to tell you if you still haven't bought it yet
Since making this video, have you played any more of the Pokémon DS games and know if their performance is good throughout? It’s one of the main reasons I want this
Thanks for going in-depth into the playability of Pokemon DS games, couldn't really find many videos on this!
no problem, glad the video helped!
They run better on the xxh. Highly recommend that unit. More power. Runs ds much better. I couldn’t stand playing soul silver on iPhone, works great on the xxh. I actually prefer the way the xxh runs Pokemon better than the ds.
@@Roger-il8iw The RG35XX Plus and the RG35XX H have exactly the same spec. They're just different form factor.
Can this thing allow us to transfer pokemons in gba or ds games ? Or is there any retro console that can do that ? Thanks guys !
Just wish mine didn't crap out after 6 days. Buyer beware.
Did you return it?
Really wanting to get the RGXX35 plus even tho an awaited custom software is needed. Also, Happy Nee Year everyone!!
If you and a friend have one can you battle each other on pokemon or does it not support that?
I would like to know if this is possible also. Especially if I want to trade Pokémon between two systems. You know…. Gotta Catch ‘em all! 😅
I just ordered this, how long does the battery last per charge? I'm mostly looking to play Pokemon.
How come your discounted link price is higher than the official website price?
i have a question, how many game have the 128 sd card?
Does the come with soul silver or heartgold preinstalled?
It does
@@williamwhitbyofficial mine didnt but easy to download
Good to know
Hey i liked the video a lot. I only got one question. When i play Pokemon can i trade the pokemon from my DS to this device
Thx for the answer 🙏
So what games come pre installed?
Are games ROM hack preinstalled in the DS card?😮
I bought the base version, saw the "NDS" folder in the microSD and was wondering how to play it. Good to see what i'll be getting if I upgrade, thank you for the video!
I have a 3/ds but for 80 dollars doesnt seem that bad 👀👀👀
Same I feel it has its use case...
I havent gotten one depsite loving my RG35XX because it seems a bit undercooked. Once the software development catches up to the original, I might consider it. Hopefully that happens before something better comes out!
Retroid Pocket 4 Pro
I definitely will get one of those. Either this or the 405v is my next buy
If it's running a Linux-based OS, can it run Proton? I don't have any expectation that it'd be able to handle the vast majority of PC games these days, but there are some old or retro-styled games that I could see running on budget-smartphone-tier chips if there's a working compatibility layer.
I may have missed this but are games preloaded on it?
I just bought the miyoo mini+ other then the size any major differences? I want the most bang for by buck
Power wise they are quite close. I don't think you can go wrong with either.
Any other alternative to play nds games ?
For games like Pokémon is the device able to hold save files as well as be put to sleep?
I couldn't get behind the Miyoo Mini Plus because of both aesthetics and ergonomics. It's just too small and the start and select button are positioned *terribly* likely as a result of that.
Originally, I was looking at the RG35XX and then eventually I learned of the Plus version and that's the one I have now. I'm just waiting on GarlicOS 2.0 to get into a more usable state, as right now it's just an alpha with no hardware acceleration and no compatibility with its functions like wifi (it's capable of it, but the UI has no way of interacting with it, so essentially the options are not available as of yet). With black-seraph catching pneumonia, his work has been delayed, which *sucks* but hopefully he's back on it by now and will release the next version of GarlicOS 2.0 soon.
In the meantime I'm just using this to play Tetris every once in a while. Hardly what I bought it for, I wanted an effective PS1 emulation handheld, but I noticed significant slowdown while messing around with Tomb Raider III and even if I hadn't, I don't want to play any of my games until wifi is enabled at the least so that I can play with RetroAchievements on.
Hopefully I'm not waiting too much longer. The projected date, which was already tentative at best, was December 24th, but on the 25th black-seraph made a post on his Patreon that made it clear he was *still* ill (and I feel that, I got sick nearly three times just in the past couple months), so I'm betting we probably won't get much in the way of updates until mid-January at the earliest. It would be nice to actually make use of the device I've been excited to, but sadly I will likely just be twiddling my thumbs for the foreseeable future. I would not recommend buying the RG35XX Plus right now unless you're okay with Stock OS (which you shouldn't be), because I've seen the interview black-seraph did on a recent podcast which implied he was considering a temporary 30-day paid option for his personal boot files and that just... yeah, nah. Great to support the people who do this stuff, but you'll be left hanging in the wind for a whole month hoping someone else comes out with their own that's just as good.
I'd hold off buying the device right now, take a look around, see if they come out with another device soon. Anbernic have already announced the RG35XX H model which is a horizontal build with twin sticks, which I think is a great addition for anyone who might use this for the occasional Dreamcast or N64 game or, games like Ape Escape which, although rare for the PS1, do mostly require use of an analog stick; though you should just spend more to get a handheld device that can emulate the later systems instead, something with an android build capable of GameCube or even PS2 emulation, as those are the ones that are going to use the sticks far more to begin with. Considering Anbernic's history, from what I hear, they will likely keep releasing new models over the coming months that might draw your eye, anyway.
But as far as budget options go, the RG35XX Plus is great. It's a bit smaller than you might expect when you actually get it. I thought it would be somewhere between what it actually is and what the Game Boy DMG was, but it does feel smaller than that. I think I'd have preferred something a bit bigger, but I don't think it's uncomfortable or bad by any means, just not perfect. It is inarguably better for pocketability than a Game Boy DMG would be, though. Being as small as it is while still be comfortable, it is probably near-perfect in regards to comfortability-to-portability ratio.
One random complaint, though, they put the sticker on the back all wrong. It leans too heavily to the right instead of fitting perfectly in the indent. Unplayable! /s
How are you meant to complete Pokédex’s if you can’t trade?
I need to input something on this device. If this is your first device it's fantastic.🎉 It was my very first device and I love it soo much.❤
Can it handle ps2
Yes
I have a 35xx plus and it runs smooth like butter up to PS1, not on PSP there are stutters here and there but aside from that it has been great so far. I am excited for new the new OS to come out.
So how is Pokémon ? I would be buying this just to play the Pokemon games 🧡🧡 can we please get an update
It plays all the pokemon games to DS well.
Hmm, my RG35xx plus didnt come with N64 or NDS built in
without analog sticks it is no so useful.
i decided to buy this console 3G35XX PLUS and I'm very excited to get it
you can press the power button a single time when playing DS and your Dad will move the Pen, in PSP your DPAd will turn into joystick and In latest updates you can press the R2 button for the switch between modes
I'm just getting into all of the retro gaming emulators, so as an entry point would you recommend the RG35XX Plus (currently without additional OS support) or going with the Miyoo Mini Plus and getting OnionOS? I'm mostly interested in playing Pokemon games, so does the RG35XX Plus have an internal clock allowing for night/day features in Pokemon? I don't think the Miyoo Mini Plus offer that. What do you think would be the best for a beginner right now between these two? Thanks!
This one is my current recommended, it's a bit larger and I like that. The additional OS support will come, and I'm not totally sure on the clock.
I’m in the same situation as you and I just can’t decide. Also gonna play a lot of Pokémon on the handheld. The Anbernic has an internal clock, the Miyoo doesn’t but with onion os it kinda emulates one but it’s not ideal. For me the anbernic being bigger is a good advantage since I have big hands, and I heard that its screen is better. However, everyone praises onion os a lot, and some people say the miyoo has a better build quality. I just can’t decide
@@bolinha3479 I ended up getting the Anbernic, the internal clock works great. Not sure if it’s the better overall choice and I still feel like I’m missing out by not getting the mini.
I preferred the power of the Plus, asi has a better size and an HDMI out port (not that I’ll ever use it). The button rattle slightly though and the OS system right now sucks. Plays Pokémon just fine though
@matthewscott3689 I think the Anbernic is better for Pokémon overall. The RG35XX+ is the better choice, I think, it's just a matter of time until it gets a nicer OS made by the community. Since it has Wi-Fi, are you able to trade Pokémon? Other than retroachievements and scraping boxarts I don't think Wi-Fi is a deal breaker for me, if I'm not even able to trade Pokémon trough Wi-Fi I may just get the regular RG35XX, it's cheaper, bigger than the Miyoo and also has a better screen, and since it's older than the + it already has a better OS available for it. I think you made a good choice going for the RG35XX+, eventually they'll port GarlicOS for it. BTW don't forget to download your own ROMs for the system as some of the ROMs that come pre downloaded on the SD card can be kinda funky and glitch out sometimes.
So I MAINLY want to buy one of these to emulate pokemon games and pokemon ROM hacks. The biggest thing for me is can you speed up the game to at least 4x speed? If not, am I able to download a different GBA/DS emulator to get the 4x speed?
Did you get The answer on this ?
Is this possible ?
Were you able to find it out?
I love mine but bought the h too for the joystick for n64. Love both but maybe should have just bought the V instead and got the higher consoles too oh well lol
If u want n64 just get the h. Mine you had to remap the controls on the + and the joystick is just better for 3D. Trust me I bought both for this reason alone
am i able to trade pokemon in the game to the same device?
5:52 Just since you brought it up, there's a romhack you can apply to your game that removes the DS touchscreen requirements from the first Castlevania DS game. The others don't have this issue, from what I hear, so you just have to patch the one and then you can play it normally.
There are also other great titles for DS you could play with a single screen, like Chrono Trigger, as that was released on DS with the old SNES single-screen style as an optional toggle, and I highly recommend that game, even though I'm sure most people know about or have played it themselves.
Ooohhh forgot about chrono trigger on ds! Had as a kid when i was younger and never finished. Gonna add it to mine tn, thank you!!
Bought a pair for my wife and myself around Xmas and my only complaint is that I wish Ambernic would have done a bit more QA on the included games. We've already run into a lot of games that either won't launch, or hang at certain points when playing. And I'm not talking PSP or PS1, mostly stuff on the lower end, so most likely bad roms. We're not emulator super-users and we didn't get these to do a lot of tinkering and modding, so maybe they can be fixed by finding better versions to replace them, or maybe the upcoming OS might help. Still impressed with the hardware, just wish the roms were curated better.
yeah, having your own library really helps for roms. but the hardware is quite cool. I also like the rom hacks on here.
I go my RG35XX plus this morning. I can't find the N64 folder anywhere. help?
where can I download the full folder of CPS-1 roms??? can you post it??? i deleted by accident (google translator)
Ok unless Miyoo makes another device, I’m getting one. Been trying to decide between the two
Which would be the best bang for your buck that can emulate Dreamcast and with joysticks? Thank you in advance
Can you link play with friends? Im trying to find an emulator handheld for pokemon and I want to play with a buddy and battle with them too
How many pokemon games are on here i want to buy one mainly for the pokemon games
Almost none you need to source the specific roms yourself.
Maybe in 10 years when all of them have broken down, we’ll get a 2-screen emulation device specialized for running DS/3DS titles.
How does it handle say Dragon Quest Nine? It had a similar setup like Pokemon where the bottom screen was used for Attack commands in combat.
I subscribed to the giveaway for the RG35XX Plus! Fingers crossed!
Can you test super smash bros 64? When i get to fight star fox on his level it bugs tf out lmao
Ohh i would glad top win some piece Like The Anbernic RG35xx plus ❤
What a nice piece of tech
There is a hackrom for ds castlevania that removes the need of touch controls
Amazon has free 2-day shipping for this.
Can this thing play Amiga 500/600/1200 games ?
for ds games you can find rom hacks where the touch is removed, like for the castlevania and zelda games
hope i win this bad boy 👌👌
Really, I gotta check these out. That would open up quite a few games.
I'd like to play super mario 64 DS without using the stylus... may have to see if that's available.
I may be too late. But did I win. Pockets are tight. I hope I won!
Can you cast/stream it to a TV? (Why would one want to do that…hahaha)
Is there anything for DS with the actual DS cart slots?
thx for you Video, so can you help me pls? I exactly wanna play pokemon platinum, but i cant make it work for "fullscreen" the Mail Screen. I can switch between "Horizontal / Vertical" but i dont know where i can turn on ONLY Fullscreen Mainscreen
say with pokemon, can you still bring up a cheats menu and add the various cheats that are out there?
Not like im going to win lmao but dropped a sub cuz I loved your review
I just want one that plays paperboy 2 from snes
Oh man i'm torn between this one and the analogue pocket.
Is there a version or a concole sort of the same with touchscreen?
Please please please man can I play SoulSilver on that device 🙏👀😩😩? If yes also could you please explain how to do so. I'm dying to give it a try and this is my price range for a device to play it on.
Nice little device. I am impressed with everything it can run. 🎉
What´s the name of the game on minute 8:44 ???
What game is that you're playing on the steam deck?
I was wondering whether or not to upgrade from my regular rg35xx but I’ll wait for now !
Once some custom firmware drops I think that would be decode time.
Once this thing has hardware acceleration it will be the clear better option. Without owning an RG35XX it was already a better option, but... for those who own one already, I would definitely wait.
Really, I think if you want an upgrade, you're better off not getting anything like the RG35XX Plus and instead opting for something a bit more powerful. I just don't think it's worth upgrading to this even if it can play some N64 or Dreamcast titles. There will be drawbacks and options you'll have to toggle anyway just to get many of them to play smoothly. Some will be fine that way, using frameskipping and the like, but others are going to be noticeable and in some cases downright bad depending on your perspective and the RG35XX Plus lacks sticks. If you like the horizontal design at all, the H model of the RG35XX that was just announced recently would probably be a better option for an upgrade that's similar in power and (presumably) price.
However, if _I_ wanted to get an upgrade, I'd save up to get a device that can run at least GameCube or PS2 titles with some sticks included. Though not a vertical design in that case, as those designs look awful.
again terrible Chinese emulation
Is it possible to play amiga and c64 games on it, great review ordered one too..😊
There is a castlevina fixed rom
Do this have WWF NO MERCY?
kind of excited for this release. my last 35xx was stolen and ive been missing having it ever since! cool to see the small upgrades here and there! great vid as well!

This is better option than the Analogue Pocket?
Unless you have a library of carts this one is the ticket.
just got mine in the mail today and its stuck on the abernic screen
Does it come with ALL GB/GBC/GBA games? Thx

already did womp womp
Id like to win one, seems cool
Can this do Ps2 or Gamecube at all?
Nope.
It’s a cool handheld but I think they could have added a joystick
The RG35XX H will be the move for the joysticks.
