Casting Black Cinema: Opinions of African Americans and African Immigrants on Contested Casting in Black History-Films
Adelaja Oriade, a doctoral candidate at Ohio University's media arts and studies department. His dissertation centers on the complex debates surrounding the interethnic casting of Black actors in Hollywood-produced biopics of historical African and African American leaders. Additionally, Adelaja scrutinizes the strategic use of social media by non-profit LGBTQ advocacy organizations, investigating how these platforms influence attitudes toward the LGBTQ community in Nigeria. Adelaja skillfully combines data-driven insights from social media analytics with qualitative methodologies to illuminate these multifaceted issues. Before embarking on his Ph.D. journey, Adelaja obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from Tai Solarin University, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Communication and Language Arts from the prestigious University of Ibadan in Nigeria.
