  • Casting Black Cinema: Opinions of African Americans and African Immigrants on Contested Casting in Black History-Films
    Adelaja Oriade, a doctoral candidate at Ohio University's media arts and studies department. His dissertation centers on the complex debates surrounding the interethnic casting of Black actors in Hollywood-produced biopics of historical African and African American leaders. Additionally, Adelaja scrutinizes the strategic use of social media by non-profit LGBTQ advocacy organizations, investigating how these platforms influence attitudes toward the LGBTQ community in Nigeria. Adelaja skillfully combines data-driven insights from social media analytics with qualitative methodologies to illuminate these multifaceted issues. Before embarking on his Ph.D. journey, Adelaja obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from Tai Solarin University, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Communication and Language Arts from the prestigious University of Ibadan in Nigeria. His academic journey highlights his unwavering commitment to examining crucial themes such as media representation, diversity, and social advocacy.
